A rushing stream wraps around the back of our mountain cabin in the woods. Located on five acres, the cabin features a cozy dining/living area where you can dine to the sound of the creek or relax in front of the wood stove with a picture perfect view of the stream. The recently renovated cabin features Corian kitchen counters, beautiful wood floors throughout and lofted ceilings for a spacious feel. We purchased top of the line mattresses for the two bedrooms and for the futons in the living room and in the den. Walk into any room in the cabin and you can hear the soothing sound of the creek. Plan a picnic in our outdoor area with its vintage wood stove and grill or relax on the deck--we have two--one in front of the cabin and one behind it right over the creek. Excellent hiking is available right outside our door.
Highlands with its gourmet restaurants and inviting shops is a 40 minute drive from our door. Franklin is a twenty minute drive and it has museums, gem mines, restaurants and shops. If you're looking for peace and quiet and the refreshing solace of nature, this is the cabin for you. Lots of room for the kids to run around and they will love playing in the creek. Teenagers will love hiking up the stream and sliding down the rock into the refreshing stream. This is also the perfect romantic getaway for the two of you. It's nice and cool up here--we have often made fires in the wood stove in the middle of the summer.

We wanted a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a place where our kids could explore, play baseball and run around.
Refreshing escape from city life. Time for reflection, rest, quiet conversation and tons of fun. There is nothing like the sound of a rushing stream to ease your stress.
November 22-30, 2008. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us. We truly enjoyed our stay with the peaceful sound of the brook heard throughout the house. We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Made many day trips to the surrounding attractions--Highlands--train ride in Bryson City--Gatlinburg--the Dillard House-etc. Again thank you and perhaps we will rent again in the future.

Pictures do not do this justice! We rented for a weekend retreat and it was perfect! Clean, perfectly appointed, the creek is amazing! Will stay again!
This was our fourth stay here and once again we had a great time. The creek was amazing as the kids played and adults relaxed in hammocks we stretched over the creek. We are already planning our vacation for next year.
Perhaps one of the most relaxing vacation sites we have experienced! Easy to find with a GPS and spot on instructions from the owner. The Cabin was larger than we expected and very, very private. The ride up the mountain was like decades of time I enjoyed our nightly fires in the stove, a well appointed clean kitchen and HOT showers. The outdoors just beckons to climb the mountain roads and enjoy nature. In town we visited true antique shops with interesting local finds, stopped at the famous gem mines in the area and attended the Franklin Gem Show. For anyone wanting to regain some "family time" and leave the tense times of the 21st century behind, visit this cabin and experience a simpler time.....
Getting to the property was fun as we drove off tarmac and onto dirt road, we knew we were in for an adventure! The property itself was in a beautiful location, plenty of woods and a stream (creek) that kept my 6 year old busy the entire stay! Inside the cabin had everything we needed to make the stay comfortable, it was clean, tidy and well looked after. One of the many highlights was to go out onto the deck at night and view the stars. Beautiful. Would recommend to families looking for a nature adventure.
As a woman of a certain age and a native Atlantan I have had the opportunity to visit, rent, and even own many a mountain house around the North Carolina /Georgia border. The one I had the pleasure of visiting during a weekend in March was definitely one of the best. It met all of my basic requirements: clean, well stocked lots of light, quiet, comfortable beds and furnishings, private but not desolate. And it also included some very special features such as a waterfall that became a flowing mountain stream that literally surrounded three sides of the house! As soon as I walked inside I could hear the sound of a flowing mountain stream that was the backdrop for our entire stay. Vaulted wood paneled ceilings, a wood burning stove and windows on three walls of the house created a cozy atmosphere as I drank my morning coffee or early evening wine on one of several outside decks or inside rooms in front of the waterfall or overlooking the stream. For activities there were hiking trails and walking paths close by as well as antique shops and art galleries in nearby towns. One day we went for a hike on Whiteside Mountain and then ate lunch at The Edwards Inn in Highlands. However, with the remodeled spacious kitchen in the cabin we enjoyed cooking our meals and eating outside by the stream most of the time.
I would highly recommend this mountain gem for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation
We vacationed here for a week and wished it was 2 weeks. We enjoyed the house and the property. We really liked sleeping to the sound of rushing water every night. Very comfortable for even 2 small groups of people. There is a nice deck in the back, overlooking the mini-waterfalls and creek. A large deck in the front overlooks the creek. Then a lower large outdoor area, that is a covered deck with a table. That spot has 2 shallow wading areas that you can walk right into. The driveway to the house is a great little morning and evening walk, some open field and the rest is woods. Inside, there are 2 "living" areas. One that includes a TV. The eating area was large so it could accommodate a group of people. An adult said the futons were comfortable to sleep on. I think families with kids would really like it, if they enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely come back to this house to stay.
