Enjoy our home when we're not there! Moondance is a private home nestled between Dupont State Forest, Pisgah Forest and Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area (Jones Gap State Park + Caesars Head) and 15 minutes to downtown Brevard. Only a 45 minute drive to Asheville Regional and Spartanburg/Greenville, South Carolina airports. Moondance is easy to find at night with paved road access, no 4 WD needed. There is parking on-site for up to 5 vehicles (room for a trailer).

Hike, Bike, Fish, Canoe, Swim, Pickleball and Relax with your family, friends and pets. Located between Dupont Forest, Jones Gap & Caesars Head (Mountain Bridge) and only 15 minutes from the charming town of Brevard, NC.

Soak your tired muscles in the 5-6-person hot tub after a day of hiking/biking and enjoy the nature and wildlife that thrive in the 1,000-acre Sherwood Forest, an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. Comfy beds await you with soft cotton sheets and plenty of pillows (cozy flannel sheets in the winter). The eat-in kitchen is fully outfitted and the separate dining room will seat your entire group, or enjoy your meals on the large private deck.

This home features not just a hot tub but a bike washing station, a gas grill, pool table, ping pong table and a basketball hoop. Take a 5 minute walk to Trout Lake and keep what you catch; no fishing license needed. Of course there are rocking chairs and a fireplace for romantic evenings.

Fall in love with the magic of Sherwood Forest and enjoy all it has to offer. This enchanting area includes more than 20 miles of hiking trails with meandering streams and gentle waterfalls. Explore and see if you can find the old stills! Enjoy fishing on five lakes, swimming in a heated junior Olympic pool (Memorial Day - end of summer), play tennis, and golf on an executive course where the hazards include wildflower beds and an occasional llama caddy. No gates, no worries, just peace and privacy.

The concrete driveway is steep but 4WD is not needed (I drive a Camry). You can pull right up to the house and park in the garage if you'd like. There is on-site parking for five vehicles including a trailer.

Children are always welcome, but the house is not 'child proof' for toddlers (e.g. no gate on the stairway, no outlet covers, cleaning supplies in the cupboards).

Had a nice stay at Moondance. The hot tub was nice and warm and the house was very clean. We enjoyed the location close to a lot of waterfall hikes, Caesar's Head State Park, and Brevard.

Peaceful stay near waterfalls

This home was beautiful and provided the perfect spot for five people (in our case, but can fit more) a relaxing space to unwind. There is a hot tub on the property, a lake within a short walk, a cute wine, cheese and produce store two minutes away by car, and waterfall hikes 15 minutes away by car. So many good restaurants and bakeries were within 20 minutes of driving.

Perfect place to stay in Brevard

We enjoyed our stay at Moondance. The home has everything…table tennis, pool table, plenty of room, and a hot tub. We walked to the tennis courts and the pool. We hiked many of the trails - great views from the Cave Trail. The Whistle Stop nearby is a great place to find local coffee and food items. Sherwood Forest is far enough away from town to feel private but still close enough to visit Brevard, Asheville, etc. We might have found a new favorite place to stay in the mountains!

Summer vacation

We loved our stay at Moondance and hope to return again! This was the cleanest property we have ever rented, and it was exactly as advertised and was the perfect home base for our family to enjoy all of the amazing outdoor adventures that the area has to offer. The trails and lakes in Sherwood Forest are amazing, and we also enjoyed exploring Brevard, Cedar Mountain, Pisgah, and DuPont. Many thanks to the owners for being such excellent hosts.

Great Place for an Active Family! Perfect Location!

Great location!

Wonderful location for accessing Brevard, Pisgah, and DuPont. We hiked, biked, shopped, and even fit in a day in Asheville. The house was lovely for 6 adults and 1 kiddo. Sherwood Forest had gorgeous trails and lakes. So much to do and so little time! Can’t wait to return.

Awesome Labor Day stay!!

Our family has been to many vacation homes and this one was by far the cleanest one in which we have stayed. Very comfortable rooms, fully stocked kitchen (we did not lack for one single thing we needed), and complete peacefulness day and night. Sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch listening to the creek across the street was the epitome of mountain living!! We would revisit this property without a second thought.

Awesome house very close to DuPont and Raven Cliff Falls

House was very clean and the perfect size for our family of 4 and two other friends. Very close to DuPont and Raven Cliff Falls. Our group was split into mountain bikers and hikers. Mountain bikers went to DuPont and Pisgah, hikers to DuPont, Raven Cliff Falls, and the many hiking trails on site. Ability to use the 2-car garage and bike wash station was a huge plus!

We love this house

This is our second year in a row here, and we have already booked to come back next year for our annual family fall mountain trip. The owner's are so kind and helpful. The house has all we need. It is very clean and spacious and such an easy place to have our family (2 parents and kids aged 0-8). We love the bumper pool table, ping pong table, hot tub, games and puzzles, and more. The neighborhood is so great - we love hiking the neighborhood trails, canoeing and swinging and fishing at the lake. It is decently close to all the things we love to do (things in Hendersonville, Pisgah, Brevard). We highly recommend this home!

Pretty Place family time

Wonderful home for a get together with family. Centrally located for our stay, which was to visit Pretty Place and Brevard. The home was one of the cleanest we have stayed with VBRO. Everything you could want in a VBRO and more supplied!!! Only negative is... We did not have front wheel drive on our vehicle and the rain made it hard to get up the steep driveway, but there was parking at the bottom of the driveway. YES !!! we would rent again ..Beautiful place with so much to offer !! Thank you for our stay !!!!

Great rental

We came to Brevard to enjoy the mountain bike trails. We loved the proximity of the house to Dupont, and Pisgah and downtown Brevard weren’t a bad drive. The neighborhood was very nice. Being right off Greenville Hwy made it very easy to get around, too. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The hot tub was an added bonus at the end of a long day of riding and hiking. Wr cooked or grilled most nights. The kitchen was well-equipped (there was a garlic press and a cheese shredder😊). We also enjoyed the canoe and the neighborhood hiking trails. We didn’t need the bike wash station this time around, but it was nice to know it was there, just in case. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a spot close to Dupont, and just a little bit out of town!

FALL COLORS/ WATERFALLS/ SHOPPING IN BREVARD/ HIKING

This 4-bedroom home is located in the neighborhood of "Sherwood Forest". You would never know there were other homes near you as the developer of this neighborhood maintained the true feeling of a "forest" and there is nature everywhere. It is a beautiful development with lakes, trails, etc. The home was well-appointed with comfortable beds/ multiple pillow choices and a variety of rooms to spread out for a multi-generational family gathering. There is one room dedicated to cards which was great after a day of hiking the GORGEOUS DuPont State Forest with all the waterfalls it has to offer. But- before playing cards...we were able to soak our "happy-tired" muscles in the outdoor hot tub. There is a covered front porch that and a large back deck. The location of this home is 15 min (+/-) from the adorable town of Brevard which offers a large variety of shops/ restaurants (Several blocks worth). Connestee Falls Park is a 5 min drive up the road and offers the most beautiful waterfalls for those who cannot or don't want to do the longer hikes that are required in DuPont State Park. We had never been to this part of NC and wanted to see the Fall colors. We truly had no idea the majesty of the waterfalls that were present in DuPont State Forest and this area of the state. Please make this a "go-to" for your vacation list and you will not be disappointed.

The Best House!

This house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location! The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The big dining room was perfect. We loved the hot tub and ping pong table. Great trails and fishing lake right by the house. Absolutely perfect in every way! We would rent again!

Short stay to visit with nearby family!

This was a peaceful & very comfortable stay! We had everything we needed for sure! The beds were very comfortable & we slept well. While preparing breakfast one morning, we counted 7-8 small deer walking right behind the upper tree line behind the house! We heard them before we saw them, as there was a lot of leaf crunching announcing their arrival! We were very thankful for the fireplace - it was quite cozy. The driveway became challenging for our truck, after it rained & more leaves came down. It was hard to get traction, so we were thankful that the owners provided a parking area @ the road level. The porch & deck were nice places to sit & enjoy our coffee! We recommend Moondance to anyone looking for a quiet respite!

Wonderful place!

We loved this place and hope to go again and again. It was spacious, clean, had all we needed and more, was comfortable. The kids loved the hot tub and bumper pool and ping pong and basketball at the house. We all loved hiking right from the front door for miles through the neighborhood on trails, and we loved swinging and fishing and having a picnic at the lake a couple of minutes walk down the road. The bedrooms and closets were all spacious and easy to fit a pack and play in any room or closet. It was about 20 min to brevard (on windy roads, which was a bit of a struggle for our car sick kids). Check in and check out were a breeze. Thank you for sharing your home!
