WE, Rick and Penny Sellers, live on this same road. We love the outdoors and all nature has to offer. Rick is a builder and commercial property owner, Penny a hairdresser and outdoor enthusiast.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
This location is a walk through the woods to our home. It was built in the 1970's and was a part time summer home for the previous owners. When they became too elderly to attend to it we were able to purchase it so that it would adjoin our property, the cottage sits just feet away from the creek, you can no longer build a structure this close to the water anymore.
The privacy makes this location perfect for a romantic getaway or honeymoon. A great way for a small family to reconnect to each other and nature. The quiet and serenity that it offers naturally is unsurpassed.
Sitting on the balcony next to the streams running water with your significant other is heavenly.
Just could not get enough of the lovely surroundings! We will most definitely book this well kept secret again.
This cabin was exactly what we needed for our vacation. We had 4 adults (2 couples) sharing the cabin and it had all the amenities we like. The kitchen was stocked well for cooking meals, the living area was comfortable and well furnished for playing games, reading or watching movies. But the best thing was the creek right outside just a few feet from the back of the cabin. Sitting on the back porch or laying on the hammock listening to the creek was fantastic! The cabin is perfectly located for short trips to hiking trails, charming small towns, waterfalls, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will definitely be back again!!
This heavenly retreat is a MUST for a couple, family, or small group gathering! Immediately you are struck by the incredibly beautiful setting, as the house is nestled among majestic trees, RIGHT on the creek! The sound is so captivating that you instantly relax, sit back, or maybe grab your fishing pole and head up the creek in search of the perfect catch of various lovely trout. We went in March, and slept with the windows open to hear the sound of the night creek, and rested in the hammock, napped on the bed swing, and rocked on either porch (very large upper and lower) during the quiet, cool afternoons. The fire pit at the creekside after sunset making s'mores was a perfect end to a day of nearby hiking and sightseeing.
The quaint cabin could not be more adorable. It had every amenity necessary, was incredibly clean, cozy, and comfortable. There is a lower basement room complete with a washer and dryer and plenty of tools or anything you might need for your stay.
Speaking of stay, this place is meant for that....
Yes, there are MANY things to do and see nearby, but be sure to factor in 'staying' and enjoying the peaceful setting long enough to truly rejuvenate... because that will happen in this serene setting.
There are many good, local restaurants nearby, and be sure to visit the local dairy for fresh eggs, butter and cheese, along with the various fruit and fresh vegetable stands.
The drives to take in the Appalachian Trail, many waterfalls, hiking areas and shopping/sightseeing are added benefits of this location.... secluded enough to enjoy nature's surrroundings, but within short drives to most anything.
The owners of this property have a gem of a retreat that you MUST experience soon, and 'up the road' neighbors Rick and Penny are incredibly helpful and friendly as well!
We came back for more! This cozy spot tucked away on a private rushing creek with two porches with swings, hammocks and fire pit is one of the most restful places I've ever stayed. I caught brook trout in the creek and trophy rainbow trout a short drive away. There are tons of options for fly fishing nearby. We hiked the trails that start a few minutes drive up the mountain--Picken's Nose, the fire tower and a piece of the Appalachian Trail. The pictures accurately tell the story of the house. We stayed in the summer and in the fall, I'm not sure which I liked best. Both were great. The owners were considerate and easy to work with. We'll be back.
We loved the location, the house and most of all the brook in the back. This is the place to step back in time. You do have Direct TV, a DVD player and a phone but that was it. We brought some favorite movies, all our food for the week and other than hiking some water falls and zip lining (20 minutes from the house!) we just relaxed. It was wonderful. The owners are wonderful hosts and really if you need anything they are there to help. Do ask them how to get to the top of the mountain behind the lab - a fun ride. The house is clean and lovely - very simple. It has everything you need to have a good easy week.
OMGosh… this place was amazing! If you’re looking for a beautiful place to retreat – this is it! It’s very secluded, clean, cozy and fun! My only regret is that we weren’t able to just stay in the cabin. It was our first trip so we spent every day sight-seeing – which was GORGEOUS! There are so many neat towns, quaint restaurants, stores, hiking trails, and waterfalls to visit but next time I go, I’m going to stop by the little dairy and buy some fresh milk, butter, bacon and cheese. Then I’ll stop by one of the many fruit and vegetable stands and buy some organic fruits, veggies, homemade jam and a big bottle of wine and retreat to the cabin for the entire stay. I’ll rock on the porch swing, fish in the creek, sit around the outside fire pit, nap in the hammock and listen to the roaring waterfall that can be heard as soon as you open your car door. I LOVE this place!
