The house is light and airy and in newer, pristine condition. Over $100,000 in improvements within the last few years. There are two upstairs decks. The living, dining room and kitchen on upper level with decks, with ocean views. The back deck has a gourmet BBQ, a patio table and chairs. 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs and one bathroom upstairs. Sleeps up to six people. 3 blocks from beach , on a hill, constant ocean breeze. Walking distant to town, with many dining options.
I grew up in New York. I moved to California to enjoy the ocean and the warm winters. I love to surf so after living in the inland valley of El Cajon awhile, I sold my home there and bought my present home. I like to take trips back to visit my relatives on the east coast once a year, so I rent my home out to give others a chance to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer.
John Darcey purchased this house in 2000
I am a 'water person'. I enjoy being by the ocean and surfing, riding bikes, playing tennis, golfing and walking on the beach . When I saw this house, I had to have it! It is open, full of light, has a view of the ocean and it has two decks to enjoy the view. You can also see the ocean from the dining room table.
My home is central to all the major attractions in San Diego. So you can be as active or passive as you wish. If you want to stay home and relax, there is a gourmet BBQ on the back deck with a table and chairs so you can eat outdoors. There is a hammock downstairs just outside one of the bedrooms. I have a big screen TV in the living room so you can watch your favorite shows and movies. If you want to take a stroll down to Ocean Beach, I have an umbrella and beach chairs for you to use. I also have surf boards, boogie boards and bikes you can use as well.
This home was absolutely beautiful. It was only minutes from everything we wanted to see, and only a couple minutes from the airport. A short 5 minute walk put you right on the beach. The house was warm and inviting. The view from the back deck was stunning, and we had fireworks from Sea World off the front deck every night.
My home is centrally located and is close to all major attractions. A must see is the world famous San Diego Zoo at Balboa park. There is also a botanical garden in Balboa park and several museums, including the Aero Space Musemum, the Museum of man, the Art Museum, and lots of small shops. I would suggest you make it a two day adventure, as there is so much to see! Another great attraction that is close by would be Seaworld. You get to see and even touch and feed some of the sea animals. There are shows starring the famous Shamou, dolphins, seals and penguins. This is another all day adventure! Old Town is only about 5 miles away and well worth checking out. It has terrific Mexican food, a live theater and lots of quaint little shops to explore. You can even take a tour through the famous haunted Whaley House. Take a trip across the Coronado Bay Bridge and visit the Hotel Del Coronado, which has been in several major motion pictures. Further down on Coronado, off the Silver Strand they offer Gondola rides just like they have in Italy. They serve champagne and chocolate covered strawberries during the ride. Explore the Embarcadero, right at the end of downtown San Diego on the San Diego Bay. There are lots of restaurants and shops and outdoor entertainment. Also, be sure to visit Harbor Island and Shelter Island, just about 5 miles from the house. For the kids, or the kid in you, there is Belmont park right on Mission Beach with their giant wooden roller coaster and other rides. These are just a few of the attractions close to the house. If you just want to stay close to the house and enjoy the ocean breezes, you might want to take a stroll or ride down to Ocean beach, you can walk along the pier. I also have beach chairs and an umbrella, surf boards, boogie boards and bikes you can use for your pleasure.
