“Moonlight” Cottage has a large front deck with Adirondack chairs and bistro table. Step inside to light colored ash hardwood floors, dark cabinets, white shell granite counter tops, 5 burner gas range, microwave and refrigerator with ice maker.
Cozy, comfortable living room looks out to a bar counter top and 55 inch curved 4K flat screen. Kitchen is fully stocked with 8 place settings, coffee maker, pots, pans, bake ware and other essentials.
There are two guest bedrooms, one with a full size iron bed and the other with a full size bunk bed with a trundle, both with flat screen TV's. The bathroom located in this cottage has a full size tub and shower.
Step out the back door to your own patio and sit around the table or BBQ on the new gas grill (yes we provide the propane). Additionally, your cottage has its own deck box filled with beach towels, 2 boogie boards, 2 beach chairs, an umbrella, sand toys, and a pull wagon to take it all down to the beach.
There is a community laundry room with 2 full sized modern washers and dryers. There you will find a variety of card and board games as well.
Easy access to 5 and 78 freeways. With Amtrak and Coaster station within walking distance, this truly is a Carlsbad Village Experience.

I purchased this property from a friend who had plans to develop it into condos, but loved the uniqueness of this amazing cottage compound and decided to bring the charm back. After fixing one after another up and many people stopping by to say how much they loved the property, I decided that sharing it was what I wanted to do and made them available as Vacation Rental.... Villagio Carlsbad Cottages. 7 individual cottages with private patios. Stay in one or multiple family can stay next to each other to be together and yet have their own space.

Loved the weather!!
The property can use an updated couch. But overall the time was awesome!
Super Cute Cottages, Close to everything
There were a couple cons, similar to what others have stated. So I'll start with those. The units could definitely use some a/c! We brought our 4 daughters & they all woke up several times sweating & couldn't sleep. We are from Arizona, it's 118 as I'm typing this, so we are used to heat... but it's very humid in the unit. One morning the girls woke up at 5:30, checked the weather on their phone & humidity was 85%. We kept the windows open the first day & when we got back from the beach there were ants in the kids room & all over our daughters clothes. Luckily they have a washer & dryer onsite, which was awesome! Secondly, there is a very loud train close by that runs all the time. But if the units had a/c, the windows could be kept closed & that would resolve that issue.
Now for the pros... the Cottages are adorable!! Even thought they're small, they are very nice inside. Everything is within walking distance. The beach, & lots of restaurants & shops! Everywhere we went to eat was really good!! The only time we left in our car was to drive to the Carlsbad outlets, which was a 6 minute drive. Washer & dryer on site was awesome!!! So we didn't have to take any sandy, dirty clothes home. Owners are quick to respond & very helpful. Overall, we had a great stay. Our girls had a blast. We spent most of our time at the beach or at the shops/restaurants.
The pros outweigh the cons & we would definitely stay again!! If they got a/c units we would book a longer trip.

Adorable Cottage w All the Amenities!
Pros:
The decor and the furniture were adorable and every space was used efficiently to make the most of a small space. The landscaping around the cottage is ADORABLE!
We loved the location (so close to the beach - which is beautiful - and the town and only a 9 minute drive to legoland). There was also an adorable little farmers market that happens every Wednesday. You can see it from the entrance to the cottages!
There's a grill, a really nice community laundry room, a small deck to sit on, beach toys, a tv in each room, each set up w netflix, games, etc. we also found olive oil, coffee, laundry detergent, ketchup and mustard already on hand!
Any questions were answered within minutes via the Home Away app.
Cons:
It was definitely smaller than it looked in the photos. But we made it work!
It was SO hot at night. There were ceiling fans in each room and additional large fans, and we had the windows open, but we were all sweating throughout the night every night. I'm not sure what can be done about this but it would have to change for us to go back.
Noise. The train really didn't bother us, we like the sound of trains! But there was a dump truck that ran around 6am on two mornings that woke up our kids and the baby). And then there was a jackhammer and a tractor working on the street right outside our kitchen window that started at 7am one morning and was there digging and drilling and beeping til we left around 930.
Overall we loved this trip to Carlsbad. We plan to come back every year now! This cottage is adorable, and if the heat situation can be fixed, we'd be up for staying here again.
Very well located to every place we were wanting to go.
We had a great stay. Nice condo. We had just about everything we needed to cook a meal, everything but the food. LOL. We had two small grandchildren with us, and the nice enclosed patio was much appreciated. Gave us a safe and secure place for them to hang out. Walking to the beach was perfect even for this old lady. Found plenty of restaurants and shopping when desired. Hope to definitely stay there again in the future.
Location is great and the cottages are very nice
We stayed at the Moonlight cottage in February and were very happy with the experience. Everything you need, comfortable bed and linens, complimentary washer and dryer, even the detergent is furnished. We walked each morning along the beach so being able to wash work out clothes is a plus. As has been stated in other reviews, there is no dining table to sit at, and the living area is very small, but we were all out enjoying the porch. Since we were there in February the tourist season had not yet begun, so the beer place nearby didn't present any problems. Parking also was not hard, again there was always a spot either in the designated area, or on the street out front. This would be a perfect place for members of the same family to have their own little cottage and a common area to gather in. The owner was especially accommodating, as we had to postpone our reservation from the fall of 2016 and he was happy to allow us to rebook.
