The Rocky Mountain Lodge is a custom, hand-hewn, log home and is a perfect, year-round getaway providing many recreational opportunities. Our cabin is nestled in the mountains at 8700 feet, between Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), 800 feet away by foot, and Arapaho National Forest (ANF), within a half mile. The cabin is located on Sun Valley Lake (a private 22 acre lake), just a few miles north of Grand Lake, Colorado.
Our cabin has all the comforts of home including a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area with two large dining tables which seat 12. Enjoy a good nights sleep on our quality, pillow-top-type mattresses. The cabin features two upstairs bedrooms (one room with two queen beds and one room with one king bed). Both bedrooms have an access to the private balcony where you can sit out and watch the elk in the meadow. There is also a bedroom on the main floor (one bunk bed and one sofa sleeper), and living room (one sofa sleeper). No Smoking and Pets are Not Allowed.
Those who enjoy the outdoors will truly appreciate our Rocky Mountain Lodge. Watch elk graze in the front meadow off our decks or occasionally see mule deer. If your lucky, you might even see a moose come by the cabin or down by the lake. You can also drive into RMNP and observe mule deer, big horn sheep, and moose as well as elk. Hikers, motorcyclists, and ATV riders have access to many miles of trails in ANF and RMNP (hikers only).
Anglers have access to our private, annually stocked, trout lake behind our cabin (no license required). If river fishing is more your style, the Colorado River is only a few hundred feet away via our private easement. Our neighbors provide a horseback riding service where you can ride into RMNP. Other activities within a few minutes of the lodge include golfing, whitewater rafting, snowskiing (Winter Park and Sol Vista), snowmobiling, and cross country skiing (miles of groomed trails within half mile of lodge), and hunting. |
