This unique property is a two bedroom, single-family dwelling with a 2 bedroom cottage next door. It is fenced in on three sides and one block from the ocean. The large lanai is a great place for your morning coffee and a good book. In the evenings enjoy a barbecue and a quiet evening. The trees shade the property and the trade winds keep things cool.
We also have a 2 bedroom cottage, 3 bedroom house and a studio on an adjacent property. Groups traveling together can have their privacy by renting separate places, but enjoy the close proximity of being together.
This property is very close to restaurants, the post office, grocery stores, shops, and the bus stop. This cozy two bedroom home will meet all your expectations of wanting to get away from it all, but still being close enough to walk to everything.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
After years of long term renters we remodeled this house and wanted to allow visitors and Hawaii residents a home away from home to vacation, put their family and sometimes just to get away.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This property is very unique. It is tucked back from the street with 7 acres of undeveloped land next door. It is only 1000 ft. from the ocean so you can sometimes hear the ocean. You do have to go back out to the street and walk around the corner to actually get to the beach. The nearest beach is not crowded and is awesome for morning walks and sunsets. There is a reef and tidepools during low tide to explore and look for small ocean creatures. There is a large grassy area above the sand with numerous palm trees which makes an amazing backdrop for photos.
Kamaole 1, 2 and 3 all have life guards and are good beaches for wave riding.

Don and Joy moved to Maui in 1981. We bought a one acre parcel in 1985 and built this house in 1986. We subdivided the property into 4 different parcels, so there are additional houses on the entire one acre. Most are rented out as vacation rentals. We live in one of the houses and are available to assist you to make your vacation the perfect vacation.
We have 3 children who were raised on Maui. Our oldest son Aaron lives in Washington State with his wife Juliet and son Kingston. Our second son Justin lives in Slovenia and is a pastor of Calvary Chapel Celje, Slovenia with his wife Erin. Our youngest daughter Rebecca lives in one of our cottages with her husband Kit and daughter Ivy.

Once again we enjoyed our time at "Hale Mohalu" the Affordable Maui Vacation Rental owned by Don & Joy Gerry. We always enjoy the peaceful setting and spotless cottages. As our family grows we have no trouble fitting into the 3 bedroom home that they offer. I would highly recommend this Place and have referred many friends there. See you next year.

This place is so relaxing and enjoyable. We didn't do much but read and relax which was so needed. We love staying here, it feels like home. The furniture especially the couch-reminds me of the one my parents brought home with them after we moved from Oahu when I was 7 years old. My parents had it for many years. We love telling people about this place. Thank you so much

This trip was my second stay in this cottage (5 weeks total) and it is the only place I stay when I visit Maui. The cottage has everything you need - including a great lanai (porch) to relax on, full kitchen for cooking meals, washer and dryer, it is comfortable and clean, close to everywhere you'll want to be and the owners are fantastic!

THIS WAS A PERFECT PLACE TO STAY. IT WAS CLEAN, QUIET, PEACEFUL, AND HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. WE HAD PEACOCKS COME BY EVERYDAY TO LAY IN THE SHADE WHILE WE SAT ON THE LARGE DECK READING AND RELAXING. THE PRICE IS VERY REASONABLE FOR WHAT YOU GET, TOO.

Perfect place to stay to participate in the Maui Extera triathalon. Next year we will be back. The place had everything we needed, plus more. It was clean, newly redone and decorated nicely.
