This cabin was a little piece of heaven for my husband and me. The creek was so peaceful and is just below the screened-in porch. The decor of the whole cabin is perfect for this type of place. We have recommended it to our friends and plan to stay here again.

River, privacy, comfortable, and convenient

This cabin offered so much-it was clean, comfortable, secluded, but still so convenient to activities and the park without being in the midst of all the chaos and noise. Because we were a last-minute booking we actually watched the maid clean and she is very thorough. We were so glad we had read about this property before heading to the mountains-we threw in some sheets and linens in case we were able to stay here.We would rather bring our own linens if it helps us to afford a place like this.We could listen to that river forever and relaxing on the hammock or the porch is great! Parking is tight with room for only one vehicle, but so worth it.Brian was very accommodating and patient with us for calling at the last minute.Hope to go back!

Wonderful getaway!

My husband and I just returned from a 5 night stay at this cabin (May 13-18, 2011). If you're a "Hilton" type of person, then do not read any further. If you're a nature lover, who loves charm, cozy, character and creeks, then this is your place! We were looking for a place to stay on a river and we found it. The river is so loud we thought we kept hearing heavy rain on the rooftop - we LOVED it! My favorite times spent at the cabin were in the mornings sitting out on the screened patio with my hubz, drinking my coffee and seeing/hearing the Roaring Fork River. The cabin is located in a great spot - not too far from the Gatlinburg shopping strip, but far enough away from the hustle & bustle - I wouldn't walk to town, however; seems a bit too far for that. The weather wasn't the greatest while we were there, but it didn't stop us from enjoying everything Gatlinburg and the cabin had to offer. They had a ton of movies (mostly VHS) to choose from and we had brought our own DVD's. My husband is a big guy (6'4") so the bathroom was a little on the cramped side for him, but for me only being 5'1", it was just fine. A few people in reviews I read complained about the floor and its slant (which I personally feel is a silly thing to complain about). Again, I LOVE character and rustic/unique qualities of the places I stay; the floor gives the cabin its charm. I'm trying hard to think of anything I'd change about the cabin and I'm hard-pressed to find anything, because my expectations weren't the Hilton. The pictures depict the place to a "t". I even loved the smell of the cabin when we walked in - again, rustic. We hope to return again at some point in the winter months so we can enjoy the fireplace - it was closed for the season. Both the A/C and heat works great; we had to use both because of the temperature changes. You have to wash your dishes by hand - big deal. CHARM, CHARM, CHARM! Kudos to Bryan and April for their ideas in making this cabin a wonderful place to stay worry-free and for letting others enjoy this little hidden treasure!

Back in time!!

I will start off by saying,WOW,what an AMAZING place it is.Nevermind the small parking space,i would of parked a mile away just to get to stay here.Out of all the places that i have been, from California to Miami,Fl,Brian and April's cabin has to be the best place that i have stayed while on any of my vacations,it brought back so many memories for my wife and i,especially when i went in through the front door, when i turned the old style door knob that takes the old skeleton key,it reminded me of my Grandmaws house when i used to go there when i was a kid,and the smell of the fire place when you walk in,Amazing is what it is,very rustic atmosphere and very clean. Now that i am back home i really do miss the sound of the creek outside of the cabin, but i will return year after year,it is one of those places that you hate to leave. My family had a great time, the kids did'nt want to leave, while we were out in town visiting some attractions on our last day it was kinda depressing like when i was a kid at the beach and that feeling of not wanting to go home kinda feeling,Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your cabin Brian and April,my family and i had the best time.

Perfect if your expectations are for truly rustic

Authentic & charming. That says it all... This was a perfect location for a "Father-n-Son" retreat away from the family. Plenty of room for the two of us, each with our own room & bed. Everything seemed in good repair, although some floors were very "out of level". Conveniently close to town (a mile to the strip, another mile down it to the far end, and 2 miles all the way back home - but you've got all day, right? Close enough to drive in just a few minutes in light traffic if you choose, but far enough away from the strip & noise to appreciate a little country-creekside flavor. There are other nearby properties, one just across the creek from the grill and hammock poles, but it still feels like your own little private creek-side paradise. If you want all the comforts of home, you won't find them all here - but if your expectations are aligned with an authentic cabin experience, with a few modern conveniences, You'll love The Ole Creek Cabin. It's really very comfortable... Bring only one mid-size or smaller vehicle, and plenty of parking talent. The pull-off is adjacent to the roadway, between it and the end of the foot bridge. The side of the vehicle that ends up parked by the road will only have a foot or two of clearance with the traffic driving by, but the speed limit there is slow and posted, so just be careful allowing exits from your vehicle towards the road side. Plan on doing dishes by hand. Plan on getting out first to protect small children, some pets, or the elderly from possible falls near the parking area, until across the bridge and "boundaries" are established. Bring all linens. Bring hammocks & maybe other outdoor furniture, but those on the porch could be moved outside, I suppose. Bring soap for the shower in addition to all toilerties you'd already bring. Maybe extra TP. Large enough for 4 to be "trapped" during inclement weather, comfortable beds and furniture, good central heat, acceptable, but small fireplace. Wood was provided, as were extra charcoal and some other expendables. Note that during heavy rains (and multiple flash flood warnings...), the Roaring Fork under the foot bridge put on quite a show, but never approached being unsafe of felt scary. Well named, the "Roaring Fork". Slightly slow to return deposit, but returned fairly. Very nice and easy folks to work with, Bryan was very accomodating and flexible with our needs. I absolutely will stay here again! Thanks,Y'all ! NICE !

My sisters and I ran across this cabin last year and loved it so much we had to come again this year. Im taken back to a simpler time when we walk across the the bridge and into the cabin. It really is peaceful as described in other reviews. We didnt want the condo experience. This is definately our "cup of tea". Very close to town so we are able hop in the car and hit the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge shops. Seems like the owners are continually updating. There is a new charcoal grill out next to the picnic table and a new TV in one of the bedrooms that wasnt there last year. Yes we recommend it and will stay again.

Owner response:Glad you had a good time and yes we would love to have you stay a third...

We were needing a little rest and relaxation and this was the ticket. We loved the outdoor picnic table and grill where we cooked hamburgers and watched the kids play in the creek which they LOVED! They threw rocks and waded around nearly all afternoon. Couldnt have asked for a more authentic cabin. It was awesome. It slept well, was clean, well kept and the pictures provided were true to the cabin. We would definately recommed this cabin.

Should be advertised as a "camping cabin" not "rustic"

Guest: no nickname (carrboro)
Date of Stay: 12/25/08 Review Submitted: 11/07/10

Pros: Situated on a rushing creek. The charm of a tiny, rustic, hunting cabin, which it is/was. Very close town. Cons: Not clean, poor mattresses, floors uneven, small bathroom, parking for one car only. Nothing looked clean, I kept my bath suppies in the living room. The kitchen was charming in a 1950's sort of way until I started to actually imagine cooking in it. There were lots of knic knacs and historic cooking utentils tacked to the walls. Picture an historic kitchen laid out to look like things were in the past . Very charming but you wouln't want to cook in there. The TV was positioned over the fireplace. No problem, except that the draft (or lack of) in the fireplace loaded smoke into the house with only a small fire. I think if this was advertised as a shelter a little bit bettter than camping it would be a good sell. To charge the equivilant of a clean cabin with clean sheets on the bed, a workable kithen and a comfortable bed is false advertising. I feel for these people. They probably don't have the money to have it professionally cleaned after each guest and they should that. Parking. Wow. Bring a flashlight if you arrive at night and have however is going to get the car in wear specialt suit so they don't get struck by traffic in the process. We have a very snall car. Not an SUV. Parking in this one spot is tteteras. If you move too far forward you will end up in the creek. We parked our small ford focus, Wih lots of directing and the ass end of our vichles was still out in the road.Besides sleeping uncomfortaly I worried that our car might be stuck by traffic during the night.Over all I thinnk this place was beautiful, historic and pleasant but not for the money they charge nightly..

Owner response:Sorry your experience was not positive. We appreciate your feedback as we strive to ensure customer satisfaction and desire to keep the cabin up to date and clean. We have a professional cleaning service clean after every guest. This is not a large "new" cabin and the pictures provided are representative.

Great Gatlinburg Weekend Getaway!

Guest: John and Connie (Alabama)
Date of Stay: 10/23/10 Review Submitted: 10/27/10

My husband and I just returned from a four-day, three-night stay in the Ole Creekside Cabin in Gatlinburg, TN. We were so pleasantly surprised to find a cabin so close to the downtown area. The reason we chose this cabin from the hundreds we viewed online was because of its authentic look and it was actually right beside one of those beautiful mountain streams. We were thrilled to be so close to the water. We sat on the screened in front porch and listened to the stream for hours. We were so pleased to be able to spend our time in such a rustic setting, but still be able to enjoy modern conveniences. We watched the Alabama/Tennessee football game on the flatscreen television that hangs above the creek rock fireplace on Saturday and talked about the contrast. Also, we stayed connected during our stay -- if you sit in just the right spot on the living room sofa you can pick up 3G service. We visited some friends who were also on a weekend getaway in the area. They were staying in one of those orange-stained log cabins, with a green metal roof that was jammed into a "neighborhood" of "cabins" up on the mountain. They were paying twice as much as we were for accomodations and other than having a distant view of the mountains from an outside deck, the atmosphere was just not we look for when we get a chance to visit the Smokies. We couldn't wait to get back to the Ole Creekside Cabin. Without a doubt, we have agreed that this was the most relaxing trip we've ever taken. It was like when we crossed that little footbridge, we left all of our worries on the other side. We highly recommend staying in this cabin and plan on going back ourselves!
