About the property

Tahoe Condo, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6 adults, + young kids)

This 3-bedroom condo is located in the most scenic, quiet cut-de-sac of Lake Forest Glen, and has a large deck that steps right onto a gorgeous, open meadow. It is near charming and beautiful Tahoe City. It's close to skiing, and just a short walk to the lake with a quiet, public beach. This beautiful location is perfect for families, recreation-seekers or even for a couple's getaway. Lots of kid-friendly extras are available for your use as well, if you like.

Located right on LFG's western meadow for sunset-viewing & stargazing, this unit has lots of family amenities including an open-plan kitchen with lots of counter space for cooking, full dining/gaming area for 6+, 1.5 updated bathrooms, including a large walk-in glass shower. Living area has plenty of comfortable seating, newer gas fireplace, large flatscreen TV with cable, Roku to log into your Netflix account, and substantial DVD library. Room 1 is very large with a California King log bed, large closet with additional vanity/mirror area and offers gorgeous view of the expansive meadow. Room 2 has a comfortable log Queen bed, Room 3 has two comfortable log Twin beds. Pack-N-Plays, booster chairs, bed rails, etc. available for our littlest guests. Wireless internet access throughout.

Walk right in to unit - no steep, slippery stairs to climb! Parking in regularly plowed area for 2 large cars. Stone entry with bench & closet space to store wet shoes & coats, also has outdoor toys, beach chairs, etc. for use. Large, sunny back deck on floor level has 6 Adirondack chairs to relax on while enjoying the fresh air, the sounds of the trees and the gorgeous, expansive meadow view. Propane gas BBQ, umbrella & chairs on deck in warmer months. Storage tucked away under the interior stairs contains loads of toys/activities and games for all ages.

The condo has double-pane, east/west facing windows with blackout curtains in the east bedrooms to stay cooler in the heat of the summer days - the sunny deck with large umbrella awaits when you want some afternoon sun. Newer gas fireplace, forced heat with Nest thermostat, and expansive, west-facing views from master bedroom, kitchen and dining room offer lots of natural beauty to enjoy all year round, whether you are inside or out. Open-plan, cook's kitchen is fully equipped with generous counter space, dishwasher, gas stove/oven, large built-in microwave, pots, pans & loads of dinnerware, spice rack, toaster oven, electric kettle, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, large refrigerator and full-size washer/dryer in adjacent laundry area. The carpets are professionally steam-cleaned annually, and no pets or smoking is ever allowed. Enjoy all the comfort & amenities of our home away from home!

The condo complex has two swimming pools ('quiet' pool & 'family' pool both open Memorial Day to Labor Day), four tennis courts, outdoor hot tub open year round, dry sauna, playground structure, basketball hoops, and regular snow-plow service. Our unit is located on a quiet cul-de-sac close to the pools, but not within ear-shot of the daytime activity there. The street, Glen Strath, is away from the higher-traffic entrances, basketball courts and main circle roads. You won't have groups passing by on their way in/out, to the pool or lake. We also have a local property manager that can assist you with last-minute emergencies.

This home is conveniently situated 1 mile from Tahoe City for upscale & casual restaurants, bars/brewery, Safeway & SaveMart grocery stores, CVS drugstore, movie theater, golf course, shopping, yogurt & ice cream, coffee, ski and bike rental shops, hardware store for fishing supplies. Also, near sledding and cross-country skiing in winter, boat launch, Truckee river-rafting in summer, yoga, massage, summer farmer's market & outdoor movies at Commons Beach, and Tahoe’s famous 'Fanny Bridge', Watson Cabin, & Gatekeepers Museum. Bike paths are very good on the North Shore, especially to-and-from Tahoe City!!

Compared to the South Lake Tahoe area, Northwest Lake Tahoe is considered the less populated, more quiet & quaint, more outdoor recreation-oriented area of the lake. No loud casinos here! (Nevada casinos are a 30 minute drive away.)

Alpine Meadows, Homewood and Squaw Valley Ski resorts are just 6-10 miles away for skiing, ice skating, indoor rock-climbing, horseback riding, cable car ride, snow tubing, ski schools.

In our immediate neighborhood: We are lucky to be located on the lake side of the highway, so no need to cross it to get to lake!! You can walk to Skylandia Park & Beach with picnic tables, restrooms, and gentle paths that meander through the woods to a secluded, locals' sandy beach and pier. On your way there you can grab a coffee, sandwich, or special pastry at Sugar Pine Cakery, located on Lake Forest Road. Or if you are shorter on time - head straight down Bristlecone to amazing views of the lake from rocky Lake Forest Beach. Additional playground and lake views also available near the Coast Guard Boat Launch site (see all links provided)

About The Owner

We are both California natives, and both graduates of UC schools currently living in San Francisco. This place is our regular escape to the outdoors, which we share with our two kids as often as possible. He enjoys high altitude trail runs, bike riding to and from Tahoe City, and finding patches of grass around town to play soccer with the kids. She enjoys swimming in Lake Tahoe, playing competitive & silly board games around the dinner table, and visiting the Tahoe City Library. Our kids enjoy exploring the meadow, beating their parents at mini golf, walking to the lake and through Skylandia Park, and eating popsicles on the back deck. We all ski together and build snow forts in the meadow in winter!

The Owner purchased this condo in 2006

Why The Owner chose Lake Forest

Our family has owned property in, and has been visiting and enjoying the ever-changing beauty of Lake Tahoe continuously for over fifty years. We have spent many holidays and vacations here with four generations of our family, and love to see our young kids learning to respect and be comfortable in this beautiful outdoor playground. We truly love this part of California, and are happy to answer questions about regional activities such as trail hiking, the best beaches, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, skiing, etc., to help you tailor your visit to fit just the vacation you are looking for.

What makes this condo unique

We love this place for the quiet sanctuary it provides our family. We never stop appreciating the 24-hour full view of the gorgeous meadow, and its use as an adventurous backyard for our kids. We hope you can find some time for your family to enjoy this cozy spot, as a base camp for all your Tahoe adventures!

Wonderful place, great location, stocked with everything

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here over Thanksgiving, we have two kids (2 and 4 yrs old), we visit Tahoe many times a year and this hands down our favorite place we've stayed. There were so many toys, books, puzzles, games, and movies for the kids. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need - we cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner there with no problem. The rooms are good size with great beds and lots of little extras that were really handy. The location is great, with an easy walk down to the town beach. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

PERFECT LOCATION! Quiet, access to meadow, quick walk to lake

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to this condo in July for the last 4 years, this will be our 5th year! We have also visited a couple of times in the winter. I cannot say enough about this condo! The condo is situated right on the meadow, just walk out the back door, and there you are! This is a must in the winter for snow play! In the summer grab a glass of wine and sit and watch the foxes and other wild animals run around the meadow. This condo is a quick walk to the swimming pools and hot tub, but not so close that you are bothered by any noise. We have never had an issue with noise from Neighbors, EVER! Also a very easy walk to the lake, this street is one of quietest in the complex, and one of the most central.

Underneath the stairs are all the toys your kids will ever need to be entertained if you are stormed in, like we were for an afternoon last year. Under the TV there is a load of movies, both adult and kids. There is a closet filled with everything you need for winter and summer fun on the beach!

The kitchen is well stocked, with plenty of containers with lids, utensils and plates and cups. Also plastic sets for kids! Never run out if you are entertaining! I hate going to a cabin and there is only 8 of everything! Makes it so difficult! Not a problem here. Also basics such as spices and baking items in the cupboards.

Outstanding family vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely adored this place; our best family vacation yet! We are a family of four with two boys (3 and 7) and the world was our oyster the past three days at this condo. We loved all of the personal touches. So much thought has been put into making this condo an outstanding place for anyone to stay. It is clean and roomy, with a nice kitchen and a porch overlooking a meadow. There was a very nice pool for the boys to play in and tons of toys for both indoor and outdoor play. The location is very close to Tahoe City with easy access to the lake and Tahoe Rim Trail. The beds are comfortable, the area very quiet, lots of outdoor oriented reading material, nice shower, plenty of towels, a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, everything.. I could go on and on. Nothing was lacking and everything was in working, clean good order. We look forward to coming back and recommend it to anyone.

Great location, best of North Tahoe!

  • 5 of 5

This condo is my family's go-to place for visiting Tahoe in summer and winter. The condo is comfortable and well-appointed with an amazing variety of baby and kid supplies (from a baby bathtub, pack n' play, and highchairs to toys, games, snow toys, and swimming stuff). But it's also great for adults w/o kids too - just enough space for everyone to not feel crowded, yet cozy. The property is conveniently located - an easy walk to the lake or to Tahoe City - and has good amenities (pools, hot tub, playground, easy parking). An easy drive from the Bay Area, and good access to any of the North Lake ski areas. We highly recommend!

We love our stays at this condo. The privacy that the back meadow offers is priceless as well as the wonderful stargazing opportunities on the back deck. The Updated kitchen helps us as we prep and feed the kids. The added touch of the toys is a bonus for us with small kids. The condo is clean and decorated nicely and all of the little touches are appreciated. We have a lot of fun enjoying the pool and hot tub and the location is wonderful, close to the grocery store and many beautiful nature walks.

Great Tahoe City location, extremely kid friendly

  • 5 of 5

We've been coming to this house for years, and we're always happy to be here. Walking distance to some nice little beaches, biking distance to Tahoe City. A quiet little condo neighborhood. A great community area with pools, hot tub, and playground. Clean. Great wifi. Two bathrooms. A very functional kitchen, with working applicances, plenty of cooking tools, and lots of dishes and containers. Infinite amusements and conveniences for kids 0-10: toys, gates, booster seats, kiddie dishes, a pack-n-play, even a baby bathtub. It's not a luxury pad, but it's a great little family home that's comfortable and practical.
