About the property

Peaceful And Scenic Waterfront Cove & Short Walk To Town/Harbor!

The ‘Cottage on the Cove’ is a fresh and cozy 3 bedroom, 2 full bath cottage idyllically located on picturesque Lewis Cove with breathtaking views of Linekin Bay and Cabbage Island. This tidal waterfront cottage is situated on a large and beautiful property just across the cove from delightful Barrett’s Park, where you can swim, fish and explore the rocks for crabs and periwinkles. Relax on the deck and take in the fresh sea air and peaceful scenery, or take a short walk to the many shops, restaurants and galleries in the historic town of Boothbay Harbor.

Recently made available as a vacation rental for the first time ever, you will find a pleasantly revitalized, clean and comfortably decorated 100+ year old cottage with new bedding and linens, fully supplied kitchen with appliances, dishware and cookware. It includes all of the modern amenities, full size washer/dryer and sleeps 5 comfortably.

Just a short walk across our bustling little harbor by way of the famous footbridge or even by trolley, lies our historic seaside town, where you can browse the many shops and boutiques, stroll through our art galleries, enjoy local, fresh caught seafood at one of our outstanding restaurants, or book an adventure on one of the many excursions offered. Whether its whale watching, sailing, kayaking, charter fishing, viewing seals, puffins and lighthouses up close, or a trip to Monhegan Island, the list of activities is endless. Walk along the waterfront and enjoy an ice cream cone or take in the band concert on the library lawn. Learn about our ship-building heritage or listen to the “fish tales” of our colorful Boothbay natives while sampling some of our local micro brews.

Check out the Marine Aquarium or take the kids to the Railway Village. Enjoy a round (or two) of world class 18 hole golf at The Boothbay Country Club or try your hand at mini-golf. While here, spend some time at the spectacular 250 acre Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens or spend the day hiking one of the Boothbay Region Land Trust’s over 30 miles of hiking trails, open year-round to the public, free of charge. It’s a great way to take in the region’s natural scenic beauty. Speaking of scenic beauty, any visit to Boothbay Harbor wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Ocean Point in East Boothbay. Its beauty will truly take your breath away and is always recommended.

Well equipped and comfortable with lovely views

  • 4 of 5

Location and view were perfect as it was away from traffic but close to a quiet park as well as an easy walk to the Harbor itself. The house was comfortable and very well equipped. Perhaps a bit more lighting in the kitchen over work stations would be helpful, but we had everything we needed to prepare our own meals.

Beds were very comfortable. Sheets, blankets and pillows soft! Good Verizon LTE service --10 times as fast. Provided WIFI did not have adequate speed for work or Netflix. We are happy with our stay and hope to return!

An excellent choice when in Boothbay Harbor

  • 5 of 5

We initially booked the Cottage for four people, but due to life getting in the way it ended up being a quiet getaway for my mother and I. The home is very comfortable, and would have been for four as well. The decor is pleasing, the kitchen is very well-equipped, and it is clean. The location is ideal with the cove behind you to admire with your morning coffee/tea/local blueberry muffin (yes, those are a MUST!), and it is a short walk to several very good restaurants and downtown for even more. I can echo what Jill said - the location is so perfect that aside from two day trips we took, the car sat. We walked and biked everywhere. It is very peaceful and relaxing. It was really hard to leave, but I know I will be back.

On top of that, Alicia is a most gracious hostess. She went out of her way to ensure our stay would be comfortable, and responded in a timely manner to all questions/requests.

getaway for two couples

  • 5 of 5

We met our friends who have moved to another state. The cottage was so charming and decorated in a darling manner that was also very welcoming. We enjoyed the back deck that looked out over the water to a park. We walked to that park as well. We loved that we only used the car when we spent a day in Portland. The two days we spent in Boothbay, it remained parked as we walked a couple of blocks to the footbridge and over to the downtown area. I wish I could remember the name of the place that was on the cottage side of the footbridge near the church . . . we had the most amazing lobster chowder that had the equivalent of a full lobster tail in it. We had to ask for a knife to cut the lobster into bite-sized pieces. Anyway, we really enjoyed walking home in the evening to the quiet neighborhood of the cottage. I initially asked for extra photos of the bathrooms because I'm a stickler for a decent bathroom, and both bathrooms were just lovely. I very highly recommend this cottage, and part of the appeal was its reasonable price.

Family Vacation with Teens

  • 5 of 5

The house on Lobster Cove was a great home base for us as we explored Boothbay Harbor for the first time. The house is clean, and updated, and we all had plenty of room. It is an older house that still has some quaint features, like wide floor boards upstairs, old doorknobs, and a rather steep stairway that my husband had to watch his head on as the ceiling is a bit low. The downstairs bathroom is new with a great washer/dryer. Although the house is on a corner, and I originally worried about the street noise, we slept with the windows open every night and hardly heard a thing. It is a very quiet spot. The deck is very nice in the morning, especially if you like to get up early and watch the sun come up over the cove. We did not swim in the cove, but we saw people swimming at Barretts Park. We would probably bring our kayaks to launch from Barretts Park next time. We brought bikes but didn't use them much, as the roads are very narrow.

The walk to the footbridge and the ice cream shops took about 10-15 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants on the Lobster Cove side of town, and we particularly enjoyed the Lobster Dock. We loved all the walking around town, as we never paid for parking while enjoying the activities the town offers. We enjoyed going to Monhegan Island for the day, taking a wildlife kayak tour with Tidal Transit, looking for Puffins on Cap'n Fish's boat tour and fishing for squid off the footbridge at night (get supplies at the bike shop). It is a short drive to the Botanical Gardens and Dolphin mini golf. We did go on a bit of a longer adventure to the Transportation Museum, which my husband and 2 boys really enjoyed.

Relaxing family vacation in a fabulous location!!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect vacation house to bond with our family. Boothbay Harbor has so much to offer families that are active or just want to relax. The view of the home overlooks Barrett's Park and swimming in the harbor was so much fun.

The home is in a perfect location to downtown Boothbay. It's a short walk over the footbridge where you will find activites like stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, restaurants or great shopping.

This is truly a gem in a beautiful part of Maine.
