We provide all linens and bath/hand towels, beach towels, golf cart, kayak, bikes, help with passes, beach umbrellas, beach chairs and tennis rackets/tennis balls (for use on a tennis court that is available to our guests for free). New Sony Bravia 55 inch HD flat screen Smart TV in the family room and two new Smart HDTVs in both the master and second bedroom! There is an outside shower for yourself and your pets, still whilst looking at the ocean.
Heated (Florida winter!) swimming pool, which is also on the ocean!, and tennis court, both which are only one building away (but far enough away so that you do not get disturbed by any pool noise!)accessed either along the Gulf/Ocean or on the sand road near the tennis court. Morning sunlight filters from the side onto both porches which are facing/directly on the ocean and which sit right on the beach/Gulf of Mexico on Don Pedro Island/Palm Island. It is a barrier island and only a quick 5 minute car ferry ride - you can drive your car on and off the barge, or you can use walk-on passes, from the mainland. Cars are allowed on this island, but you can also walk for miles, but you can drive your car to the front door and unpack your groceries and enjoy free parking.
There is a small restaurant in the Resort (the public has to come over on a water taxi from the mainland, which you can also use to get back to another restaurant on the mainland) and an ice cream/deli/coffee shop and a cute gift store. There are no large high-rise buildings or beach bars/loud music - just the sounds of the ocean to lull you...you could possibly call it nature's unspoiled paradise! You can go fishing both from the ocean directly in front of our house (sunset side) or from our dock over the road(sun rise side)!
Dolphins, pelicans diving into the ocean, turtles, turtle nests and baby turtles during the season, many types of birds, gopher tortoises - nature on your doorstep, BUT you also have access to free wifi/internet/cable/Smart TV's, iPhones etc so the stresses of life are right at your finger-tips if you want to access them at any moment lol
Golf carts are the preferred choice for getting around the (no golf courses on the island, but many close by!) shell/sand roads during your stay. After you have unpacked your car, which you drive to the townhouse... go exploring... eat at the Island restaurant and drive home in the golf cart with the starry sky to light your way!
Off island, there are 3 well-stocked Publix, locally-owned restaurants, plus McDonalds, Subway, Pizza Hut, Burger King ...quaint shops, golf courses and Boca Grande Island nearby.... Cayo Costa Island and Cabbage Key are only a boat ride away! Unwind throughout the day and maybe end it all with an amazing sunset which can be seen overlooking the Gulf from our decks - a “get-away-from-it-all” relaxing destination or you can go off island every day if you so choose! Our island is located halfway between Tampa and Naples on the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast - part of a charming collection of coastal communities surrounding the state’s second largest harbor. Florida’s premier year-round eco-tourism destination, the area offers a pristine unspoiled beauty. In 2014, Port Charlotte was named the top “U.S. Best Value Destination” by Trivago (the world’s largest online hotel search site), and the Charlotte Sports Park, spring training home of the Tampa Bay Rays, was voted “Best Spring Training Facility” by readers of USA TODAY. A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, Punta Gorda / Englewood Beach (one of our closest beaches off island) has been named one of SAIL magazine’s “10 Greatest Places to Sail in the United States,” ranked by Golf Digest as “Third Best Place to Live and Play Golf in America,” and rated by MONEY magazine as one of the “Best Places to Live in the South.” Our closest town, Englewood, was named second of the Top Ten emerging travel destinations in the U.S. by TripAdvisor.com. The area is served by five airports: The Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) with private and charter air service, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), Southwest Florida International Airport, Ft. Myers, (RSW), St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and Tampa International Airport (TPA).
