About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Full use of the Lake Club amenities (Gym,sauna, pools, spas...ect) DON'T WORRY ABOUT BRINGING YOUR CLUBS! My unit has 4 complete sets of clubs (3 men's (2R/1L) and women's/bag/balls/gloves/tees-just pick up the bag and head to the top of BLR for a breath-taking round of golf).

This cabin differs from most cabin rentals because you are in a full service resort development called Bear Lake Reserve, with great amenities and numerous activities.

Additionally, this cabin has every upgrade and superior to most similar model rentals in the development. Upgrades include ALL wood flooring throughout (most have carpet), as well as, ALL wood ceilings. There are 2 over-sized fireplaces, superior upgraded stainless steel kitchen appliances and huge back deck that is a vaulted wood beam.

From the moment you check, it's first class treatment and amenities. You have a full monthly calendar of scheduled events for resort guests, as well as, a full service resort that includes:

Golf course, boating, kayaking, lake clubhouse, high tech gym, sauna, steam room, jet ski rentals, library with high speed Internet and computer, gourmet restaurant, full service bar, children's park, numerous mapped and cleared hiking trails, huge infinity pool overlooking the large lake and mountains, child pool, 2 huge Jacuzzis, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits...etc. When we stay there, it's not staying in a house, but a 5 star resort.

Check out my homeaway ad listing #275774

The resort is called Bear Lake Reserve. Built on a huge reserve that is high in the Smoky Mountains, yet has the lake below. The beautiful lake boasts numerous natural waterfalls, great boating, water skiing, fishing, kayaking and swimming.

Our cabin/cottage is 3 roomy bedrooms and 2 full baths. The cottage has an extra large indoor and outdoor fireplaces.

The outdoor fireplace is wood burning. The house is wired with free wireless Wi-Fi and Ethernet, free local and long distance calls in the US and is stocked with an impressive collection of first run DVD's and VHS movies, books, games, huge MP3/IPOD/IPHONE speaker system and a seperate stereo/CD player. Three flat screen TV's and full cable with premium channels on all 3.

Master bedroom has a king bed and huge walk-in bathroom and shower, flat screen cable TV. 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds and fishing theme. 3rd bedroom has a queen size bed and flat screen cable TV.

All mattresses are premium and pillow top. Bedding and towels are also premium. Living room has a full pull put out sleeper sofa. Entire house is wood floors and ceilings.

This cabin has more upgrades then almost any cottage in the development. French doors open up to a vaulted wood ceiling and wood deck, over-looking the mountains (almost 3,000 feet up), with wood rocking chairs and full dining table.

We are up in the tree tops, but you can hear the rushing falls that lie just below the house. Kitchen is top of the line with stainless steel appliances and gourmet gas cooking. Fully stocked with all cookware and utensils needed, as well as, all small appliances.

We are located about a mile (1.3)from the entrance, on an easy-to-drive street, even in the Winter (some are a scary drive up).

Once you enter our home, you'll feel like you're in a luxury hotel. Fully stocked with soaps, shampoo, coffee, and lots of fluffy towels. Washer/dryer in closet, with detergent and lint towels.

THE HOME IS PET FRIENDLY. A $100 NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED. For nonpet owners, the home is fully cleaned after pet usage and you will NOT know a pet was our guest.

The decor is true mountain, with plenty of bears, rustic art and a huge chainsaw bear named 'Jon Jon' who greets you at our front door. Home also has a large wrap around porch in the front of the house with rocking chairs. Full gas powered air/heat and remote weather station.

Use of clubhouse for our guests which includes a huge infinity pool, children's pool, Jacuzzis, pool slides, professional gym (over looking the lake and mountains), steam/sauna, children's play room and children's activities, massage rooms, movie theatre, library with computer and internet, gourmet restaurant, bar, and tiki bar. Including lounge chairs and towels. VERY reasonable boat, jet ski and kayak rentals (free kayak use for guests) on site. Scheduled events everyday for children and adults.

The historic town of Sylva is 20 min. away and has everything you need, including great restaurants, a SUPER Wal-Mart, CVS, Lowe's, you name it, it's there. The Cabin is 10 min. from famous Western Carolina Univ., who have great college games and events. 25 min. from Dillsboro and the unique railroad. Downhill skiing in the Winter at Maggie Valley and great golf everywhere.

About Cindy Bruschi

Years ago my husband and I fell in love with the mountains of North Carolina. Every year we vacationed here and dreamed of owning our own place. We looked for years to find the perfect location and we found it here at Bear Lake Reserve. We are an active couple who enjoy playing golf, hiking, kayaking, biking, boating and other sports. We live in South Florida and love escaping the heat. Our time right now is limited, with both of us having demanding professional jobs. We can usually only get up to our home 2-3 times a year, for long weeks. We consider our time in NC a real treat and spend our time enjoying our home and the area.

Cindy Bruschi purchased this cottage in 2006

What makes this cottage unique

Bear Lake Reserve is unique in that you have both the mountains and the lake. We chose this particular development to buy our home, after doing over 10 years of research. Our home is located near so much. From fine dining, galleries, supermarkets, rafting and tubing, casinos, tourist attractions, golf, boating, kayaking and yes, even skiing. I plan a long girls weekend right in the middle of Winter, to go snow skiing at Maggie Valley and hiking in the brisk cold air. Having put our love and appreciation into our home, we want all our guests to feel invited and welcome. On our particular street, Whispering Falls Court, we have wonderful neighbors, who we get together with and entertain while we're staying there. It's a friendly, active and vibrant community.

Our family just spent a week at this cabin and it was fantastic! The cabin is exactly as described. Morning coffee on the back deck listening to the creek below was very relaxing. We definitely took advantage of the lodge/lake amenities. Fishing, canoeing, jet skiing. We found rope swings on the lake that the kids loved. The waterfalls were beautiful. We relaxed by the pool--even had a bear cross the road in front of us on the way back to the cabin. Whitewater rafting on the Nantahala river was so much fun. The owners and Sundog Rentals were great to deal with. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Enjoyed our week in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

Two adults and two mini dashounds enjoyed our week in the NC Mountains. The rental was exactly as described. Very clean, nicely decorated, furnished with everything we needed and well maintained. Cindy the owner was great. She responded rapidly to my questions and was very nice. She sincerely wants you to enjoy your stay and we did. We enjoyed the area trails and waterfalls. Really enjoyed the fireplace on the deck while watching college football thru the window back in the house. Go Bucks!

SunDog management promised wood for the fire place but really only supplied enough for 2 of our 7 days. We were able to purchase some from a guy in the next town.

The staff at the Club House was very friendly and nice. My husband enjoyed a round of golf. Very scenic.

Enjoyed a day trip to Highlands.

Thanks for sharing your property with us.

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

The Bruschi home was absolutely perfect! We spent the weekend there for a wedding near by, the home was exactly as described and more. I spent most of the weekend at the cabin babysitting my 9 week old grandbaby and the house was perfect. Very clean and well maintained and the owners have everything there you could need from a wine opener to free WI-FI. I was very impressed and have stayed in many homes over the years, like I said it was perfect for us. Cindy, the owner was so helpful and stayed in constant contact and was so helpful. I would recommend this to best friends and will!

fantastic time

  • 5 of 5

what a great time. every year a few buddies get together someplace to catch up. this year we found the Bruschi cabin in Bear Lake, what a find.

with these trips we do not have a concrete agenda and that worked perfectly; the area begs that you get outside and "do".

mornings spent hanging out on the porch with a nice fire eating a great breakfast; you will need the energy. by mid morning the gang (4 of us) was ready to roll, we'd head to the tennis courts on the top of the mountain; we had a nice "friendly" tournament over our 3 days. back to the cabin for lunch then take to exploring the area hikes, drives, etc. late afternoon was reserved for the golf course, what a great track - short, but a good challenge and not too much for late in the day. after golf back to the great porch, cold beverages, catching up and on more than one occasion off to the Lake House to hang out by the lake, awesome scenery with a made to relax atmosphere. top that off with a great dinner, more catching up, and a healthy fire on the porch. add some college football and baseball playoffs and you got yourself a GREAT time.

Cindy, thanks for staying in touch leading up to our arrival. Thanks for making the place so comfortable. I suppose the best compliment I/we can give (having been to many places over the years) is we walked in and one of the first comments was "this place just feels good".

thanks again,

Great weekend in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Our family just spent a quiet and relaxing weekend at the cottage. Everything was perfect! The owners have thought ahead about what they would want on vacation and made sure it is available to rental guests. I could not believe there were golf clubs for us to use! The cottage was decorated nicely and the furniture was very comfortable. We hope to visit again soon.
