Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

A rushing stream wraps around the back of our mountain cabin in the woods. Located on five acres, the cabin features a cozy dining/living area where you can dine to the sound of the creek or relax in front of the wood stove with a picture perfect view of the stream. The recently renovated cabin features Corian kitchen counters, beautiful wood floors throughout and lofted ceilings for a spacious feel. We purchased top of the line mattresses for the two bedrooms and for the futons in the living room and in the den. Walk into any room in the cabin and you can hear the soothing sound of the creek. Plan a picnic in our outdoor area with its vintage wood stove and grill or relax on the deck--we have two--one in front of the cabin and one behind it right over the creek. Excellent hiking is available right outside our door.

Highlands with its gourmet restaurants and inviting shops is a 40 minute drive from our door. Franklin is twenty minutes away with its museums, gem mines, fun restaurants and shops. If you're looking for peace and quiet and the refreshing solace of nature, this is the cabin for you. Lots of room for the kids to run around and they will love playing in the creek. The cabin is best for 4 adults, but we also have two comfortable futons for kids. Teenagers will love hiking up the stream and sliding down the rock into the refreshing stream. This is also the perfect romantic getaway for the two of you. It's nice and cool up here--we have often made fires in the wood stove in the middle of the summer.

Why Marina Fisher chose Franklin

We wanted a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a place where our kids could explore, play baseball and run around.

What makes this cabin unique

Refreshing escape from city life. Time for reflection, rest, quiet conversation and tons of fun. There is nothing like the sound of a rushing stream to ease your stress.

Guestbook comments from the owner

November 22-30, 2008. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us. We truly enjoyed our stay with the peaceful sound of the brook heard throughout the house. We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Made many day trips to the surrounding attractions--Highlands--train ride in Bryson City--Gatlinburg--the Dillard House-etc. Again thank you and perhaps we will rent again in the future.

code issues resulted in major injury

  • 1 of 5

beautiful property with recent upgrades. However step into master bath was not up to code. I fell trying to step down, landed full force on my elbow and ended up with a spiral fracture in my humorous bone that is requiring surgery and metal plate to repair. I will have a scar from my shoulder to my elbow. Fractured in 3 places. I am not trying to downplay this property but I do not want anyone else to suffer a similar injury. I will be out of work 7-8 weeks, there is significant pain and I will have permanent damage and scarring.

This cabin is as lovely as we hoped it would be!

  • 5 of 5

Tucked away in a narrow glen, the cabin was built right next to an exquisite rocky creek. Thoughtfully designed to afford views of the lovely water falls from within, the cabin itself is cosy and pristine and has every modern amenity we would hope for. I can’t imagine a better place to escape the hustle and bustle of city living and enjoy a few days of rest and relaxation.

Very Good

  • 4 of 5

Very quiet, secluded and well furnished for your stay. Clear directions on how and what to use. TV good and WiFi sporadic. Asphalt road turns to good gravel road so don’t think you are lost. Nice stay.

Absolutely well kept and very clean - Beautiful view and absolutely the best place to rest!

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented the property from August 4th - August 11th. And it was absolutely wonderful. It is extremely clean and well kept. This is definitely a home away from home. We cooked all our meals, and all the pots, pans, plates, cutlery, whatever you need were already there and available to use. We as a family wanted to go away for a week and rest, and this place is absolutely the place to do so. The constant running water from the creek in the back was so soothing and relaxing to listen to. We all set up our hammocks over the creek and laid there for hours just enjoying the outdoors. We would absolutely visit again and recommend it to anyone!
