This very private and luxurious 2000 square foot home is atop the Yellowstone plateau, near the Yellowstone River just 25 miles south of Livingston and 30 miles north of Yellowstone Park. The location is perfect for year-round access to Yellowstone Park, as the North Entrance is the only entrance open year round. You can drive through the Lamar Valley to Cooke city for world class snowmobiling seeing the great bison and elk herds on the way . We have year round fly fishing as well with the nearby blue-ribbon trout waters, and the most famous Spring Creeks in the world, - hiking the mountain ranges and national forests, horseback riding, white water rafting- you won't run out of choices, and in the winter, snowshoeing, alpine and cross country skiing, and dog sledding are common here.
Architect designed details like soffits for indirect lighting, 8 foot doors throughout, Montana yellow pine floors and trim, and generous windows make the home a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Cooks will love the kitchen with its gas range and fully appointed selection of cookware and small appliances.
Large picture windows and sliding glass doors in every room provide views of Emigrant Peak, the Gallatin Mountains, the Absarokee-Beartooth Mountains and the Crazies! You wont know which window to look out as each provides a spectacular view of snow capped peaks. Radiant floor heating throughout makes the cabin very comfortable for winter visits. The gourmet kitchen is the focus of the main living area and is a perfect setup to socialize while cooking the evening meal. The cabin is very tastefully decorated with unique Native American artifacts, vintage cowboy art, and some pieces by local contemporary artists. Much of the furniture is from the same company that made furniture for the old Yellowstone Park lodges.
The cabin is less than a mile from the Yellowstone River. Also about a mile away is the famous Chico Hot Springs Resort. Chico offers hot spring pools, guided outdoor activities such as horseback riding and whitewater rafting, 5 star dining, a grill, and a saloon with live music several nights each week.

I really hope this is helpful to people considering this property in the future: Despite the reassurance of the consistent rave reviews, I couldn't help to be a bit hesitant given the not-so-great review from fellow VRBOer “Christina”. But believe me, there’s no reason to fear, I find absolutely no merit to that review. This cabin, without a doubt, is 10 out of 10! Everything, from the beautifully decorated and well appointed bathrooms, to the ever-going panoramic views from every room of the house, we were immersed in complete relaxation, comfort, and peace. The rustic touches around the property really gave us the full experience of the natural beauty that surrounded us. So private and beautiful, even some deer visited our last day! The property has 2 decks with pretty amazing views and perfect for stargazing! There are tons of sitting options inside and out, my favorite were the over-sized chairs by the fire place, tons of wine was sipped on those! The cabin is really close to Chico springs and about 30 min from Yellowstone and less than 10 min from fly fishing. Yet you feel completely secluded in your own little paradise. Thanks to the owner for sharing this amazing property, I am a fan and already have plans to go back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We spent a week at the McCulley Cabin and it was so wonderful! There were 6 of us and we found that we were not crowded in the least. Our mouths fell open when we walked inside for the first time. Previous reviews were correct in saying that the pictures do not do the cabin justice! There is so much to see inside as well as outside. The views go on and on! The close proximity to Chico Hot Springs was great, and with trips to Yellowstone our days were full and always exciting. We went fly fishing with Flying Pig Adventures in Gardiner. (Fire Hole River in Yellowstone) Buffalo walking past us was icing on the cake! As far as the cabin....we found the beds to be very comfortable and the radiant heat in the floors was a welcome relief since we were there for the first snow of fall! 3 days of our vacation had flurries, so we were in Heaven!! The porches were great for family gatherings to talk about how lucky we were to be at this cabin! We will definately recommend this home to other visitors every chance we get! (Focus ficus II ) was very thirsty. We watered him several times while we were there. What a wonderful addition to the cabin! If you're looking for a relaxing vacation home....this is it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My family went to Yellowstone for my Father's 65th birthday and we used this cabin for our base location. We were very happy with the privacy of the location and the quality and comfort of the cabin. It was all very peaceful. Mark was very responsive to any questions and concerns we had. We only wish we had more time during our stay to enjoy the cabin and nearby area between the trips to yellowstone. We would certainly stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family spent two weeks in Montana in September and the best week was at the McCulley Cabin. It was everything promised -- Mark, the owner, was gracious, helpful, and emailed us twice to make sure we had the correct directions and passcodes. We had no problems -- everything was clean and sparkling, we cooked steaks (that we bought from Heebs Grocery in Bozeman) on the grill (there are two!) with no problems. Mark has it well supplied with all the staples needed for comfortable living. The cabin is a "ranch house" and enchanting. It felt like the home I wished I had if I was an interior decorator and collector of western-themed art. It is obvious the owners love their get-away home and we felt honored that they share it with travelers looking for something unique. I loved that they have a 15 foot tall ficus tree (named Focus Ficus) in the living room that we watered twice during our stay -- he/she was thirsty! The cabin is a mile or so from Chico Hot Springs which is a wonder unto itself for food and soaking in the hot pool. The locals at the bar were entertaining, also gracious, and informative. We were able to go fishing at Anders and come back to the cabin for a good night sleep before heading out the next day to other parts of Montana, Wyoming and Utah. We actually were so comfortable with the cabin that we spent three days just enjoying each others company, and only going out to dinner at Chico. The cabin is well-maintained, stocked with books, board games, cable TV, WiFi, and the internet so we stayed connected with the world -- but the best part was listening to the quiet at night and looking at the galaxies that you can't see with the light-pollution from living in the "city." We had a great experience, loved the hard-wood floors, comfortable western decor, and stone fireplace, and would highly recommend the McCulley Cabin for anyone who wants to be "centrally located" near Yellowstone but off the beaten path of the ordinary. Enjoy your stay. We did.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My fiancé and I stayed at the McCulley Cabin for a week this summer. We absolutely loved both the cabin and the area where it’s located. The cabin is sited on a ridge with views of the mountains in all directions. I can’t imagine a more beautiful location. We found the cabin to be spacious, luxurious and well-maintained. We spent a lot of time at the cabin, cooking and eating delicious meals, drinking wine, reading and otherwise relaxing. The cabin is both comfortable and well-equipped with all the cooking utensils and appliances we needed as well as a good Wi-fi signal. As others have said, the pictures on the website really don’t capture how wonderful the cabin is! The location was very convenient: just a couple minutes’ drive to Chico Hot Springs or a 20-30 minute drive into Livingston for groceries or to the Yellowstone entrance -- even the drive to Yellowstone was great in and of itself because of all the wildlife! The McCulley Cabin was the perfect getaway -- our most relaxing vacation I can remember -- and I’m thrilled to give it a 5-star rating!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at this property from 8/10 to 8/29/2012. Although we loved the location, there were many problems/issues that kept us from having a great vacation. The night we arrived, we tried to BBQ. The grill did not ignite automatically (which was a big problem since it was windy every night we were there) and did NOT have any gas in the tank. So after a long day of travel, my husband had to drive back out to get a tank of propane. Every VRBO we have stayed at has been well stocked. This one was not. We had to purchase everything except salt, pepper, mustard, mayo and malt vinegar. As soon as we walked in, we tried to open all the windows and doors. The window closest to the bar area was all clouded over and you could not see out of it. EVERY SINGLE SCREEN DOOR was broken and trying to get in and out to the patio areas in the front or back was almost impossible. To get to the grill outside we had to walk through the front door instead of the kitchen door. Several of the windows themselves were broken and we could not open them. Several of the inside windows were filthy and smudged. The kitchen floors were not just filthy, but sticky as well. We all took to wearing flip flops inside the house or socks which the turned black. In the bedroom with two beds, the drop down curtain did NOT close and my daughter woke up every morning as soon as the light filled the room around 5.15 AM. Another huge issue was that each room that had long, heavy drapes covering the windows had NO SASHES or bars to hold them back, so we were using luggage, chairs and crazy make-shift efforts every day to open them so that we could get light. It was really a huge pain 2 times a day. The kitchen curtain by the dining room kept falling down and we finally had to just take it off and put it in the big closet. There was absolutely nowhere to hang towels besides the shower rod. and the toilet paper roll holder was broken in the bathroom with the leaky Jacuzzi. I always get a place with a Jacuzzi and this was inoperable. The shower in the other bathroom screeched each time someone used it and was super annoying. In the pictures, it looks like you can see out of every room…and you can…if you stand up. If you sit in the chairs or on the couch, everything is blocked by huge furniture or a FAKE TREE or a huge wooden ladder that is broken and cannot be closed. We have stayed in many VRBOs over the past 6 years and have never been so disappointed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/8

After searching several options for our Yellowstone Park trip, my husband and I chose this property, because it looked so peaceful and remote. It is so beautiful with the gorgeous views of Abasorkee-Beartooth Mountain and Emigrant Peak---the pictures on property site do not do it justice. The property is a great haven, with very comfortable beds, huge kitchen, lots of wide open spaces, and postcard views from every window. We were very fortunate to see a double rainbow on my birthday! If you actually do want to find civilization, you are very close to Chico Hot Springs with excellent dining, as well as swimming pool and hot tub. We would go back to stay at this beautiful home immediately if we could--it truly is Paradise!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We stayed for three weeks during the summertime and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the prairie and the comfort of the home. We made quite a few trips into Yellowstone and it was always nice after a long day of exploring to come home to such a nice place, BBQ on the deck and eat dinner surrounded by such great views. Any time we had a question Mark was very prompt in replying which made our stay so easy and enjoyable. It was a great place for us to escape to and quite a different and welcome experience than daily city life!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Just returned yesterday from our week in this wonderful home. Luxury and comfort in the middle of Paradise Valley. Less than minutes from Chico Hot Springs (pool, saloon, dining room, activities) but perfectly quiet and beautiful at night. Our family, four boys 14 or less, loved to have downtime with WII and DirecTV. Mom and Dad loved the high speed wireless to stay in touch just enough. Beautifully decorated and provided. We could not have been happier. Everything we needed as a private home-base for river rafting, horseback riding, hiking, and fine dining (do NOT miss the Chico dining room or Yellowstone Valley Lodge). Thanks for a great week, we will be back!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: We built this as a family get away- with a love of fishing as the reason. Everyone who comes here feels at home, and free to express themselves. That's why we built it.
Why the Owner Chose Paradise Valley:
I think it's one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, am reminded time and time again when I visit from my home in Seattle.
I often find myself in tears when I turn down hwy 89 and East River road, with the Mountains rising all around me.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The property is excellent for birding and in the winter months, deer and elk are often seen grazing nearby. We are close enough to Chico Hot Springs that you can easily drive down for an early morning soak before breakfast.
