Hale Hina is a luxurious, newer, updated home that provides guests with a stunning ocean-based setting, hi-end comfort, and ideal location. Just two hundred feet from the ocean, it is nestled in an extra-large, palm and coconut-tree filled setting that provides an estate-like sense of privacy and space far greater than most homes in this area. Views of the ocean are seen from the lanai, living room, and master bedroom. Tasteful furnishings are found throughout the house, and numerous decorator touches create a feeling of elegance and comfort throughout the home. This is a home and a setting you will never want to leave.
This light-filled home has three large, tastefully-decorated bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. The spacious master bedroom features a lovely ocean view, and the HUGE master bathroom includes a double shower and a Jacuzzi bathtub. The kitchen is large and fully equipped, and the ocean-side lanai is spacious and inviting, perfect for dining or simply to savor the fresh, breezy tropical ambiance and views of whitewater waves.

Hale Hina is within easy walking distance of spectacular Tunnels beach, where you'll find some of the best snorkeling and swimming in Kauai. You can walk out of the house with your morning coffee, down a short garden path, and be on the beach in less than two minutes enjoying a secluded ocean vista in nearly complete privacy. The short walk from the house to Tunnels Beach passes whitewater waves crashing along a crescent-shaped cove, and is one of the most beautiful beach walks in all of Hawaii. But there is something so restful about having a morning coffee on the ocean-side lanai that it might cause you to postpone that walk on the beach for just a few minutes longer...
You'll also enjoy the lava-rock outdoor shower, and an extraordinarily large, travertine-tiled, furnished outdoor sitting area in which to enjoy the restful tropical gardens, complete with a Hawaiian daybed. There are plenty of Tommy Bahama beach chairs, snorkeling gear, beach toys, boogie boards, MP3 players, and plenty of books, games, and movies. Stayed here with a group of six for four nights. The house is great, exactly what we were expecting. The property manager was a total pro, and gave us a great recommendation on a personal chef who cooked for us one night. This is a great jumping off point to explore the north shore, including the hike to Hanakapi'ai Falls, which I think should be mandatory for any able-bodied adult visitor to the island. Would also be a great rental for a family that just wanted a quiet (and beautiful) getaway. If you're planning on exploring the whole island, on the other hand, this would not be the place to stay. Even the commute to Hanalei for dinner is 15 minutes of winding roads each way. Stayed on the south shore at a hotel in Poipu for the second half of our trip, but preferred our time at Hale Hina. We have done 12 rentals in Kauai--this house was the nicest. Very high-quality furnishings, down to the smallest detail. Very nice beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. Beautiful lush grounds. Very quiet area. Responsive management--the dishwasher stopped working and we had a new one within a day. One thing you need to know--the house is NOT on Tunnels Beach, which is a few blocks away. The beach opposite the house is nice for sitting, but NO swimming, and the sand is VERY dense, so that it is virtually impossible to walk down the beach to Tunnels Beach (which is beautiful, and okay for swimming and, surf permitting, snorkeling). You need to walk about a half mile down the road, or drive, although parking spaces are few. One suggestion for the owner: It would be nice to have more light on the lanai. The only light goes on with the ceiling fan out there, which is not always desirable to have on, during slightly chilly evenings. It would be nice to have the option of light without the fan.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house was the perfect way to wrap up our multi-island honeymoon.We have very much enjoyed this beautiful and truly immaculate home! We really lucked out to have absolutely divine weather everyday. We got in a couple of great snorkeling days at Tunnels before we were greeted by 15-foot swells - equally terrifying and beautiful! Dear Mike and Deborah, We loved, loved, loved staying here. Your home is so beautiful and comfortable, with everything we needed. Kauai is paradise, and the Kalaulau is the most beautiful hike I've ever been on. Loved the beaches, kayaking, paddleboarding and hiking.
