Prime Location!

  • 5 of 5

The house was just what I had hoped for, a quiet location with great views and a buoy. The house was very clean and every thing worked. It has been a well loved vacation home. We were here a week and enjoyed the view and location every moment. We used the toys, the sup board, the dingy, b.b.q. and the wood burning fireplace. We went to the Swiss Lakewood and the Bridge Tender restaurants, both were very good. The hardest thing we had to do was row to and from the buoy to use our boat. Our dogs enjoyed this vacation with us also. We hope to be back!

Very nice classic Tahoe home

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed staying at Bill's property. The accommodations were very cozy and great for entertaining our entire family or just sitting on the deck enjoying the view of the lake. We all really enjoyed being able to use Bill's kayaks and paddle boards-thank you Bill. Would recommend Bill's home to friends and family.

Fun Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely home with outstanding views of Lake Tahoe from the western side. We never made it up for sunrise, but the colors at sunset were gorgeous. There are two full bathrooms, two king bedrooms, a queen bedroom, a very very small kid bedroom with a bunk and a twin, and a den that has a twin daybed with a trundle. All of the bedrooms/den except the kids room have views. The downstairs king and the den have doors onto the patio. There is no air-conditioning but it cools down at night. The kings are firm but the queen is less so. Also, the kids room light has to have the light bulbed physically turned to turn it off and on. I'm 5'7'' and I couldn't reach it without a stool. Little kids would have an issue. Small detail, easily managed for us, but probably needs to be fixed.

The property is beautiful and well maintained. There is everything you could need in the kitchen. We cooked every night for 7 people and didn't lack for anything. The dining table was very large and we could have seated more comfortably. The home is not fancy and renovated. It is homey and comfortable, so if you are looking for fancy, this is not the place for you. It really does feel like you are staying in someone's treasured vacation house-which was nice. However, the wow factor is in the views. Every room (except as noted) have magnificent views of the lake. My mother and mother in-law spent the entire vacation out on the beautiful deck under the umbrella watching the lake change colors. There are many chairs and cushions, and a weber grill that my husband used and drooled over.

The outdoor amenities included two sit on top kayaks, which we used every day. They were part of the reason we rented this property in the first place and made the vacation special. There is nothing like being able to paddle around in the lake whenever you choose. Bring water shoes to kayak as you have to take them pretty far out for depth enough to paddle and it's very rocky. There is also a dinghy and I understand there is a buoy for boats. There are four bikes for use, but they are in varying states of usability. I suggest bringing your own if that is important to you.

The homeowner has provided lots of extras. There are dog toys and leashes and helmets for the bikes. There are shared spices and various foodstuffs from previous guests. It's a lovely home with everything you need for a fabulous stay in a really convenient and quiet spot.

Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great stay from start to finish! Great location; central to Squaw, Northstar...and great coffee. Bob was available to answer our many questions and finally a home with a fully stocked kitchen! No suggested improvements at all. We'll be back.

Beautiful House in an Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from an excellent stay at this beautiful home. We have three children in their twenties and everyone had a great time. We went kayaking, biking (two kayaks and two bicycles are available at the house for use), and did plenty of hiking (the hike to Eagle Lake, near Emerald Bay was fabulous and it's only 2 miles long round trip). We took a very relaxing lunch cruise on the Tahoe Gal, which leaves right out of nearby Tahoe City. Our kids went jet skiing off of Kings Beach about 20 minutes away. (There is closer jet skiing available, but this place, Tahoe Aquatic Center, had cheaper rates - $90 for 1 hour if you arrive before 11:00am.) They had a blast while my husband and I relaxed on Kings Beach. We enjoyed a festival at nearby Squaw Valley and also in Squaw Valley, we all hiked to the two sets of waterfalls on the Shirley Lake Trail (about 0.3 miles and 0.8 miles into the trail) and then our more fit and adventurous kids continued along the trail to Shirley Lake and then to the top of Squaw (a challenging trail in part because it is not well marked, but they figured it out and had a great time.) My husband and I turned back and headed back down and took the tram to the top a bit later where we met our kids and we all took the very scenic tram ride back down. (The tram ride down is free for those who get to the top on their own power!)

The location of this house can't be beat. The view from almost every room is phenomenal (the "kids" room with the two twin beds is the only exception). The expansive deck with many Adirondack chairs is perfect for relaxing. The house is right near Tahoe City which has many shops and restaurants. Nearby Front Street Station Pizza was great for take out pizza AND quesadillas. Tahoe City has a more laid back feel than the more developed South Lake Tahoe, but it still has plenty to offer. Also, many waterfront homes on Lake Tahoe are directly on the main road that goes around Lake Tahoe. This house is well off that road in a quiet little community, so it has a more relaxed feel to it and it is very quiet. We were also able to walk to a nearby bakery (Tahoe House) and to church. The bike path is also right nearby.

Each day it was great to come back to this house with the magnificent views, and it was very conducive to spending time together as a family - the living area has plenty of comfortable chairs and the dining table is very big. The kitchen has all you need.

We hope to come back soon!
