Location: Hanalei Bay Resort, Princeville, North Shore, Kauai, Hawaii, USA (Located in Princeville Resort, 25 miles north of airport) View Map

Accommodations:  Condo, 1 Bedroom + Attached Unit, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

Keywords:  Condo

This totally remodeled condo overlooks beautiful Bali Hai, the pearl of Kauai’s North Shore. Watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay as you enjoy a leisurely breakfast sitting on teakwood chairs on the slate covered lanai, then go visit the island sights, but be sure to get back in time for the sunsets!

This one bedroom condo is a one-of-a-kind within the complex! Accessible parking is just a few feet away from this first floor unit. The unit has been totally refurbished and nicely appointed with a modern Polynesian touch. The unobstructed view of Bali Hai is usually described by the guests as breathtaking. The beauty of the unit itself, the view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai and the accessibility and convenience of this unit make an unparalleled combination. And it’s all within the fabulous Garden of Eden of the north shore, the Hanalei Bay Resort.

Two guests are easily accommodated in the unit. Since you’re sleeping on the king-size custom-made Indonesian “Pineapple” bed, you can actually watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay for awhile before getting up. You might even want to stretch out on the rattan lounge chair in the bedroom while you re-read a little Michener, Theroux—or even Crichton, one of our (now late) “locals” before turning in, or check your email on the free internet.

After a day of sight-seeing you will enjoy the two-person, six-jet shower with a window facing Bali Hai (which includes a switch that, almost magically, makes the window become opaque for the shy!).

This bedroom unit includes a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, mini-fridge and two mini-fry pans for your convenience. And, of course, all the countertops are granite. Air conditioning is only needed once in a while but it’s there if you need it. A beautiful beach shared with the St Regis Hotel for great swimming and snorkeling is just a short walk away. And it’s all in close walking distance to all the fabulous HBR amenities like restaurant/bar/parking/tennis/pool.

NOTE: We also have another (adjoining) condo that sleeps two with a full kitchen and Jacuzzi hot tub. Check it out at VRBO 237539 and contact me for prices and more information on that unit (which might be available when this one is not). I also have extra photos and a neat floor plan map that will help you see how these condos are configured.

My husband and I decided to elope in Kauai since we wanted it to be romantic and intimate. From reviews and advice, we decided to stay on the North Shore (Princeville/Hanalei). Seeing pictures of the island online, North part was more lush and had a charm to it. With some help, Hanalei Bay Resort seem to be a great place and a better cost on our budget. We rented through an owner (Dale Unit #3106) and he answered any questions we had and provided detail rules and info on the unit. When we arrived at the resort, it was very nice and had a Hawaiian inviting feel to it. We checked in through the open lobby area and service was quick and very friendly. They had a concierge desk next to the front desk that helped you out with any trips you would want to go on or experience (Zip lining, Helicopter tours, Snorkeling boat trips etc) which made it convenient to book if you haven’t booked in advance. They had someone drive us down in their golf cart with our luggage to our unit and showed us where the certain facilities were located (pool, washer and dryer etc). The parking was near the unit which made it easy to get to the car. The downside, late afternoon the parking area would be packed with cars so you would have to park further away (park before anyone comes back from their mini trips!). We were on ground level which was better than going up and down stairs throughout the trip. The room was very cute and comfortable! It had a nice size bed with a mini fridge, microwave, dishes, silverware, iron with board, 6 jet shower with a window that you can see through into the room or not (hard to explain), and a lounge chair to relax on. I forgot to mention the best part about the unit (the view!). The view is gorgeous! We would sit out on the lanai every morning and enjoy part of Hanalei Bay with Bali Hai in front of us. I want to point out that you should book through an owner and not with the resort. You know what your getting beforehand and you might get stuck in a not so nice room. We truly enjoyed our stay and hopefully get to come back for our 1 year anniversary.

My girlfriend and I stayed in this unit for the last 4 days of our 8 day stay in Kauai. We spent the first 4 days at the Hilton in Lihue. I have to say that the entire process of booking the unit, staying in the unit, and dealing with Dale (the owner of the unit), before and afterward, was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had. Not only were there NO hidden charges, there were actually hidden discounts for our stay. The unit itself (probably what you care about the most) was far better than I expected when booking the reservation in every single way. The view cannot be explained in words or pictures, though I will do my very best. From the pictures I had seen, the ocean view looked far away. Not the case! You could easily see the bay looking out from the shower (looking through the room) or lying on the bed; or you could see the full spectacular view by stepping out the plate-glass doors onto the patio. I have been a lot of places and NEVER seen a view remotely close to this. The unit is very nicely decorated, with many personal touches that make it very homey. There is a real, king-sized bed in this shower that is incredible - I WANT ONE in my next house - with two shower heads and 6 jets, a couple's dream. There is a small refrigerator, microwave oven, and coffee maker in the unit. We used these just for snacks and drinks. If you want to cook full meals, you'd be better off renting one of the other units that come equipped with a full kitchen. I think Dale even owns one (maybe 3105?). So, if you have made it to this point in my review, I am guessing you can tell that I thoroughly enjoyed myself while staying in Dale's unit and had a SPECTACULAR vacation!! I can't wait to go back and I have emailed back and forth with Dale many times, he's a great guy (lucky one too, to own such a great condo)!! I can't recommend this place enough, nor can I give it enough praise. I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting, but hopefully what I've written so far, and the pictures I post, will be enough to convince you. If not, your loss, truly!!

The best part of this place was the amazing views of Bali Hai from the room, the patio, and even the shower (that was a real treat!). We loved sitting out in the evenings watching the sunsets over the moutains and bay. There is also a truly awesome beach nearby--Hideaway Beach-- that had some of the best snorkeling we'd experienced during our stay on Kauai. It's a very quick drive or a 20m walk to get there. Another highlight of this unit was that the owner, Dale Carlson, was very attentive and it was a pleasure to coordinate our stay with him. I'd gladly do business with him in the future. Other positive features: The room was very clean and comfortable. The owner has also been very thoughful about stocking the mini-kitchenette with necessary items, and there is snorkel gear in the closet for your convience as well. This unit was quiet yet is also very conveniently located near to parking for loading and unloading. The only consideration was that the restuarants in the Hanalei Bay Resort and the Princeville resort were closed for repair. This was not a deterent for us since we had planned on going down to the town of Hanalei anyway (more our style than Princeville). But it's something to consider if you're looking for an all-inclusive spot. In summary, I'd highly recommend staying in unit #3106 for the amazing views, quality accomodations, and the owner's exceptional customer service. This was a stop on our vacation to celebration my graduation from medical school, be near beaches, and relax before starting medical residency. I have to say that we were not disappointed!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Kauai in Princeville. Prior to our trip I had researched many hotels/condos and found that you absolutely have to rent from the owner if you plan on staying at the Hanalei Bay Resort. Apparently, the property's new owners aren't as into to upkeep as they should be. However, we did find the grounds to be well maintained. The bar area is open for lunch and dinner, but the restaurant remains closed. We had a fantastic time and our accommodations were great! 3106 is part of a larger condo (3105), but you don't have to rent both rooms. The owner, Dale, gave us a great price and was very responsive to any questions we had. The king size bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was large with a double shower, and the view was amazing. All in all, we highly recommend the room if you plan on eating out most of the time. There was a microwave, toaster, and refrigerator as well as plates, silverware, etc. if you want to reheat leftovers or eat a light breakfast in the room. In addition, there was a pleasant patio area where you can sit out and enjoy the room. Also, the room is conveniently located close to parking, the pool, and the path to the beach. As for Kauai, we spent most of our time on the northern coast which is absolutely stunning. The snorkeling is amazing and staying in Princeville is very convenient. There are some food options in Princeville and Hanalei (about a 7-10 minute drive), but we found most restaurants to be overpriced and the food to be average. If you've never been there, the guidebook, "The Ultimate Kuaui Guidebook", is extremely valuable.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 30th anniversary with 3 days in unit 3106 of the Hanalei Bay Resort. This is the side of the 3105/3106 unit with the kitchenette, big bed and nice big two-person shower. The other side (unit 3105) has a full kitchen and a fold-out bed. The two units together would be idea for 3 people or 2 couples. The view from these units is absolutely wonderful. We woke up every morning to a view of the mountains and Hanalei Bay, and we really did not want to leave. When we were not out exploring, we were sitting on the lanai soaking in the beauty of Kauai. I highly recommend this unit.
