About Nick

I grew up in Maplewood, NJ and moved to Wellfleet full time when I was 20. I have lived here full time for 45 years so I must be 65- Oy! I work in the home care business, caring for over 20 homes and contracting construction and maintenance work.I am also a Real Estate Broker and would be happy to help you find your dream home.

My off-time passions are racquetball and fishing. I love my beautiful wife Elisa and my life on the Cape!

Nick purchased this house in 1930

Why Nick chose Cape Cod

The home was first purchased by my grandmother in 1930 from Capt.Lorenzo Dow Baker, the founder of United Fruit AKA the Banana King. It was passed to my parents and then to me. I hope to keep it in the family for many more years. We believe it was first built in the late 1700's as a supply store for the fishermen who used the pier that used to be at the end of the road. It was later converted into a Greek Revival Style home @1840. Before the white men took over the area was inhabited by the Wampanoag Tribe. The adjacent dune area has yielded numerous primitive artifacts.

What makes this house unique

I am mostly there to work on the place, which I love doing, and it is the perfect place to be when the flats are open for oystering. Slurp! I live with my wife in the highlands of Cove View Rd. about a quarter mile away. But when we are at the house, just looking at the view makes us calm and happy. Our son got married there and it was the most romantic backdrop. We love this place and think you will, too.

Beautiful setting - by the water.

Lovely sunsets, quiet and close to town.

The owner Nick was very attentive and very courteous

Owner's Response: I'm not surprised that this guest was stingy with the stars. He was high maintenance. His wife saw a spider so I hired Terminix for $300 to come and put on a show. They treated the home for spiders but told me on the side that it would be more effective to suck them up in the vacuum. In short, I respected their every concern and went overboard to please them. I would hesitate to invite them back.

A delightfully cosy place to spend Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted a quiet break from family chaos this Thanksgiving, so we looked for a comfortable place to spend a few days. The Little White House was perfect. It's a classic Cape house, solidly built and immaculately maintained. Great views of the salt march and across to the Wellfleet Town Pier. Everything was comfortable and thoughtfully arranged; the kitchen is extremely well-equipped for a rental, and Nick and Elisa left some apples, nuts, cider and sparkling water for us.

This is an old house, with the smallish rooms and windows and low ceilings typical of older Cape houses. You'll need to duck your head frequently when going up the stars and through the doors. If you are looking for large open plan spaces and big picture windows and French doors, or a huge kitchen with granite counters and all the latest appliances, this probably isn't for you. Also, one of the bedrooms is a walk-through and there's just one bathroom, so this might not be great for a larger group. For a couple, it was much more space than we needed, and would probably be just right if we had brought our two children, as well. If you don't mind an older house, this one offers both comfort and cheerfulness. It has a very nice feel to it. It's also in a lovely private setting. We didn't use the outdoor space because it was cold, but the yard and garden looked like a wonderful place to sit and watch the sunsets. There's an outdoor fire-pit, too.

More generally: we love the Cape in the off-season. No traffic!! And if you like taking walks, winter beaches and trails are the best. No crowds, same gorgeous views.

wonderful retreat

  • 5 of 5

A house with an incredible character. So much love in every detail. You feel at home immediately. The view on the wellfleet bay is exceptional. Calm and relaxing spot. The interior is pure Cape Cod Style, naturally welcoming. A bit of nostalgia in a good way. Everything is functional for vacation. The kitchen is well-supplied, beds are comfortable and the outdoor-shower is "delicious". We felt in love with this wonderful place and had a great time at the white house.

Charming -- but small.

  • 3 of 5

Great view of the harbor, wonderful outdoor space complete with hammock, and Nick is a very responsive landlord. Main problem: the one bathroom is downstairs, so a bit of a hassle to negotiate a steep staircase if one has to go at night. It's an old house -- charming -- but windows are small, and one bedroom is only accessible by walking through another bedroom, or else from outside. The walk to town along the beach can be mucky and difficult, depending on the tides; it's not really a beach, more of a narrow path strewn with large dead horseshoe crabs for much of the way; also some high grass.

Owner's Response: I am grateful that I was given credit for being responsive. This guest was certainly high maintenance. They claimed not to have noticed in the contract that check out was supposed to be at 10AM. The cleaning crew had to work around their things until they were finally out two hours later. Much of what this guest says is true and we try to make it all clear in our listing. It is an antique home and short of tearing it down and starting over we have done our best to supply all the modern amenities like broadband internet, enhanced cable tv, and yes, even indoor plumbing. When the home was built none of this was even heard of. We don't recommend that large parties rent from us and I don't know how many were in this family but there were certainly three generations present. We also don't recommend that the elderly undertake the walk to Town as it is a bit of an adventure and we try to warn elderly guests that the bathroom is not on the same floor as the bedrooms. Our feeling is that for the money, you can't beat the charm, privacy and location!
