Great family Easter vacation

We had such a great weekend at this quaint, comfortable riverside cabin on our Easter break! Our weather was a little on the cool side, but this cabin has a great fireplace and outdoor firepit that helped keep us warm and cozy. We took short drives daily and enjoyed several waterfalls and brisk mountain hikes and our kids loved rock-hopping in the streams. Despite the frigid water temperatures, 2 of my boys (ages 8 and 10) grabbed some tubes and life-jackets and floated down the South Toe River just a few yards form the cabin (several times)! Brrrrrrrr! Good thing I had that fireplace going. We had such a pleasant time and so appreciated all the help and the kind replies from the owner who obviously cares about the enjoyment of his guests. We would highly recommend this great get-a-away spot to anyone seeking a quiet "never-leave-the-cabin" retreat or those who want a great place to launch an adventure-filled mountain trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was very relaxing getaway. The cabin was clean and nicely stocked. Very secluded but not too far from town and a short drive to Mt. Mitchell. Enjoyed the sound of the river from the front porch. Looking forward to going back in the summer.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a small last minute opening to fit in a mini vacation this past July and called the owner and got in the cabin that afternoon! We didn't know what to expect and didnt take the owner seriously when he said we only needed to bring food. Guess what.... We only needed to bring food! They really thought of everything and that alone was wonderful. Gorgeous little cabin hidden away from the world, just perfect. Getting to bring our dog along was a huge bonus. This cabin is all that it says and more. Great place to stay, highly recommend!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This was the perfect getaway for our family. We all enjoyed playing in the river, especially our boys (ages 14 and 11) and dog. Mom enjoyed relaxing on the porch swing with a good book and we all had fun learning to kayak (kayaks provided by the owner) and roasting marshmallows on the fire, each night. There are very few neighbors so we had complete privacy. We left the windows open at night so we could enjoy the cool mountain air and listen to the river. We've never slept more soundly.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family of 5 stayed in this beautiful house for a long weekend stay. We really enjoyed the kayaks, the fire pit, the river, collecting rocks, finding the hidden beaches along the river, making a fire and roasting popcorn, grilling out, going to sleep with the windows open to hear the sounds of the river rushing by and just being in the beautiful and clean cabin. The cabin was equipped with everything you could possibly need for a mountain stay. This really was a getaway for us from the hustle and bustle of everyday activities. No one wanted to leave, especially the dog..we had to drag him to the car on our way out :) We really want to come back to this cabin, maybe in the fall when the leaves are turning!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
