About Colleen Snyder

We relocated to the mountains of western North Carolina in 2004 and bought the cabin and 6+ acres in 2006. It had been a long-time summer getaway for a family and was sorely in need of a makeover! We were able to refinish and keep the original wood floors but the entire home was gutted and remodeled. The layout was completely redesigned to allow for a comfortable, open floor plan and windows were added for more natural light. When the 15+ acres behind the property became available, we purchased it and opened up some old hiking trails that were overgrown.

Colleen Snyder purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Colleen Snyder chose Smoky Mountains

We have been visiting western North Carolina for years to hike and mountain bike. Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest are two of our favorite destinations. We feel fortunate to live in this area now and love sharing it with others.

What makes this cabin unique

Serenade Cove offers a hard-to-find combination of privacy and convenience. It is truly a cabin in the woods, and you feel like you are miles away from civilization, but you can grab some groceries or a pizza 5 minutes away in the small town of Etowah. You are also only 15-20 minutes from Hendersonville or Brevard, and 20 minutes from Sierra Nevada's new east coast brewery, which we call the Disneyland of beers!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful weekend at your cabin! Beautiful views, warm and homey. Location was convenient to the surrounding parks and town of Brevard. We love it here! Thanks again.

Wonderful mountain cabin

  • 4 of 5

We were as pleased on our second stay as our first. Clean, modern, comfortable, quiet, all appliances and HVAC in top condition. Great mountain view from the front deck. Location is just 20 minutes from Brevard. We plan to vacation there again.

Amazing veiw and location!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely holiday weekend with our daughters and son-in-laws at this beautiful house! Location is fantastic for hikers and bikers. Sunsets were fantastic and Colleen has everything you could possibly need at the house! She was fantastic with giving us all the information we needed to find and enter the house. We had six adults with us and it was the perfect amount of space.

It was perfect!

I have never been to a mountain cabin before and this was soooo much more than I ever expected.

  • 5 of 5

This much needed 3 day vacation was perfect. The cabin couldn't have been more relaxing with everything we needed. The view, location, and atmosphere was fabulous. We were minutes away from hiking and riding trails. The owner left very clear directions to stores, restaurants, etc... This was a wonderful vacation with much rest and no time wasted when we did decide to venture out and find some trails, restaurants etc... Would very much love to return to Serenade Cove.

Perfect setting for the Solar Eclipse

  • 5 of 5

There were two of us in our group with a small dog who traveled to see the solar eclipse. We could not be more delighted that Serenade Cove was in the path of totality. We just went in the backyard to witness this cosmic event. The home is very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and in one of the bedrooms there was a window space that we could place my dog's carrier for him to sleep. This house is in an ideal location, close to Brevard and Hendersonville. We had breakfast at Mike's on Main in Hendersonville - dog friendly-and the food was good and the coffee very good. This house is also close to the many waterfalls in the Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest. When we came home each night, a toad greeted us on the deck which was unexpected but nice. The mountain views from the deck were just lovely. The house is furnished with antique furniture which were an added bonus to this rustic cabin. We had a question for the homeowner and she responded in a timely manner. We had a great time and thank you, Colleen, for letting us stay at your house. If ever we are back in North Carolina, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great, peaceful location! Close to DuPont and Brevard.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this quiet, private cabin located near DuPont Forest and Pisgah Forest where we spent our time mountain biking, hiking and searching for waterfalls. It is stocked with everything you need to be comfortable. The covered deck is a perfect place to enjoy the mountain view and grill up your dinner and then take an evening hike at the trails located just behind the cabin that are all yours to enjoy. Highly recommended!!!

Wonderful balance between secluded and nearby DuPont, Pisgah and Asheville

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was clean and smart with everything we could need. The view from the front porch in the evenings and the mornings was delightful. The kids loved the loft area and having their own bathroom. We also enjoyed the short trails that lead out of the back of the cabin!

My only tiny complaint is that the master bed was a little "creaky" for light sleepers
