Nicely updated, quiet location for our first Kiawah trip

  • 5 of 5

Having never been to KI, I hardly knew where to start but gladly happened upon this rental. Located in West Beach, we liked the quiet feel and freedom to let our kids ride bikes on their own (they had an exciting encounter with some deer). We do wonder about staying in a more central location so we could access events easier but this was not that important on our first visit. We had quick beach access and rode bikes on the beach several times in the evening. We hoped to see the dolphins strand eating but no luck.

The home itself was great. It appears to have been recently updated and we found it in wonderful condition -- especially the kitchen, which is open with a nice center island and has everything you could ask for -- I felt horrible that I couldn't remember where everything was originally stored, as it was in pristine shape when we arrived. We enjoyed every meal outside... either on the deck or in the screened porch -- even having a nice dinner during a thunderstorm. The bathrooms appeared to be recently redone too and overall, the home was very comfortable and inviting. I felt like I was staying in a friends' home rather than a rental. I understand the affection I hear from people when they talk about visiting KI -- I think it must show in how they treat everything there.

I was somewhat skeptical about using Wyndham but that turned out to be just fine. They even helped with an issue with bike rental and they were very good at communicating with us.... at the time of reservation, when we hadn't pick the key up 4pm they emailed with detailed instructions on what to do if we were going to be after 6pm, etc. Very pleased with that aspect. They also had little details available -- washing liquid, dishwasher detergent, washing detergent, and I am not sure who to credit -- the owner or Wyndham.

I would recommend this home; I would stay there again. I might want to stay in another area of the island for a different experience but that doesn't mean this was bad. I think i prefer the single family feel of the cottages vs a multi-unit building. Overall, wonderful place. Enjoy your trip!
