This is 'Maui Wowie', but in Kauai !

* The house was great and we had a fantastic time in Kauai. It is hard to get back into the daily grind again. I will contact you when we return to Kauai.

* We had a wonderful time at Shaka Hale. We absolutely loved the house, it is truly a gem - fantastically appointed and very beautiful. Mahalo for introducing us to this beautiful place.

* Our stay in Kauai was great. Much because of this impressive house and friendly locals. It is not often that a house is even better than in the pictures! As you know I am a real estate professional, and this kind of rental property is rare. The community of Kekaha was really friendly. We often recived mangos on our door step, and we were invited to the 4th of July fireworks with the neighbors.

* It was wonderful beyond words! I wish I was still there. I can't recall the last time I felt that relaxed. The house had every amenity one would ever need and was very beautiful and comfortable. Would it be redundant to say we found 'perfection in paradise'? I will check your web site 'cause I'm coming back!

* Oh....Gosh....I really swear that we could write a book to you about this property! We had an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G time! The house was absolutely perfect and the fact that it was directly across from the beach was even more perfect! We spent every evening grilling and chilling at the kitchen table. Either telling stories or talking about what we had experienced that day. This was a TRUE vacation for all of us. There were NO complaints from my family. We all were very sad to leave Kauai. We had 10 days of total sunshine on Kekaha, regardless of what was happening on the other sides of the island. THAT to me was amazing! We would literally drive 5 miles away from the house into clouds, rain and wind. Head back to Kekaha and had total sunshine and 84 degrees! I hate to think of what will happen to that pristine side once others figure out how beautifully consistent the weather is. This will forever be a vacation I won't forget! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

* We've returned from Kauai and are finding it hard to adjust to the Norther California climate. We had two wonderful weeks in Kekaha, and Shaka Hale had a lot to do with it. It was perfect for our family. It's a great house, and we all loved staying there. Thanks for all your advice and assistance. Aloha!

Shake Hale in Kekaha, Kauai is an amazing vacation home

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing view we had from our Kauai home! Our house had plenty of room for our family. The location couldn’t be better as we were out of the rat race and tourist areas. You could walk across the street and enjoy the beach. It was at the base of the Waimea Canyon which is an amazing trip and very close to other beaches we enjoyed such as Poipu and Salt Pond Beach. Our favorite thing was being able to cook our own meals in a well stocked kitchen and to eat and play games on the porch while overlooking the beautiful sunsets. So recommend this home !

Great family vacation home in South Kauai

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a family vacation home on Kauai, and Shaka Hale fit our needs perfectly. The four bedroom layout was just right. Grandma and grandpa enjoyed the ocean side master suite for grandma's 70th birthday. Our daughter and son-in-law enjoyed the second upstairs queen bedroom, and our grandson used the adjacent twin bedroom. Our son, who also joined for the celebration, had his own queen bedroom on the ground floor. Everyone had privacy and separate bathrooms!

The furnishings, while some showed a little age, the stocked pantry and home accessories, and especially the spacial arrangement of the house, not to mention the out-of-the-way location and the fantastic views were fantastic. So many large areas to gather without crowding, or to separate and enjoy the space. It worked very well for our intended use. Slight highway noise in the front master suite at night, but white noise from the fan tended to minimize the impact. The front porch off the master was well used with its view of the ocean across the street, occasional swimmers, watching Hawaiian children surf the waves on Boogie boards, the view of Ni'ihau, and the fantastic sunsets.

Especially recommended for those who want to spend all, or most, of their time on the South side of the island. We enjoy Polihale State Park, Waimea Canyon and the Allerton Garden near Poipu. Salt Pond Park also is nearby and has reef sheltered swimming for those (smaller?) folks not wanting a direct hit from the ocean waves.

The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and the pantry had plenty of items so we found we only really needed to focus on primary supplies. If you like Poke, nearby Ishihara Market in Waimea should be a must shopping stop.

Perfect location, well appointed home

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay in Kekaha. The location and size of this home was perfect for our family. We have 3 kids and one baby and we were able to spread out and unpack in each room. We prefer a more secluded vacation and this home definitely delivers! There are three living spaces if you include the enclosed porch plus two very private lanais with full views of the ocean. It was nice to send the kids out to the enclosed porch to watch TV while the baby napped and we relaxed. Because we have a baby, we typically would go somewhere or even across the street to the beach in the mornings and then come back, nap and head back out in the afternoon. The kitchen has a pantry with the basic spices and oils so we didn’t have to fully stock up for the week we were there. We appreciated the beach chairs and gear onsite. Its nice to not have to buy those only to leave them as well. The sunsets seen from the house are incredible. This was our 3rd trip to Kauai and we were so busy relaxing and enjoying the West side, we didn’t even make it up to Hanalei or Kapaa. We enjoyed a day in Poipu, Salt Pond Beach, and we fell in love with Polihale - the beach on the West side of the Napali cliffs accessed by dirt road. We also booked a private star gazing with some local Astronomers. If interested, look up KEASA and Rocket Roz. Kekaha has less city light and clear skies - perfect for star gazing. A catamaran tour from Port Allen is easy from this location and gives a full view of the Napali coast and the Kalalau Valley. We never seemed to catch the local restaurants in Waimea while they were open as they close early. Plan on stocking up on snacks or food that you can prepare on your own. The house is great if you are looking to skip the crowds and the touristy parts of Kauai. Now we’re looking at renting the neighboring homes and coming back with a larger group!

Destination Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited Kauai for our 10 year anniversary. Shaka Hale, as with our other destinations on the island, exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect! Nice quiet neighborhood far from highly travelled tourist areas. Wimea Canyon is a short drive away and was our favorite day trip of our vacation. The house has absolutely everything you need to make yourself at home and more. Pictures do not do this place justice. Highly recommend for families and or couples.

Great home, great views, great sunsets and great location

  • 5 of 5

This home was decorated so uniquely with awesome lanai both upstairs and down. We simply love this part of Kauai and the quaint little town of Waimea just down the road. We had family in rented home next door which worked out well with them being side by side to accommodate us all. Both homes were equipped with everything we would have needed while there. All were very pleased!

Great Family Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our get away to Shaka Hale. The home is beautiful and was spacious for our family of 7. The Lanai's were wonderful to catch a morning breeze and listen to the surf - of course with a cup of Hawaiian coffee. We enjoyed this laid back side of the island - with lots of sun and great sunsets. The kitchen had every piece of equipment we could have needed. We also appreciated the variety of beach supplies (chairs, mats, toys for our toddler) that were available in the garage. There are several beautiful beaches in close proximity - including a short walk across the street! We kept the house open during the day when we were around. We closed it up at night and utilized the air conditioning. This kept things quiet and cool for sleeping. There is road noise that affected our sleep the first night when we tried to keep the house open. The traffic didn't bother us at all during the day. Chad was very accommodating and timely in responses to any questions we had - including providing a "pack and play" for our 18 month old. I would recommend Shaka Hale to any group traveling to Kauai! You will love it!
