Enjoy the wildlife and sights and sounds of the headwaters of the Colorado River from this beautiful vacation home. Our decks are at water's edge and provide a mountain view as well as a close up of moose, elk, deer, and other animals in the woods across the river. Our home provides rustic luxury with many extras. The two story great room has large windows facing the river and the woods, a wood burning fireplace, vaulted ceiling and sliding glass doors providing access to three levels of decks. The gourmet kitchen has stainless steel appliances new in 2007 as well as an extensive collection of small appliances, dinnerware, cooking equipment, utensils, cooking ingredients, spices and all of the handy gadgets. We attempt to provide everything you might wish for to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable throughout our home, including an extensive library of fiction, non-fiction, guide books and maps as well as CDs, DVDs, VCRs and games. Our beds have down comforters. Heated mattress covers and electric blankets are either on the beds or in the closets. We have some fishing equipment to try the pools in the river off of the deck and there is a 15 foot right of way all along the river behind the house if you wish to check out other spots. The living accommodations include two bedrooms on the main level (one with queen bed, one with two twin beds) along with a full jetted bath tub with shower. The entry level has a bedroom with a double bed and a large family room with a sofa bed, a 3/4 bath and a laundry area. The bedroom and family room have patio sliding doors that open onto the lower deck and hot tub with built in benches and bar area. We provide large towels and robes to use at the hot tub. The third floor loft is furnished with a large comfortable chair for getting away, reading or watching wildlife and a small business center with high speed internet, WiFi and printer with fax, scan and copy. The interior space is about 3000 square feet and there are about 2500 square feet of decks furnished with tables, chairs, gas grill and hot tub. Other outdoor amenities include a fire pit and an enclosed garden area. The village of Grand Lake offers many year round activities. It is located about 3 miles north. The restaurants and shopping are superb. The western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is about a mile north of Grand Lake. Winter activity opportunities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow skating, snowmobiling and ice fishing. There are cross-country and snowshoe trails nearby. Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Fraser (25 minutes) has world class nordic facilities with more than miles of groomed trails. They also have excellent spa services and children’s programs. Snow Mountain Ranch, a YMCA facility, has trails and children’s programs. For downhill skiing, you can be at Winter Park Ski area in about 35 minutes and at Sol Vista Family ski area is less than 15 minutes. There is a heated indoor pool in Grand Lake and for a special treat you can be at Hot Sulpher Springs relaxing in their large heated pool and many hot springs or indulging in their full spa services in about a half hour. Summer options include golf (4 courses nearby), fishing (river and lake), boating (3 lakes nearby), water skiing, jet skiing, hiking (hundreds of miles of trails), biking, 3 and 4 wheeling, horseback riding and enjoying the expanse of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapahoe National Forest. We have guide books with trail maps and descriptions along with assessments of difficulty for many of the trails. There are several businesses that rent equipment. We also offer a private third floor master suite with king-size bed, gas fireplace, deck, 3/4 bath and large walk in closet for an additional $100 per night for guests who wish additional luxury. |
