About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps - 4)

'This cabin has been the best accommodation we have ever experienced on a vacation. The cabin is private, secluded, charming and wonderful. Thank you for the list of Falls to visit.' Guests from Sumpter, SC

Welcome to Big Branch Cabins, LLC. Featured here is a two bedroom cabin, Tall Oaks. Situated on almost 12 private, wooded acres, the cabin offers peace and solitude yet is convenient to area attractions, parks and forests. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom and will accommodate 4 people. This mountain home is decorated with unique antiques and comfortable furniture. It offers beautiful pine walls and maple hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped to meet all of your cooking needs and a charcoal grill is available to grill your favorite dishes. The queen size beds offer a comfortable night's sleep and are adorned with beautiful hand picked quilts.

Our mountain home beckons you to sit on the rocking chair front porch and enjoy the sights and sounds of Appalachian nature. It is also the perfect place to relax after a day of outdoor activities exploring the 'Land of the Waterfalls.' We have added many personal touches to the cabin to make it a retreat to remember.

We invite you to take an evening stroll on the Big Branch Trail which leads to the Big Branch Stream, small stream for wading tucked away in the property. Along the trail, you will enjoy the native Pines and Laurels...You might also see a deer. On another evening, we invite you to the picnic area where there is a fire pit which is perfect for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows (firewood provided). While there, enjoy a game of horseshoes or bring a frisbee or ball for a favorite game.

We feel that our cabins are so peaceful that you might want to spend your entire time here--but, it you want to venture out, there is plenty to do in the area. We are fortunate to be in close proximity to Dupont State Forest, Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park, Nantahala National Forest, and Caesers Head State Park. You will enjoy many hiking trails, biking paths, horseback riding areas, fishing streams, and beautiful waterfalls.

We recommend a visit to Looking Glass Falls in the Pisgah National Forest or a refreshing swim at Hooker Falls in the Dupont State Forest. We also suggest a hike to the Raven Cliff Falls in Caesers Head State Park (our favorite).

The quaint town of Brevard, home of the legendary Brevard Music Center, is another 'must see' and hosts numerous antique stores, novelty shops, and excellent restaurants. See our website for a detailed list of area attractions.

We are looking forward to sharing our beautiful mountain cabin with you and we hope to see you soon.

About Ada

Chris, Charlene, Dale and Ada would like to welcome you to their private, mountain cabin. The property that the cabin is on has been in their family for generations. After graduating from college, (Chris has Bachelor degrees in Sport Information and Marketing and Management, Charlene has Master's degrees in School Counseling and Library Science, and Dale has an Associate's degree in Heating and Air Conditioning) they decided to design and build a special retreat so that they could share their amazing Appalachian mountains with others. In 2003, their dream became a reality and they began welcoming guests to "The Land of the Waterfalls". Please feel free to call and ask us questions about the accommodations. You will probably speak with Ada, Dale and Charlene's mom. She loves talking with guests and can answer most any question about this area.

Ada purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Ada chose Smoky Mountains

The property that the 11.75 acre retreat is on was inherited from Dale and Charlene's grandfather who moved to the Brevard area in the 1930's. The property is bordered by thousands of acres of land that is being purchased and will eventually be open to the public and known as Headwaters State Forest. As kids, Dale and Charlene explored the property with their grandparents and are thrilled to share it with you!

What makes this cabin unique

The property is private yet convenient to many of the outdoor adventures that draw visitors to Brevard every year. Dupont State Forest is about 15 minutes away. Pisgah National Forest is about 25 minutes from the retreat. The quaint town of Brevard is only a 20 minute drive. There is fishing and biking along the East Fork road and river. Ask us about our favorite childhood swimming hole that is about a mile from the cabins and we tell you how to get there...there is also a beautiful waterfall there to enjoy.

Perfect Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed in this cabin for 3 nights and it was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was comfortably decorated and had everything we needed to prepare meals. We explored the mountains, hiked and swam in waterfalls, and saw the full eclipse while we were there. The town was quaint with plenty of shops and restaurants. We would love to go back some day!

I loved your little cabin in the woods! It was secluded yet close to the everything we needed!

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying at your cabin. We had everything we needed to be comfortable. Ada thought of everything! We had coffee and filters, popcorn and spices. My family was a little surprised when they found we did not have wi-fi or cell service but it turned out really well. We were able to watch movies without everyone scrolling their phones! The only suggestion we have is a larger flat screen tv and the mattresses are in need of replacement in our opinion! However, overall we really enjoyed staying here! The Dupont National Forest was only about 15 min. away and the waterfalls were breathtaking! The trails were wide and topped with pea gravel and sand. Highly recommend visiting there and staying in this cabin!

Stayed for two nights in this cute, two-bedroom cabin in the woods near Brevard. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Location was perfect for great hikes at DuPont State Park and Connastee Falls.
