The Akialoa Beach Property is located on the sunny, West side of Kauai in Kekaha, across from one of the most beautiful stretches of white sand beaches in the world. Kekaha is an old Hawaii sugar plantation town and the gateway to the Waimea Canyon, described by Mark Twain as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.
Three miles to the East of the Akialoa Beach Property and Cottage is Waimea Town, where Captain Cook first landed in September 20, 1778. Waimea Town is a bustling little town with two supermarkets (Ishihara's Market and Big Save), two banks, a credit union, a video rental store, a movie theatre and several good restaurants.

The Akialoa Cottage vacation rental is a three bedroom, two bath home located across the street from the beach in Kekaha, on Kauai's West side. The cottage is air-conditioned, has a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, covered parking, a large deck area around the refreshing in-ground pool and a lawn area with inviting hammocks hung between coconut palms - for your relaxing pleasure.
The Akialoa Cottage vacation rental is decorated with Island-style furnishings of bamboo and teak. The floors are oak and tile; the jalousie windows allow you to open the cottage up to the tropical ocean breezes.
The Cottage
The kitchen has a glass top range with an oven, full size refrigerator with an automatic icemaker, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, blender, coffee grinder and coffee maker. Complete cooking and dining supplies are provided. The dining area has a large dining table (seats 6 people) plus a desk and telephone for your convenience.
Local calls made from the Cottage vacation rental are free. The living area is equipped with a TV, VCR, CD player and Stereo. There is comfortable Island-style furnishings to relax in and a game table. The lanai (patio) has a gas barbeque and is a perfect place for having your meals, cocktails and enjoying the magnificent sunsets over the "Forbidden Island" of Niihau seen in the distance from the Cottage.
The master bedroom has a king size bed with a pillow top mattress, TV/VCR, telephone, air conditioning, a day bed on which to relax and read and a window seat overlooking the swimming pool with a view of the blue pacific. The second bedroom has a twin trundle bed. The third bedroom has air conditioning and a Queen size bed.
The Main House
Enjoy fabulous ocean and Niihau sunset views from wrap around covered decks on this two-story, spacious, modern, plantation-style home with a pool. Rent the whole house or just the upstairs, 1 bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms or the downstairs, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Mom's 80th Celebration

8 of my family (age 30-80) rented the main house for 10 days in January 2012. Many differing interests so we were happy to have some separation space for folks who wanted to sleep in vs. early risers. We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. The house was totally clean. We had one issue with a slipping toilet seat that was fixed pronto. We found ourselves also cooking most nights and had plenty of room for everyone upstairs, the table sat 8 easily and there were 2 barstools if we had needed them. 2 King bedrooms, 1 double twin bedroom (we put the beds together to make a king), along with 2 hideabeds allowed comfortable sleeping for everyone. 3 ½ bathrooms gave everyone plenty of room for their “stuff”. Laundry on both floors made it very convenient. We did not have an outside table upstairs; that would have been nice. But we still spent most sunsets there sipping our umbrella drinks and admiring the skies. The pool was a little chilly, but some of us still made use of it, no problems there. The BBQ worked well and we used it. No hammock!! But I suspect it will be re-hung when the weather gets nicer. This is on the west side of the island, where things are more laid back. If you’re looking for parties, this isn’t the place. But for relaxing and taking time out, it was wonderful. We still drove to all the other sites and really appreciated it when we returned “home”. Thank you, Kendall and all, for making my mom’s BD a great celebration.

My family and I rented the house in early November. The house was as it appeared on the site. Joel and Kendall couldn't have been more accomodating. The house was one of the cleanest rental properties we have visited. The house was well furnished to meet all our needs during our 2 week stay. We cooked most of our meals, so we utilized most of the kitchen as well as the grill outside. The pool was kept very clean as well. We will definitely be back!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My husband, myself and our three teenage children had a wonderful fun filled time at the cottage. It was wonderful to have our own home complete with swimming pool and beach to relax at. Our hosts and stand in hosts, Monica and Sonny, made us feel part of the family. We are filled with many happy memories of our time in paradise. Thank you!
