Hale Kona Kai is a small, quiet, well-kept, complex within easy walking distance of Kona’s downtown. It’s about the closest you can get to the ocean unless you are surfing.

Our unit, #202 is on the south end of the building providing additional privacy away from the pool and away from the other wing. All of Hale Kona Kai’s 39 units are one-bedroom and non-smoking, with easy high-speed, Wi-Fi access. Its proximity to the ocean makes it a wonderful place to kick back with a cool drink and enjoy nature’s many offerings ocean side. If cooking doesn't feel like a holiday there are more than two dozen restaurants to choose from within walking distance and many more a short drive away.

Begin your day with breakfast on the lanai, watching the school of spinner dolphins swimming by, putting on a fanciful show. Looking south you can watch the early morning local surfers. If you are there at lunchtime you will likely watch sea turtles sunning themselves on the rocks just feet below our lanai, and no one wants to miss the romantic sunsets from your unobstructed view. You will never tire of the beautiful dynamic scenery throughout the day.

This unit was fully renovated stem to stern in May 2007 and boasts of a comfortable new king-sized bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, fresh paint, and new appliances. It is tastefully decorated in the “spirit of aloha” and ready for your enjoyment with all the comforts of home. The building has a heated pool, reserved parking, an elevator and on-site coin laundry facilities.

There is so much to do on The Big Island. Here is a small list: swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, snorkeling, golfing, hiking, kayaking, walking, whale watching, scuba diving, biking, shopping, dining and more. There is also great bird watching, botanic gardens and waterfalls to see, and don’t forget the many Hawaiian sacred sites. If you’ve ever thought you’d like to get close up and personal to volcanic action this is your island! The Big Island has a little something for everyone.

The only thing you will ask when your stay is over is when can you return.

    • We very much enjoyed our stay in unit 202! It is a perfect location for short walks into town & a good base point for visits to other areas of the island. We have come to the Big Island several times & this is the best Kona location we have stayed in. The condo had everything we needed - including plastic wrap to store your leftovers or half grapefruit, papaya, etc. We appreciated the small cooler to pack water, snacks, etc. for the longer day trips & were also glad for the beach towels. The lanai was perfect for breakfast in the morning, afternoon relaxing cocktail or dinner in. (we don't need to eat out every night, especially after a long day, grab some Killer Tacos & all set). Loved the place. Will definitely consider coming back next time we come to Kona. Very quiet, no street noise or neighbor noise.

    • This is a fantastic place to stay. We walked to the farmers market and coffee shop each morning and returned with our goodies to enjoy on the lani. Decor was perfect and many additional beach items were provided. The building is definitely showing its age but so are many of the condos in this area. All the pieces worked so it did not bother us other than the low shower head which my 6’4 husband probably wasn’t fond of. The kitchen had all the necessary pieces to cook delicious dinners which we once again enjoyed on the lani. (We did venture out of the condo but I can't say enough good things about the lani and the view). We saw dolphins spinning and flopping their way up and down the coast. Dinner and a show! This place is on its own road off Alii Dr so you don’t get the road noise that some places have. We would highly recommend this place.

    • I just wanted to let you know much we enjoyed the condo. It had everything that we needed plus was nice, clean, and comfortable.  It's such a great location for walking to town; restaurants, shops. and the Farmers Market.  I think we spent 1/2 our time sitting on the lanai watching the water with the cruise ships, Para sailors, kayakers, etc..  There's nothing better then listening to the ocean at night while falling asleep.
