This cabin was a little piece of heaven for my husband and me. The creek was so peaceful and is just below the screened-in porch. The decor of the whole cabin is perfect for this type of place. We have recommended it to our friends and plan to stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 10/10

My wife and 4 sons spent the labor day weekend in this cabin. We loved it. This is a rustic cabin but very comfortable. We cooked several meals in the kitchen. It was very close to downtown. Great experience and we will be back. Thanks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This little jewel will save you lots of money during your stay because you'll want to stay around and enjoy the hammock, swing, and cookout area by the creek! We spent most of our time outside watching the trout chase each other and "panning for gold". It is very close to town, which is convenient, but nestled in a spot that gives you a real mountain experience. The main part of the cabin was built 80 years ago, and the owners have kept the real cabin feel to it, not "cheesed up" like so many others there. The owner is super hospitable and easy to work with. It was close to Grotto Falls trailhead, where we enjoyed a beautiful hike with the kids. Don't plan on using the oven, but the outside cooking area is much more fun anyway!! Be sure to take a vehicle that is medium SUV/truck size or smaller so you can fit in the parking place. We'll be back for sure. Cool place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

If you are looking for rustic, but close to town this is your cabin! The pictures and description are pretty accurate. The creek is great and loud- no need to open the windows to hear it! The cabin is a great size for two people. My husband and I came to Gatlinburg for 4 days and this was his pick on which cabin to choose from. I narrowed it down from what seemed like hundreds to five, based on price, distance to town, and an extra (view/creek/etc.) and let him choose. I think the creek did it for him! The price (stay 2 nights in March and get the third free) could not be beat! We also had to call April about an issue and she was very helpful and Bryan was quick to respond via email. If you want to stay in an old cabin this would be great for you and your small family. There are some areas that should be pointed out to other guest. I wouldn't call them cons, but I would want to know. The parking is a real issue. Only room for one car and the smaller the car/suv the better. I would have to get out and help my husband park every time- we did fit a Toyota four-runner, but it was tight. Too far in the front and you are in the creek, too far in the back and you will mess up your car. I can't imagine parking here in bad weather or with small children. The house, being very cabiny, is very poorly lit and dark. Ladies- bring a mirrror and light for make-up. The kitchen was fine for us; we took advantage for all the great places in Gburg, but I would not want to cook a meal for a family in there numerous nights. The mattresses were a bit uncomfortable but not bad and you will need to bring your own linens (which we saw as a positive). It is too far from town to really walk, especially with kids. You can do it, but I won't with little ones. Our last point was the only thing that really bothered us- the cabin has a cabiny smell. Some others have reviewed this as a positive, as authenic! So to each their own! We did like the cabin and as I stated before- if you want rustic, old, and charming in that way- this is your place. In fact it is the olny place like that I could find in Gburg! Our trip was great and I am glad we stayed here- I would recommend it. Overall close to town, affordable, and very clean.Owner response: Thanks for your review. Just to let guests know we have placed new pillowtop mattresses in both bedrooms this summer (2012). Nice and comfy.

This cabin offered so much-it was clean, comfortable, secluded, but still so convenient to activities and the park without being in the midst of all the chaos and noise. Because we were a last-minute booking we actually watched the maid clean and she is very thorough. We were so glad we had read about this property before heading to the mountains-we threw in some sheets and linens in case we were able to stay here.We would rather bring our own linens if it helps us to afford a place like this.We could listen to that river forever and relaxing on the hammock or the porch is great! Parking is tight with room for only one vehicle, but so worth it.Brian was very accommodating and patient with us for calling at the last minute.Hope to go back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I just returned from a 5 night stay at this cabin (May 13-18, 2011). If you're a "Hilton" type of person, then do not read any further. If you're a nature lover, who loves charm, cozy, character and creeks, then this is your place! We were looking for a place to stay on a river and we found it. The river is so loud we thought we kept hearing heavy rain on the rooftop - we LOVED it! My favorite times spent at the cabin were in the mornings sitting out on the screened patio with my hubz, drinking my coffee and seeing/hearing the Roaring Fork River. The cabin is located in a great spot - not too far from the Gatlinburg shopping strip, but far enough away from the hustle & bustle - I wouldn't walk to town, however; seems a bit too far for that. The weather wasn't the greatest while we were there, but it didn't stop us from enjoying everything Gatlinburg and the cabin had to offer. They had a ton of movies (mostly VHS) to choose from and we had brought our own DVD's. My husband is a big guy (6'4") so the bathroom was a little on the cramped side for him, but for me only being 5'1", it was just fine. A few people in reviews I read complained about the floor and its slant (which I personally feel is a silly thing to complain about). Again, I LOVE character and rustic/unique qualities of the places I stay; the floor gives the cabin its charm. I'm trying hard to think of anything I'd change about the cabin and I'm hard-pressed to find anything, because my expectations weren't the Hilton. The pictures depict the place to a "t". I even loved the smell of the cabin when we walked in - again, rustic. We hope to return again at some point in the winter months so we can enjoy the fireplace - it was closed for the season. Both the A/C and heat works great; we had to use both because of the temperature changes. You have to wash your dishes by hand - big deal. CHARM, CHARM, CHARM! Kudos to Bryan and April for their ideas in making this cabin a wonderful place to stay worry-free and for letting others enjoy this little hidden treasure!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

I will start off by saying,WOW,what an AMAZING place it is.Nevermind the small parking space,i would of parked a mile away just to get to stay here.Out of all the places that i have been, from California to Miami,Fl,Brian and April's cabin has to be the best place that i have stayed while on any of my vacations,it brought back so many memories for my wife and i,especially when i went in through the front door, when i turned the old style door knob that takes the old skeleton key,it reminded me of my Grandmaws house when i used to go there when i was a kid,and the smell of the fire place when you walk in,Amazing is what it is,very rustic atmosphere and very clean. Now that i am back home i really do miss the sound of the creek outside of the cabin, but i will return year after year,it is one of those places that you hate to leave. My family had a great time, the kids did'nt want to leave, while we were out in town visiting some attractions on our last day it was kinda depressing like when i was a kid at the beach and that feeling of not wanting to go home kinda feeling,Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your cabin Brian and April,my family and i had the best time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Authentic & charming. That says it all... This was a perfect location for a "Father-n-Son" retreat away from the family. Plenty of room for the two of us, each with our own room & bed. Everything seemed in good repair, although some floors were very "out of level". Conveniently close to town (a mile to the strip, another mile down it to the far end, and 2 miles all the way back home - but you've got all day, right? Close enough to drive in just a few minutes in light traffic if you choose, but far enough away from the strip & noise to appreciate a little country-creekside flavor. There are other nearby properties, one just across the creek from the grill and hammock poles, but it still feels like your own little private creek-side paradise. If you want all the comforts of home, you won't find them all here - but if your expectations are aligned with an authentic cabin experience, with a few modern conveniences, You'll love The Ole Creek Cabin. It's really very comfortable... Bring only one mid-size or smaller vehicle, and plenty of parking talent. The pull-off is adjacent to the roadway, between it and the end of the foot bridge. The side of the vehicle that ends up parked by the road will only have a foot or two of clearance with the traffic driving by, but the speed limit there is slow and posted, so just be careful allowing exits from your vehicle towards the road side. Plan on doing dishes by hand. Plan on getting out first to protect small children, some pets, or the elderly from possible falls near the parking area, until across the bridge and "boundaries" are established. Bring all linens. Bring hammocks & maybe other outdoor furniture, but those on the porch could be moved outside, I suppose. Bring soap for the shower in addition to all toilerties you'd already bring. Maybe extra TP. Large enough for 4 to be "trapped" during inclement weather, comfortable beds and furniture, good central heat, acceptable, but small fireplace. Wood was provided, as were extra charcoal and some other expendables. Note that during heavy rains (and multiple flash flood warnings...), the Roaring Fork under the foot bridge put on quite a show, but never approached being unsafe of felt scary. Well named, the "Roaring Fork". Slightly slow to return deposit, but returned fairly. Very nice and easy folks to work with, Bryan was very accomodating and flexible with our needs. I absolutely will stay here again! Thanks,Y'all ! NICE !Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My sisters and I ran across this cabin last year and loved it so much we had to come again this year. Im taken back to a simpler time when we walk across the the bridge and into the cabin. It really is peaceful as described in other reviews. We didnt want the condo experience. This is definately our "cup of tea". Very close to town so we are able hop in the car and hit the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge shops. Seems like the owners are continually updating. There is a new charcoal grill out next to the picnic table and a new TV in one of the bedrooms that wasnt there last year. Yes we recommend it and will stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad you had a good time and yes we would love to have you stay a third...
