The Brasstown Creek House is a beautiful, centrally located spot to spend some quality time, whether you're looking for peace and quiet, a base from which to explore the area, a place to stay while visiting family and friends, a place to host a gathering or to take classes at the nearby, nationally known John C. Campbell Folk School.
The Creek House can be found three miles southeast of Brasstown, NC at 8105 Old US 64 in Clay County. The Smoky Mountains surround the Creek House and provide spectacular scenery. The Creek House is situated directly on Brasstown Creek which borders the edge of the Hyatt Farm. What this means to guests is lots of fun; wading, tubing, fishing, hiking, and picnicing. Quieter enjoyments at the Creek House include watching the brown herons stalk up and down the creek looking for a likely spot to catch a few fish, and listening to the creek lull you to sleep.

Beautiful spot on the creek!
We were pleasantly surprised by the serene and quiet spot on the creek, despite the highway being across the creek and through the trees! Really never paid any attention to traffic noises! Sandra was very friendly and gave us a quick house tour before leaving us to our weekend of relaxation. The ONLY issue that I had trouble with was phone service, but considering the location, in the lowlands of the mountains, on curvy roads and pretty far from any major cities, it didn't really surprise me. This is not something that is within Sandra's control, of course, as we experienced the same issue most of the weekend as we drove and hiked around the GA/NC area. Cabin is very clean and furnished comfortably, with just enough kitchen ware for 4 to 6 people - nothing fancy, but nothing fancy was needed! Hot tub was AHHHmazing on the cold nights! Hope to pay a return visit here at some point this year!
Incredibly beautiful and very peaceful. A very relaxing retreat. Bass and Sandra are very nice.
The most relaxing week I’ve ever had. For me it was a total disconnect and much needed down time. My only break in more than six years of care giving. Sandra is a wonderful host and promptly addressed some light bulbs that blew out my second day there. Highly recommend for R & R.
Sweet...clean...comfortable...cozy...beautiful setting...can't wait to return!
The front porch overlooks a babbling creek and offers rocking chairs to relax are ponder... nice private bedrooms with spacious bathrooms all set in the hillside....sunrises over the hills are a must see!
Great place for a family but not a couple looking for seclusion!
First of all, if I had noticed that the check-in time was from 3-5pm only, I would have never booked it. The owner was very understanding and hospitable, a little too hospitable for a couple that wanted away from everything. As a couple, we were looking for seclusion. We didn't find it here as many traveled up and down the driveway right in front of the cabin during our stay. Most of them weren't traveling at a slow speed either. We're pretty sure that while we were gone on Saturday, the flower beds were cleaned out or someone dug for worms in them. We felt that intruded on our privacy as renters of the cabin. The towels and wash clothes were soured and musty smelling. Overall the cabin was very clean and the creek was perfect. It would be a perfect place to stay if you have children that would like to play in the creek. It just wasn't what we were looking for.
We went to Brasstown Creek for peace and quiet and found plenty of both.
Cabin rentals are sometimes like activities at the Harrah's Casino a few miles up the road...a gamble which may or may not return big rewards. Brasstown Creek House falls into the former category, with easy access to most of the "border towns" in that part of GA and NC, great scenery and a not-so-busy road system. It is possible to explore many hidden valley and "cove" areas within just a few miles of this property, and also possible to dead-end into an impassible (for 2-WD vehicles) mountain road.
Conveniences such as major grocery stores and good local restaurants are within 15 minutes of the driveway.
The Hyatt family have been renting this house to guests for quite some time and are welcoming and helpful. Although I didn't require guidance provided by their local knowledge, I knew that if I asked it would cheerfully be provided.
If you're in the mood to drop out of the rat race, this is the place to do it.
