A bunch of friends rented the whole house for a long weekend to go watch the Bears game.
The house was perfect since it had 7 bedrooms and it was 7 couples..great location, close to shops, restaurants..we seriously didn't even move our rental car. Very clean and had pretty much anything you would need. Great view as well. Would definitely recommend this place!
There was only ONE thing that was a bit annoying..the house has three parking spots and if you have more cars you need to park in the street because there is another home behind..which is perfectly fine, we were aware we only had those three spots, one being inside the garage..we however were tailgating the day of the game and needed to load the stuff before taking off so parked in the driveway to load up and the lady in the back immediately came out to tell us to move. Again that was fine we had no problem doing it, it was just the way she said it..she had an attitude as if we didn't do it or were bothering her. She was just rude. Besides her attitude towards us everything else was great!
My family stayed here for Christmas week. The upstairs had doors we could close, ideal for our bunch of noisy kids. Even with 14 people, there was plenty of hot water—no cold showers! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and the linens were nice. Although, a bedroom suite on the main floor was awkward as you had to pass through another bedroom to enter it or use its separate exterior door. The location is okay. The street is busy during the day but quiets down at night so you can sleep. The grocery store and many other shopping locations are five-minutes away. The beach due west has nice sand and isn't crowded. The kitchen has a lot of supplies, but they are scattered, so you have to hunt for things. The upstairs apartment has no fridge or stove, just a toaster oven, a microwave, dishwasher, and wine cooler. We would have preferred a stove and fridge, especially since there is a space for them. Including them would make this second story apartment ideal as a stand alone rental.
When we arrived, we found that the property had not been cleaned adequately, but, we contacted the property manager and they sent someone out the next morning and cleaned again and got it right. Also, the property is showing wear and needs some attention. For instance, the leather sofa cushions have spots that are worn and should be replaced. There are also a lot of dings in the walls that should be patched, and there are some areas that need touch-up paint. That being said, it is a good property and one that our family would rent again for a big family gathering, provided the wear issues were addressed and it was clean upon arrival.
There is nothing negative to write about this house!!! It looks like the picture displayed but it felt better. The rooms are large and CLEAN and all the necessary amenities are provided. It's not far away from all the major attractions in the area and within walking distance of the grocery store. Best of all, it's only a few blocks from the beach and spectacular sunsets!!! We all loved it and would definitely go back again.
Our family recently stayed at this wonderful house in LaJolla, CA and enjoyed every minute of it. It was super-clean and contained everything we could have possibly needed for our visit. It is conveniently located to attractions like the zoo, Sea World, Coronado, Old Town, and the bay area. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a family friendly, wonderful place to stay.
When extended families get together for trips and occasions, our first choice is always to find a large guest house where we can hang out, have breakfast together before everyone goes their own ways, and then have coffee and talk through the night to compare notes and catch up in the evening. And in between, let our kids spend as much time as possible running around and playing together. Using both floors, the rental house supplied all of that for our family gathering in La Jolla with plenty of space (and bathrooms) for seven couples and half a dozen children. Lots of clean, comfortable communal space which we wouldn't have had if we stayed in separate, expensive hotel rooms and a solid kitchen, plenty of linens, and short walk to the beach. Lots of street parking and proximity to a super market and drug store were handy as well. I called the contact person for some information and she was very helpful and nice, too. We would definitely recommend the house to like-minded travelers.
We rented this house on a very busy and noisy street in La Jolla for a family reunion and my father's 80th birthday.
We found the accommodations to be at best adequate. The floor was so filthy that it was impossible to be barefoot in the house unless you wanted blackened feet, and the whole house was filled with a strong smell of mold and mildew which was only abated by shutting off the ventilation, and caused a strong asthmatic episode for my wife. The windows were so dirty they blackened the curtains on the inside. A cupboard door was broken, which the management attempted to charge us for. The patio furniture was very old and ripped. I feel the owner must not visit this property on a regular basis and hence the house is very poorly maintained.
The kitchen is spacious but oddly laid out, as if by someone who did not know how to cook designed the kitchen. The communal space was quite limited for any large group.
We did have plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, but the lights did not work in all of them.
We are very clean people, and we have other reviews on VRBO where the owners were thrilled with us as renters. However, we were charged exorbitantly for 'extra' cleaning of the bedding and towels, which should simply be expected after a week long stay by 13 guests.
The best that can be said is that shopping and the beach were all walking distance.
I would NOT recommend this house to anyone until it is properly scrubbed and maintained.
