About The Owner

My wife and our three children reside in New Jersey/New York area. We frequently use our Harwich House to vacation with extended family, including our grandchildren.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose East Harwich

My parents built this home in the 1980's and thoroughly enjoyed their 25 year retirement living on 'Papa's Pond,' as we liked to call it. My Dad, a nature lover, enjoyed every aspect of the Cape during each of the four seasons. He would sail, canoe, harvest shell fish and hike nearly all year around as Harwich grew into an absolute paradise for his retirement. We purchased the home in 2007, when our Mom entered assisted living.

What makes this house unique

When we're not hanging out in the backyard and enjoying the pond, we'll typically venture out toward the ocean beaches, via a hike or bike ride. Our favorite kayaking trip is the inland route around the Chatham....a wonderful way to sightsee and get some exercise. The Oyster Bars in Wellfleet are a 'must stop' on the way to Provincetown, and a whalewatch out of Orleans is almost always in season. When weather permits, we love to take the high speed ferry from Chatham over to Nantucket.

Great two weeks with family on Joseph's Pond

  • 5 of 5

House is very clean with beautiful private beach in backyard. We had intended to explore the Cape but could never get off the pond. Great swimming and fishing, with all Watersport amenities, kayaking, canoe and sunfish included with the house

beautiful, quiet an peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed on the neighboring Bucks Pond in 4 different locations. Josephs Pond was a bit quieter but still very close for those who want to kayak both ponds or enjoy the public beaches and walk the community. Our stay here was one of the nicest locations on the water with easy access for the grandparents to watch the children play, and a home that is very well cared for. I would love to stay again in the future and highly recommend the property.

Dreamy Vacation Home That Exudes RELAXATION!

  • 5 of 5

I came to the house twice this summer - first with my husband and our daughter in August and later in September with my husband for a quick getaway. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning. We had never been to the Cape before - I had mentioned this to the owners and they left us some recommendations for food, activities etc. We had a blast walking around Chatham visiting the stores, enjoyed beers at Squires and even did a fishing trip on our final day!

The house itself is great - updated kitchen, big bedrooms with excellent light and a fantastic cross breeze that makes sleeping a dream :) - the living room with the wood stove and sliding doors to the patio is cozy and made for a perfect setting for our game nights and movies.

The backyard is incredible - great for family activities and BEST of all - a lake with a PRIVATE beach!! Our daughter swam every afternoon while we lounged on our beach chairs.

I mentioned to the owners after we left that one of the pillows in the guest room was probably ready to be updated and wouldn't you know, when my husband and I returned in September, the pillows AND mattresses on the twin beds had been updated! The response and attentiveness of the owners was wonderful. We cannot wait to return next summer!

Excellent Vacation Home on the Cape

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect long weekend getaway at this great home at the Cape! We had a group of 4 couples stay at the house, and we all had a great time. The setting is beautiful with the two ponds in the backyard, and my then boyfriend, now fiance, actually proposed to me on the sandbar between the two ponds! It was a truly beautiful spot for a proposal.

The house itself is cozy, with a great updated kitchen that is great for cooking and hanging out with a group. The house offers great privacy, but is conveniently close to the beach, restaurants, and shops nearby.

I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great Cape Cod vacation!

My favorite spot on the Cape

  • 5 of 5

Hands down my favorite house and location on the Cape. This house is located on Vacation Lane and it could not be more appropriately named! I have stayed with family and friends on a few occasions during both summer and fall months, and the pond is equally as gorgeous during both seasons. There's an extra special charm on the Cape during the off season, and highly recommend visiting during the fall, winter or spring. Dave is always extremely responsive and helpful with any questions and making sure we are settled comfortably. We always enjoy grilling outside with the pond view, and breakfast in the brand new kitchen where you can still see views of the sparkling pond. The house is close to many Cape classics, including downtown Chatham, local bike paths, golf, ocean, etc. A true piece of heaven on CC! Ready to plan our next trip.

Wonderful House !

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for families. (even large ones) House is offering a large kitchen, a living room, a sun room and a very nice garden, with three couples and 2 babies each one of us occasionally needed a quiet spot during the day and we never had a hard time finding one.

Ponds are great for kayaking and canoeing.(2 kayaks and a canoe in the house is a huge plus). However for "swimming" and "playing with sand" babies liked the beach very close to the house. (1-2 min. walking)

Neighbourhood is very quite and close to most areas. You may find everything nearby.

House is very well kept and anything you need is just there.

The den may very well be used a spare BR for a single person and the 3rd BA is a plus.

I would definetly recommend this property to anyone . It can be a romantic getaway spot, it can also be a family fun place, it is all up to you.

We had a great time in this lovely Harwich house and owner Dave was always a huge help when we needed.

Harwich is a great location for 'seeing' the Cape. Located at the 'elbow' makes it a convenient and easy drive to Provincetown, Wellfleet and Truro, as well as to Hyannis and Falmouth. Joseph's Pond is in the backyard and offers swimming, sailing and boating, while the Sound, Bay and Ocean are all within minutes of the house. While most activities focus on the out of doors, the Cape Cod Visitors Center, shopping in Chatham, viewing the art galleries in Wellfleet or a trip to P-town all represent great rainy day alternatives.
