Avoid the parking issues or walking miles on the beach to reach the swimable Tunnels Beach.

Hidden away from the world; in a lush, tropical setting, this charming traditional Hawaiian cedar-wood home is private and features a large covered lanai backing undeveloped (jungle) conservation land with views of the beautiful Pohakukane mountain range mountain and waterfall views.

Kaiolohia Hale offers the perfect setting for your romantic getaway or extreme adventure. A short easy 5 minute walk (300 meters) to Makua Beach (Tunnels), which is a long sandy beach with a protective outer reef for swimming and snorkeling among sea turtles and the endangered Hawaiian Monk seals. Rated one of the top beaches in Hawaii, Tunnels has very limited parking so being within walking distance is a great advantage. This beach has a spectacular view of Mt. Makana (Bali Hai); the famous backdrop for the classic movie South Pacific. Sailing, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing and seasonal whale watching are all close by. Limahuli Garden, Na Pali coast and Kalalau hiking trail (rated one of the top ten hikes in the world) are just a mile away. Six beach-cruiser style bicycles are available to explore all the north shore sights local style.

Relax in our outdoor hot & cold shower or soak in the 6 foot tub on the lanai with jungle, mountain and waterfall views after a day at the beach, hiking or just taking a reading break.

The quaint surf town of Hanalei has two farmers markets per week (Saturday morning & Tuesday afternoon), dozens of dining choices, shopping, surfboard, kayak & other water sports equipment rentals, lessons and tours available.

pens and electric cigarettes are also prohibited.

Only registered guests are allowed on property – no visitors, no

service providers.

vacation accommodation on island - this accommodation is for

up to six vacation travelers' traveling alone.

Rotating guests are prohibited.

Very comfortable house in a stunning location

We had an eventful stay in this wonderful house. Our hosts Adam and Kim were full of local information and the property was well equipped and in a perfect location close to beaches and the Na Pali coast, we saw so much wildlife including the endangered monk seals and several green turtles whilst snorkelling at Anini Beach. Whilst we were staying the torrential rain caused a landslide on the road which meant we were completely cut off from any shops. Kim was fabulous, she kept us up to date with the state of the road, when it would open again and as we were very low on food she also cooked us a pasta bake and made sure we had all we needed. I have no hesitation in recommending this house and it's hosts, thank you Adam & Kim we had a wonderful 10 days in Haena.

The best vacation rental on Kauai!

This rental exceeded our expectations! My husband and I spent six wonderful nights at this little slice of paradise. The owners are fantastic and so very generous! From greeting us with cocktails to checking in to see if we needed anything from the store while they were out, Adam and Kim were such a delight.

The short walk to tunnels beach was a huge plus and the home had all the beach gear we could need. My favorite thing about staying here is that large tub on the back lanai. Perfect for a morning coffee and read while watching the rain or birds. We found the home to be well furnished and tastefully decorated.

Trust me, you want to stay here :-).

Better than our fantasies!

Adam and Kim were amazing hosts- from our frozen welcome cocktails to insulated cups as a parting gift, they couldn't have been friendlier and more accommodating. The house is even bigger than the pictures showed, with plenty of space for the four of us. We could barely pry ourselves away from the lanai with its comfy seating and view of mountains, the waterfall and colorful tropical plants. The kitchen was beautifully appointed and the grill in back made for lovely meals. A short drive away is Hanalei, a sweet village with groceries, restaurants and shopping.

Advertised as "Five minute walk to Tunnels Beach" and it really was! Oh my goodness, we found that this "Bali Hai" beach was the most specular beach on Kauai. Visibility for snorkeling on calm days was like a swimming pool filled with tropical fish, including the Humuhumu.

All of Adam and Kim's recommendations were spot-on, including their weather forecasts.

I didn't want a sterile hotel room, but to feel part of the land, and our stay at Kaiolohia made us feel almost like residents. Thank you, Adam and Kim, for your hospitality and a dream come true.

A glorious get away that felt like home

There were three of us in our party - my husband, my 80 year old mother and myself. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Adam and Kim's property. Just as other reviewers have noted, Kim and Adam are great hosts, who welcomed us warmly, responded promptly to any queries, but otherwise left us to enjoy the gorgeous and peaceful surroundings. Since we were coming in February we knew there would probably be a fair bit of rain (and there was, for the first half of our stay). Staying at Kim and Adam's gave us the ability to enjoy our tropical vacation no matter the weather - if swimming wasn't on the itinerary, we could simply enjoy a good book and a tropical beverage on the lanai (wide open porch) and gaze out on the beautiful view up the mountainside. The kitchen was perfect for this cook, and the natural wood interior is both elegant and comfortable. We walked down to Tunnels Beach several times, and almost every time we found a seal or a sea turtle resting on the shore. We loved watching the surfers, snorkeling and just generally slowing down and taking it all in. We're already looking forward to our next visit! Mahalo Adam and Kim for a wonderful stay.
