We are a family of 5 who live in GA that fell in love w HHI!!!
Hyden and Amy Newman purchased this condo in 2013
This was the coziest, prettiest little place that was perfect for us as far as the size of the unit, the location of the resort, the privacy and quality of 'our beach' and we loved the added bonus of COCO's and the pool grill. HHR had everything we wanted in our beach home! Hope you enjoy as well.
We live locally in Bluffton and travel often to the Island. A friend of ours was hosting a Thanksgiving dinner on the Island and we rented the unit as it was conviently located to where the dinner was being hosted. The unit was very clean, plenty of towels and extra linens. The unit looks like it does in the pictures and I wasn't concerned about the view as we didn't plan on spending much time on the patio. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and won't hesitate to come back. My only suggestion would be to provide a box of Kleenex in each bathroom, and if that's my only comment, that's how nice the place is. Looking forward to staying again.
We had a great week long stay at this unit and it was great!! This was the second time we've stayed at the Hilton Head Resort - first time for this specific unit. The unit is beautifully decorated and recently updated. Here's the pros and cons:
- Beautifully decorated and modern!
- Just the right size to be comfortable for our family of six
- Incredibly clean!!
- King Size bed in the master!!! Yes!!
- Dedicated wifi for the unit... this was HUGE with the kids and their gadgets!!
- Beach toys were an added bonus!
- Love the unit and would stay there again in a heartbeat!
- So close to the stairs (we all needed the exercise anyhow!)
- Plenty of towels and linens
- Close proximity to the beach (It's no more than 15 minute walk)
- Centrally located on the island... pretty easy to get everywhere!
- Guard staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and willing to help.
- Maintenance staff incredibly friendly and helpful (they came in to check a leak from another unit)
- INCREDIBLE VALUE!
- Great support and responsiveness from the owners!
- View isn't all that great... but we weren't staring out the windows anyhow
- Elevator is at opposite side of building, but we only needed it when we arrived and departed, so no real problem.
We had a smaller budget for our summer vacation this year and stumbled upon this listing. Yes, the resort is dated and needs some work but this specific unit is beautiful and had everything we needed. Yes, the walk to the beach is about 15 minutes, but it's a beautiful walk and we easily got our steps in each day! Loved the location and really loved having Coco's right there at the end of the boardwalk- great drinks and food, and a bathroom. Wonderful place for a family vacation.
Our family (2 adults and 3 children) just completed a 5 night vacation stay at this property and we had a wonderful time! The condo was clean and well decorated with LOTS of extras not expected. There was a beach umbrella, sand toys, a wagon, and beach chairs all available for use! The amenities offered at the condo were wonderful for families with children of all ages (Our kiddos are 13, 12, and 2) - tennis courts, badminton courts, outdoor pools, indoor pool/hot tub, deli, poolside bar, grill area. The walk to the beach was only about 10-15 minutes and that was with our toddler walking as well. Coco's was also a nice addition to get drinks/food while spending the day at the beach. The mango colada is a must tryl! The overall resort property is older, but it is very well maintained and was well worth the money we paid to stay here! Enjoyed the many attractions close to the condo as well! Amy and Hyden were also very easy to reach if needed and responded promptly. The only downside was that the condo does not have good views of the beach or marsh, but overall we got everything we expected and more! Thank you for allowing us to use your property! We are already planning for next year!
I'm truly surprised this property has positive reviews. We found it very inconvenient for dozens of reasons. I think it would be ok if you're able-bodied and energetic and have no kids and are willing to constantly walk long distances and up stairs all the time. But, we had small children and an older adult with us and found it extremely hard to get around. Also, the property itself isn't nice. It's feels cheap.
Here are the major drawbacks:
- There complex is sprawling - it's a long walk to get to anything to begin with, but this particular condo is especially far from everthing, as it's on the farthest side away from the pools, grills, walk to the beach, etc.
- There is only one elevator that serves each building and it was on the complete opposite end of the building for this condo unit.
- There isn't enough parking for that building and there was never a spot near our unit.
-The condo didn't have a blender or an iron. We had to buy a blender and wear wrinkled clothes the whole week. The toaster was completely deffective.
-The indoor pool area has a really weird, 1970s YMCA kind of vibe. It was creepy, we didn't feel comfortable in there.
-The main outdoor pool is in the middle of the complex, completely surrounded by the units, which aren't very nice to look at, with very little greenery. I could've been at the pool in my hometown. It just didn't feel much like being at the beach.
-The pictures that accompanied the website led me to believe the unit has a view of the marsh. Really, it has a view of a gravel drive and a palm tree and is super small and cramped. It's not that pleasant to sit out there.
- The shuttle for the beach comes every other hour, not frequent enought to be reliably convenient. The walk is pretty, but very long, it's about a 20-30 minute walk from the unit.
-The internet doesn't come through well anywhere on the property.
-The staff guarding the entrance to the complex were on several occassions rude and unhelpful.
The only positives I can say is that the unit is decorated nicely. There is al fresco bar at the end of the board walk called Coco's which is lovely.
Otherwise, I'd say, do yourself a favor and get a condo with more comforts and convenience. We adored Hilton Head and will come back. We've already booked the Marriott for the same week next year. I wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone.
This second floor unit (actually on the 3rd floor as 1st is called ground floor used for some parking and bicycle racks) is located in building 2 south west corner with balcony facing south. You can get a glimpse of the ocean through the palm trees but too far away to hear the ocean water. The unit was renovated nicely with a beach theme and met all of our needs for a comfortable week stay . The Hilton Head Resort on the other hand was built in the early 80's is quite dated and really shows its age. The positives to this resort are the boardwalk to the not too crowded beach and good size outdoor poor in building 1. We rented bikes from The Bike Doctor for $28 per bike for the week with free delivery / pickup. Bike trails here were wonderful and a must! We also visited historic Savannah which is an hour drive and Hunting Island about 90 minutes away. Overall a good value and wonderful stay on our first trip to HHI.
