About Jane Schwarz

I am a retired interior designer from Houston Texas who moved here with my husband almost 2 years ago. My husband Chuck is an artist and a musician. He has a large shop on the property and he'd be happy to show you his work.

We love living here and enjoy all the area has to offer and would be delighted to offer suggestions on things to do, places to see, hikes, restaurant recommendations, etc.

Jane Schwarz purchased this house in 2015

Why Jane Schwarz chose Fairview

When we drove up the driveway we both knew this was the place! The view is spectacular; even the mailman told me it was his favorite in all of Fairview. We have 14 acres with 2 creeks running through the property. A certified organic farmer grows all kinds of vegetables on our lower 2 acres. We recently planted 100 blueberry bushes and should have tons this spring to share with our guests.

There is a farm next door with chickens and horses and a llama!

The stars at night are big and bright. It is a peaceful place we want to share with others.

What makes this house unique

Peace and quiet and yet so close to Asheville. Our location works well for those who want to be near Asheville and all it has to offer and those who just want to enjoy hiking, fishing, or The Blue Ridge Parkway.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A Tranquil Respite after days of touring and from the hustle and bustle of Asheville

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Our party of four stayed here while visiting from the Seattle area. We had easy access to area attractions such as Linnville Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Folk Art Center and many of the attractions, restaurants and shops in Asheville. I grew up in North Carolina and wanted to also experience the rural aspects of the Western part of the state during this visit. This farmhouse was exactly what we wanted - a beautiful rural setting and a perfect place to unwind in the evenings and slowly start our day the next morning. The farmhouse is super clean, well appointed in an appropriate style. Beds were very comfortable and everything worked as it should. We enjoyed sitting on the covered patio in the late afternoon and watching the changing light on the surrounding mountains while daytime sounds gradually faded to night. The Owners were very welcoming and cordial and responded quickly to our requests. It was a real treat to stay here.

Cozy, updated farmhouse close to Asheville

  • 5 of 5

The Grand View Farmhouse is a lovely, updated home with wonderful views of a nearby farm and Little Pisgah Mountain. We found the home to be very clean and well maintained. The home is in a private, quiet setting with the owners living next door. It is a short drive into town (Fairview) and not much further to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Jane and Chuck were gracious hosts and even brought us a delicious New Year's Day dinner when we weren't able to travel into town for food. We highly recommend Grand View Farmhouse and hope to return for another relaxing visit!

Comfortable farmhouse in picturesque setting

  • 5 of 5

The views truly are magnificent! There are horses and a llama and a charming rooster crowing in the valley below. All very novel and peaceful for urban midwesterners. We were very comfortable in this clean and well equipped farmhouse, despite the chilly temperatures. Lots of privacy and a great place to relax after exploring Asheville, which is only a short drive away. We will definitely stay here next time we come to town.

Owner's Response: Chris, We are so glad you enjoyed the animals next door. Most guests are so busy exploring Asheville they never get to explore what is right outside! We hope you return to explore some more! Thank you for your nice review. All the best in 2018, Jane and Chuck

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The farm house is cute and VERY clean. The owner is next door but they never bothered us. We felt like we had our own little slice of heaven all to our selves. Our children live in the area and was able to come over and have a early Christmas with us. Even though the house is small the owner didn't mind that we had all these extra people coming in. We appreciated that so much!

The house sits on top of a hill and the view of the farm and surrounding area is so beautiful. What a gem we found. Hope to come back soon!

A beautiful home away from home. The owners were fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this beautiful farm house. It was so private and clean and had everything you needed and more. We arrived during a huge snow storm. The owners Jane and Chuck were so very generous and thoughtful. We were snowed in on our first evening and we arrived to find homemade delicious Christmas cookies and the driveway cleared for us. We didn't bring much food and we couldn't leave due to the weather so the owners brought us a wonderful spaghetti dinner with all of the extras. Their thoughtfulness and generosity was so very amazing! The home was close to everything and just the perfect place to be snowed in! We enjoyed our time in this beautiful home and look forward to visiting again! Thank you Jane and Chuck!!
