The Mission Bay Cottage is a comfortable, yet stylish studio. It comes completely furnished with vinyl hardwood flooring and double paned windows. It is perfect for travelers looking to have their own personal space during their trip. It is private and quite and has many amenities to offer. Many of our guests don't want to leave!
The Cottage is a detached unit that comes with your own private entrance and garden setting. It is a single room or 'studio' and has French doors that open up into the Cottage. There are two beds. One is a memory foam queen size bed and the other is a premium full size futon that also doubles as a couch. The futon mattress has just been upgraded to a new memory foam mattress. It is super comfortable for both sitting and sleeping.
Cable TV and Wireless Internet are included at no extra cost.
There is a breakfast bar complete with bar stools and a table that can expand to give you more table top space. The kitchen is complete with a microwave, 2 electric burners, a large 'George Foreman' grill, a mini-refrigerator, toaster, small coffee maker, dishes and pots & pans as well as many other kitchen utensils. There is also and Iron and Ironing Board for those who need it.
In addition to the futon and the queen size bed, we do have one single-person fold out sleeper and a 'Pack-n-Play' for those who require unique sleeping arrangements.
The Cottage now boasts its newest feature... an electric fireplace that will heat the Cottage nicely and give you to opportunity to have a romantic evening in, or simply relax in its glow. The perfect ambiance for the perfect getaway! We also offer Air Conditioning for those warm summer days.
The Cottage comes complete with an alarm clock with soothing spa sounds or play the radio, the choice is yours!
Pet Policy: We do apologize, but we are unable to accept any pets at the Cottage at this time.
Smoking: There is absolutely no smoking of any kind inside the Cottage - no exceptions.
BEACH vs BAY... The Cottage is 1 block east of the 5 freeway. We are walking distance to Mission Bay and Fiesta Island. The Bay has grass, playgrounds, pavilions, and sand, but little or no waves. There is a sidewalk that will take you around the entire bay that will give you breathtaking views of the Bay as well as the beautiful houses and boats that line the walkway. The Bay is great for kids as there is plenty to do with plenty of bathrooms nearby. While the Bay is walking distance from the Cottage, the beaches are not. For those who wish to go to the beach, it is a short drive to Pacific Beach and Mission Beach... approx a 5 minute drive.
DEPOSITS: A deposit is required for any guests staying longer than 20 days. Please contact us for further details.
PARKING: There is plenty of street parking available.

Hello, my name is Doug and I was raised in Pasadena, CA.. I came to live in San Diego after high school. I graduated from USD with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Business. I am a commercial real estate agent at Capital Real Estate Ventures and got my start with Marcus and Millichap in August of 1997. I live with my wife, Kathy, and our 2 Labrador retrievers that I affectionately call my 'fur persons'.
Doug Fremdling purchased this cottage in 2006
When I saw this property, I loved the views and the Cottage in the backyard. The views included Mission Bay from the east, Downtown San Diego, southern La Jolla and Pt. Loma all from our front porch. During the 4th of July, we can see 5 different fireworks shows and in the summer we get the SeaWorld fireworks directly in front of our house.
The Cottage features a tranquil garden setting with colorful roses, winding pathways and a private entrance. The Entrance to the backyard is accessed from the side yard. The side gate opens with a security code. There are two sitting areas outside so you can soak up the sun. We have solar panels and our winding pathways are made from re-purposed concrete found all over our neighborhood. We do have two large Labrador retrievers that are extremely well behaved. They are both very sweet and very mellow dogs that have never given our guests any issues. Kids love them!
The MBC was perfect in location and needs for our stay in October! It was close to family we were visiting which was very important and centrally located to all that San Diego has to offer so we could enjoy day trips. The cottage itself had all the amenities we required. We were able to have some of our meals in rather than having to go out to restaurants; WIFI was spot on for days when I had to work; the patio outside afforded us the ability to sit and enjoy the sun during the day. The owners respected our privacy but were available had we needed their services. I would rent the Mission Bay Cottage again on a return trip!
It was me, my husband with our 3 kids (ages 6, 3, 2). Perfect little room with it all. Our kids shared the foldout futon at night. We brought a little foldable table which the kids used to eat when we did eat there, mostly quick breakfast items. We brought bagels w cream cheese and cereal. No tub which could be a deal breaker for families w lil ones but the shower head detaches so we had no problem at all. Overall stay was great for us.
My boyfriend and I arrived early and everything was already set up! Great hosts! Would definitely stay here again! Also the great view over looking mission bay from the back yard is a plus!
This property is really cute and quiet. The host is very nice also. He came out to meet us when we got there. The cottage has everything you need to have a great stay.
My two daughters (ages 7 and 10) and I stayed at Mission Bay Cottage for four nights. The location couldn't be beat: in moderate/heavy traffic it was still only 7-9 minutes by car to Sea World, 13-15 minutes to Mission Beach and Belmont Park and 16-18 minutes to Balboa Park and the San Diego zoo.The cottage had a private gate with plenty of free street parking. Finding a parking space was never a problem even on a Saturday night in the summer season. It was also hot so the air conditioning came in very handy in the late afternoon during our afternoon break. There are two comfortable beds (one a futon, the other a queen bed), a flatscreen tv, a small kitchenette area and a nicely remodeled bathroom with a shower. The only minor annoyance was the spotty Wifi inside the cottage which the owner apologized for and is trying to fix. If you are willing to sit outside on the patio, however, the internet is not a problem. Overall definitely a great value for the price! Highly recommended!
The cottage is both roomy and cozy. Plenty of room for 2 people to move around. There is also a pretty outdoor seating area. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood on a dead end street. No traffic noise at all, but it's close to everything. My husband and I watched the Sea World fireworks show every night from the front yard. It was kind of cool.
Doug was the perfect host, catering to our every need - which were few because the cottage has everything you need.
We'll try to book this place again next time we visit San Diego.
Thank you Doug and Kathy.
