Rushing Stream Wraps Around Modern Cabin on 5 Acres

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-8)

A rushing stream wraps around the back of our mountain cabin in the woods. Located on five acres, the cabin features a cozy dining/living area where you can dine to the sound of the creek or relax in front of the wood stove with a picture perfect view of the stream. The recently renovated cabin features Corian kitchen counters, beautiful wood floors throughout and lofted ceilings for a spacious feel. We purchased top of the line mattresses for the two bedrooms and for the futons in the living room and in the den. Walk into any room in the cabin and you can hear the soothing sound of the creek. Plan a picnic in our outdoor area with its vintage wood stove and grill or relax on the deck--we have two--one in front of the cabin and one behind it right over the creek. Excellent hiking is available right outside our door.

Highlands with its gourmet restaurants and inviting shops is a 40 minute drive from our door. Franklin is a twenty minute drive and it has museums, gem mines, restaurants and shops. If you're looking for peace and quiet and the refreshing solace of nature, this is the cabin for you. Lots of room for the kids to run around and they will love playing in the creek. Teenagers will love hiking up the stream and sliding down the rock into the refreshing stream. This is also the perfect romantic getaway for the two of you. It's nice and cool up here--we have often made fires in the wood stove in the middle of the summer.

Why Marina Fisher chose Smoky Mountains

We wanted a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a place where our kids could explore, play baseball and run around.

What makes this cabin unique

Refreshing escape from city life. Time for reflection, rest, quiet conversation and tons of fun. There is nothing like the sound of a rushing stream to ease your stress.

Guestbook comments from the owner

November 22-30, 2008. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us. We truly enjoyed our stay with the peaceful sound of the brook heard throughout the house. We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Made many day trips to the surrounding attractions--Highlands--train ride in Bryson City--Gatlinburg--the Dillard House-etc. Again thank you and perhaps we will rent again in the future.

Perfect setting in remote mountain area

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was just what we needed. The location and surroundings are just as described. Cool mountain stream, spacious rooms and nicely appointed kitchen. Our family enjoyed grilling out, exploring around the cabin and family game times in the large family/dining area. Our dogs had plenty of room as well. Families who stay here need to know the location is about 20-30 minutes from any available grocery shopping and should plan accordingly.

Cellular service is nonexistent from highlands up to the cabin for Verizon customers so mapping is imperative in advance of leaving the service area. The wifi at the cabin was acceptable and allowed FaceTime contact when needed.

On day one, we traveled to NOC in Bryson City NC for white water rafting on the Nantahala river and had a blast. This is a must do outdoor adventure for those capable of participating. This is about an hour north of the cabin. On another day, we ventured into north Georgia to explore Tallulah Gorge state park. We hiked, fished, swam and picnicked. This gorge is beautiful!! This is also about an hour from the cabin but to the south.

Marina is a wonderful property manager and extremely easy to work with. I appreciate our opportunity to have gotten to stay.

Quaint, peaceful, beautiful, relaxing property!

  • 5 of 5

I visited this property with my brother and his family for Memorial Day Weekend. This place is an incredible retreat. The sounds of the river and the privacy really helped us relax and have some quality family time. The location is far enough away from town to really feel peaceful, but close enough to go grab some groceries a few hours before dinner. The kids loved playing in the creek, and we all enjoyed the fire pit and the wood burning stove. We definitely want to come back! Marina is a great host! Highly recommend this place.

Rushing Stream Retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful, peaceful, restful vacation! We appreciated your sharing this clean and comfortable cabin again with us. Enjoyed the new shower, plenty of towels, smoke free environment, and beautiful rushing stream! Our two fur babies played and walked with us on the large private lot. We look forward to returning soon!

Great trip for 2nd straight year.

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time at the house. It works great for us. We all enjoyed it last year and this year also. We talked about coming next year also. We have been getting together since the last millennium-sounds like a long time-all the guys for a spring weekend. This is working great for us right now. With new family members coming of age we may outgrow the place at some time. I am considering bringing some of our immediate family with grand kids at some time. We are retired now so we'll see. The 'men' like sports and not having espn last year and this year made us scramble a little as we do this the same time every year either NCAA basketball or Masters-we streamed it on the computer-the only drawback.

Thanks. Marina always prompt with business end also. George Cribb
