About The Owner

WE, Rick and Penny Sellers, live on this same road. We love the outdoors and all nature has to offer. Rick is a builder and commercial property owner, Penny a hairdresser and outdoor enthusiast.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010

Why The Owner chose Otto

This location is a walk through the woods to our home. It was built in the 1970's and was a part time summer home for the previous owners. When they became too elderly to attend to it we were able to purchase it so that it would adjoin our property, the cottage sits just feet away from the creek, you can no longer build a structure this close to the water anymore.

What makes this cottage unique

The privacy makes this location perfect for a romantic getaway or honeymoon. A great way for a small family to reconnect to each other and nature. The quiet and serenity that it offers naturally is unsurpassed.

Many restaurants and entertainments venues in town. Quite possibly the prettiest setting in Macon County, NC.

A Fantastic First Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Let me just start by saying we couldn't have imagined a better fit for our family vacation than this place. It was a perfect fit for our family, we loved the area and all the rustic charm of being there, exploring, etc. The cabin itself was very nice, clear, well-stocked with towels, blankets, dishes, pans, etc. In short, everything you need was available. Plenty of great relaxation spots on the porch above and below and we loved going to sleep with the sound of the stream/river right outside our door.

Penny and Rick were just a blessing to us as well. We had some "self-inflicted" issues upon our arrival (mainly due to an inexperienced mountain driver) and they joyfully helped us get settled late at night and then took care of getting us unstuck the next morning. Their encouragement meant so much to us and as I said, they were a genuine blessing to meet and get to know. They accommodated us without intruding and definitely made us begin to plan when we might come back.

As for the area, plenty of simple yet fun things to do and if you are a sight-seeing person, there are many beautiful sights to take in while you are there. Plenty of fun hikes right around the cabin for our family with a ten-year-old and five-year-old but many other trails in the area with easy access and great views. We hiked the Pickens Nose Trail and it was a perfect excursion for us.

As I said, I cannot recommend this vacation location more wholeheartedly. I only ask that you avoid scheduling it for the weeks we plan to come back. We look forward to being there again soon.
