About Burntshirt Vineyards Team
Our family has been a part of the history of Western North Carolina. Grandfather Oates built a waterwheel in the 30's and provided electricity to the surrounding neighbors in a remote area near Chimney Rock. This concern for community has been handed down from generation to generation with pride.
Burntshirt Vineyards Team purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Burntshirt Vineyards Team chose Hendersonville
We owned the land across the street and ventured into growing grapes for wine. The harvest was so excellent, we decided to make the wine ourselves rather than sell the grapes. So voila, we were in the wine making business and in need of a tasting room. We had the opportunity to purchase the apple orchard across the street from the vineyard. The property had nice craftsman style house which we turned into the tasting room and the lovely stone cottage. My wife, Sandra, couldn't wait to renovate and decorate the charming cottage; she kept the retro vintage feel she so dearly loved. She's quite talented as you can see from the pictures. She was intent on respecting the heritage of the family we purchased the property from and kept many items of significance to them and the history of the farm.
What makes this Cottage unique
There is so much to love about staying at Vintner's Cottage, the retro style kitchen is fully equipped and the home is filled with antiques creating a relaxed comfortable atmosphere in the home. It's like being at a lovely bed and breakfast but with privacy! During the day you can take the winery tour, everyone meets at the tasting room at 2, and enjoys an informative tour. If you wish to have a nice picnic lunch, you can place your order the day before and your lunch will be delivered to the tasting room from A Day In The Country's Café on the Veranda around noon. The chicken salad is amazing! And of course you can enjoy a relaxing wine tasting at the tasting room and we even have a little gift shop on the grounds. We invite people to freely stroll about the gardens and enjoy the beauty and discover all the special areas on their own. Hendersonville has lots of really nice restaurants, like Mezzaluna and West First Pizza. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and top notch dishes for dinner. And on Saturday's enjoy the afternoon listening to an entertaining local musician either on the patio or at The Summit event center during inclement weather. Oh and don't forget, on Fridays we serve delightful appetizers with the wine tasting!

Burntshirt Vinyard is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed staying in the cottage and walking to the Tasting Room - the wine was fabulous!
The cottage was very clean, with the exception of a few ants. My only negative comment would be that the furniture needs to be updated to something more comfortable...sofa is antiquated. Mattresses were hard - and you should use a fitted sheet on the mattress. The flat sheet easily pulls off, and you end up sleeping on the plastic mattress cover.
Love the cottage!
We had a great time here. The cottage is so cute and the property is beautiful. The beds, however, were very uncomfortable. The mattresses were very hard. There needs to be directions to work the 1950’s stove and oven, but I figured it out eventually! The staff at the winery were very friendly and helpful. Overall I loved staying here and would do it again even though the beds really were terrible! Lol
Great spot to spend the weekend and enjoy some wine
This was our 4th of 5th time staying at Burntshirt. Only steps away from the tasting room. We met some new friends and found two nights of great food in downtown Hendersonville. There are two other wineries close by, so you can spend a afternoon trying out the local wines.
This clean and cosy cottage was a perfect rendezvous location on the winery property.
The wine is excellent and the tasting room and patios are just a few yards away. The winery tour at 2:00 every afternoon is also very interesting.
Very cozy and welcoming cottage
The property was beautiful. Couldn’t have asked for a better location. The house was nice and as expected it was older and plenty of work was put into it. Very cozy.
