About April Peterson
The owners are raising their three teenagers in the Fairview community. As a family we love the outdoors and spending time as a family fishing. Knowing how special the area is around Sugar Hollow, we purchased Hickory Hollow in 2016 with the idea of moving into the property when our children leave the nest.

Why April Peterson chose Fairview
We purchased Hickory Hollow because after spending 18 years in the Asheville community we have come to recognize Sugar Hollow and the surrounding valley as one of the most protected, pristine and charming areas in the Asheville area. This historic cottage represents a simpler time of vacationing in the mountains.

Staying at this cottage was a highlight of our vacation!
This renovated cottage was the perfect place for my husband and I to stay in Asheville! April is helpful, outstanding and attentive, and pays close attention to detail, both in her communication and the way in which she decorated/renovated this cozy cottage! The cottage was such an escape for us and a retreat every day of our trip. The views are stunning, the decor is perfect and lovely, the entire cottage is cozy and comfortable. We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to stay! In fact, we found ourselves longing to enjoy the cottage so much that we ate in every evening! Truly an oasis!
Beautiful Cottage in the Country
This is a beautiful property with well-appointed amenities for a very comfortable stay. We relished the spectacular view from the two decks, and enjoyed morning walks on the country road. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare meals at home. A quiet and peaceful setting, yet a close drive in to Asheville for dining and shopping. We hope to be back to experience another season at Hickory Hollow!
Wonderful 1950's Cottage with Beautiful Mountain Views
Really enjoyed our weekend at this beautiful vintage cottage. The charm of the living/dining area and mountain views even exceeded expectations. House is very well appointed, has everything you could ask for in amenities and then some. Host was super helpful and responsive. It was a great cozy spot for a winter trip, and can only imagine how pretty the property is when the abundant rhododendrons are in bloom. Thank you for sharing this home!
What a charming place to stay!
We made an impromptu trip up from Florida with our three children so that they could see snow and we booked this cottage since it was highly reviewed. We couldn't have been happier with our decision. The location is great. It is close enough to Asheville to make it convenient, but tucked away to feel like a retreat from everything. The cottage is well-maintained and clean, with plenty of provisions to make it easy to cook. Also, the Petersons were very helpful in providing suggestions for activities and dining. We went tubing in Wolf Ridge and Cataloochee at their recommendation and had a lot of fun. We'd love to come back some time in the future for a longer stay.
So glad the kids got to see snow for the first time. We used take our kids tubing when they were younger. It's a great winter activity in the mountains. Hope to see you guys again! Best, April
Beautiful cabin with all the special touches
The cabin is wonderful and the views are spectacular.
So glad you had a great trip to the cottage. The views never disappoint in any season. Best, April
Great mountain getaway close to Asheville
Just had a long weekend to explore Asheville, but wanted to spread out a bit. This cottage turned out to be a perfect way to do that! The house has tons of windows, great for catching glimpses of the mountains, the mist, and--in autumn-- the incredible fall foliage. Inside, the cottage is extremely comfortable and clean. It is well appointed but with a cozy, rustic feel. The owners have invested a lot of thought and care into this home--supportive mattresses, easy chairs and lighting where you want them, and a lovely kitchen that lacks for nothing. April couldn't have been nicer or more responsive, and we have resolved to return to this cottage, hopefully with a little more time to explore, hike, and experience everything that Asheville and the surrounding area have to offer.
Jo Anna thank you for the review. We worked hard to think of everything we would want if we were on vacation in the cottage. I hope you book with us again in the future. Best, April
