Windsurfing and surfing brought us to Maui...
Owner - Mark Sloane purchased this house in 2005
Quiet, peaceful, rural location yet super close to beaches, shops, golf and more
The views, private pool and huge, landscaped yard sold us
A quiet neighborhood sets the tone for this relaxing and fabulous oasis. We couldn't have asked for a better location in Wailea. Best uncrowded beach at Keawakapu is a short drive thru the neighborhood. We felt right at home in this clean home that is appropriately decorated. Bright and fresh says it all. Well appointed kitchen and grill. Did I mention the pool or the outdoor shower? All fantastic. This from a well traveled family (with 3 kids under 17) that has stayed in a variety of homes. Great value in our opinion. Great communication from the owner and his on-site contacts. Highly recommended. Only drawback for some families or elderly may be the different levels and the stairs that connect them. Wasn't an issue for us but note multi-level access.
We spent a week here and very much enjoyed our stay. It has everything you need for a fun day at the beach and loved coming home to the pool at the end of our outings. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. We loved the Wailea location and much less crowded than the west shore. Golf at the Emerald was excellent, some of the best views during our 15 day visit. While we prepared several meals at home one of our favorites was Wolfgang Puck's Spago. Tip: invest in or use your Costco card for substantial savings on gas and groceries. The food trucks behind Costco offer cheap eats and good food. Gary the caretaker was wonderful and offered recommendations upon our request.
My family (mom, dad, brother, sister, my wife and 9 month old baby) stayed here over Christmas and New Years and wow! This house MADE our trip! The pictures totally do not do it justice. What you can see from the pictures is a beautiful house with spacious rooms and an open concept with all the amenities. What you can't see is how truly stunning the view is, how quiet and laid back the neighborhood is, how much love and care has gone into the property and how you are so close to anything and everything there is to do in Maui.
Each morning we would wake up, turn on the coffee pot and have coffee and mimosas on the deck watching the whales right there in the bay. We always ate breakfast on the deck which was nice and cool with plenty of seats and privacy. We then would plan our day which either consisted of a 5 min ride to the beach, a 5 min ride to town, a 5 min ride to the liquor store or a 5 second walk to the pool and hot tub. The days we relaxed at the pool were my favorite, plenty of sun but plenty of shade available too. Then lunch was always hot off the bbq in the outdoor kitchen by the pool. At night we would make a big dinner and almost always ate and played games out on the deck while we watched the incredible sunset.
My favorite part were the evenings, after a long day we would all play some games in the huge living room. It really was the highlight of our day. Everyone being together pouring our own drinks, listening to our own music. You really can't get that on the resorts.
With a rental car we were able to do a luau, road to Hana, watch the sunset at the top of a volcano, go whale watching (another big highlight) and have a day to shop and get out and about. These are all within an easy drive from the house.
The owner Mark was very easy to work with, very fair and always made sure we had everything we needed. He even sent a Christmas card to the house which was such a nice surprise.
If you're looking for that house to spend quality time together and avoid the hustle and crowds of the resorts or condos this really can't be beat. We will be back!
My wife and I spent last week at this AMAZING house in MAUI. We traveled with another couple and this house provided space and privacy for 4 adults. The house is located at the end of a dead end road which is very quiet, private, and safe. Very close to beaches, shopping, dive shops, and the many great attractions Maui is known for. It was very clean on our arrival and very nicely decorated. The owner was very friendly and responsive. I would highly this setting to anyone looking for peace, quiet and glorious sunsets.
We have rented waterfront condos primarily when visiting Maui. There is something special about being on the beach. This year, however, we sought to escape the invasive aspects of condo rentals and experience more privacy and quiet. We spent a week at this property and couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable experience. There is ample room, beautiful views, and a private pool with a spa feature. The clincher for me, however, is the close proximity to my favorite beach on Maui, Keawakapu Beach. It is literally minutes driving time to public access parking near the beach. If you're desiring of a break from condo rental and wish for some privacy in a high end property I would highly recommend a stay at this house. My family has already decided we're coming back here next year. Thank you Mark and Paige for opening the doors of your beautiful house!
Sincerely, David Scales
Home is spacious and very well equipped with everything a person might need. The shining star, however, is the beautiful outdoor living space. We especially loved the ocean view from the upper deck and made it our ritual to watch the sunset from this spot almost everyday of our vacation. As first time visitors to the island we found the rental location convenient to great beaches, snorkeling and other tourist activities yet also provided our own private slice of paradise.
