Beautiful home, great hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Our close knit friends and family thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful views from the cabin, cooking and knitting by the fire. Located next to Alpine Meadows, the cabin was perfect for the half of us that like to storm ride and the others who like to relax, sip wine, and catch up. Our toddlers loved the open living space and connected kitchen and had a great time playing games in the house as well as those we brought with us. The pool table and hot tub were nice touches to break up the activities. Upon arrival we were greeted by our host who ensured we knew how to operate the heated floors, thermostat, boot warmers, garage door openers, grill, etc. Again, a well appointed cabin meticulously cared for with plenty of space for everyone. Highly recommend the management as well who responded immediately with a small plumbing issue. She took great care of us and we will definitely return for our annual executive MBA/family snow retreat.

Comfortable home, plenty of space!

  • 4 of 5

We vacationed at this property with a wide age range of family and friends, including a toddler, teenagers, young couples, and grandmas. There was plenty of space for everyone! Although not depicted in the photos or description, this property had enough room for dining together... a large dinning table for 8, a breakfast nook for 4, and seats at the kitchen counter. Almost any item we could need was available in the kitchen except for chef's knives. There were also many towels on hand for showering and hut tub use. The backyard was small but very enjoyable, particularly the hot tub. Although there are trails behind the property, it takes some climbing through brush and fallen trees for a few yards before you can see or reach them. The property is extremely close to rafting on the Truckee River (though no rafting while we were in town due to drought.) Horseback riding also very close by.

Some caveats: internet and cell phone reception are VERY poor and unreliable. Also, families with toddlers beware: standard tension baby gates do not seem to snugly fit the stairway entrance.

Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time staying at Snowcrest Lodge. The area is spectacular and the community park was just another wonderful feature. The family all had something to do, volleyball, tennis, hiking, horseback riding and then relaxing in the hot tub in the evening.

The pool table was enjoyed by all and that was a fun way to wind down for the evening.

The house was very beautiful and comfortable for 10 people. This is the first time in years that we all were able to sit down and have dinner together.

We had a great time!

Thanks

Amazing Alpine Meadows Property

  • 5 of 5

Our group has stayed at this property for many weekends.

It is a wonderful house, and extremely accommodating.

Alpine Meadows is a beautiful neighborhood, in the summer and winter. Snow Crest is a smaller street with very little traffic, making it a very quiet locale while being right in the heart of the action.

You are well poised to take advantage of opportunities at Squaw/Alpine, or in Tahoe City and on the Lake itself, everything is within a 15 minute drive of the house.

The back of the house extends into the woods, with hiking or snowshoeing trails very accessible, only a stand of trees is visible out the back, which you look at from the kitchen window.

You can ski back to the house during the winter, or sit in the adirondack chairs and get some sunshine while listening only to the wind whipping through the trees.

There is also a hot tub for all-year round soaking, a crucial element for the post-ski relaxation.

The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need to cook for a group.

And it is a part of the same large open space that is shared with the living room and dining table.

The single large space makes for a very communal feeling where those cooking can still be involved in the living room conversation.

The propane grill on the front deck is a nice addition to a meal with a table and chairs and views of the mountains that form the back side of Squaw Valley. The house is topped off by the fine woodwork of the floors, ceilings and beams.

The 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms allow you to fit a nice sized group.

The wood-burning hearth in the living room adds to the atmosphere and keeps the house warm when it's blowing or snowing outside.

Downstairs is an entertainment area with TV and lounge seating, a wet bar and a pool table to boot. The heated floors will keep you cozy on the cool nights, and the wall to wall windows let in fresh air in the warmer months.

The house is kept in pristine shape by the owners, it is both welcoming and cozy and feels like your own home if only for a weekend.

Was perfect for us

  • 5 of 5

Family thanksgiving, meant lots of cooking and opportunities to enjoying each other's company. The house was very welcoming and worked well for large group meals and also for splitting off into smaller groups for games and conversation. The kids loved the pool table and the hot tub. We were lucky because the Fall weather was just right for long walks and hikes.

Perfect vacation house and ski location

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful ski resort and beautiful, well appointed, comfortable house. This house really is as nice as the pictures and we can't wait to go back. We met friends here for spring skiing, so we had a total of 4 adults and 5 kids. There was plenty of space for everyone to eat at the table, hang out in front of the fire or watch a movie together, but also space to spread out when we wanted. The big kids shared the loft bunk room and adjoining sitting room, with the little ones and 2 couples were comfortable in separate rooms. No sharing with my three year old! The kids could hang out in the basement TV/playroom or hot tub, while the adults could sit quietly and were actually able to talk by the upstairs fireplace. Our friend is a gourmet and loved the kitchen and the fact that the house is all open so he could be part of the group. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms are nice, the view is great, the neighborhood is pretty and the two car garage was nice to unload and prepare for the next day.

When we arrived, the property manager stopped by to bring us information on activities for the week and point out things like the boot warmer (yeah), the various zones for heat so that all three levels of the house were perfectly comfortable, tell us about the area and answer any questions we had.

I am not a big skier, while everyone else in the group is. Both Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are very close and we were able to easily get to both even though they had the biggest blizzard of the year while we were there. The setup of both resorts made it easy for me to drop the little ones at ski school and either join a group or ski greens/easier blues while the others could go jump off cliffs. There are also a decent amount of runs where I could pick an easier way while they were more challenged, but it was easy to meet back up. The kids program was excellent. My kids learned, they had fun, the instructors were knowledgeable and nice and the school was pretty flexible with changes. I was also happy with the group and private lesson I took.

We also did tubing, ate out, toured the Olympic Museum and did things in the resort village, all of which were nice. The best part was going back to this fabulous house to relax! I was hesitant about spring skiing and also about CA (we used to go to Utah) but this was by far the nicest vacation house we have ever rented and to me the best ski resort we have been to.
