Accommodations:  Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

Our cabin is nestled on the side of a mountain and is surrounded by large old trees and stone walls. It is one of the closest rentals to the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Beautiful views will be found from the porches and as you stroll along the winding road. There are many activities nearby or you may choose to relax and unwind in our swing, rocking chairs or hot tub. Watching the birds and chipmunks, while sipping morning coffee, is one of our favorite things to do. Another favorite is our campfire. It's a great place to relax and tell stories.

Our close proximity to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, the Nantahala River and Bryson City has many benefits, including quick access to whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking & biking trails, restaurants, a general store, an outfitters store, bike rentals and convenient access to the best attractions the Smoky Mountains has to offer.

The cabin has two bedrooms (one queen/one full) and a bath downstairs. The sleeping loft has four beds and a bath. A very cozy cabin indeed.

Stonewood Cabin has character, convenience and charm. Come for a weekend or an extended stay.

The Bryson City area is home to much of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including its highest peak, Clingmans Dome. Nearby is the Nantahala River, one of the nation's most popular rivers for whitewater rafting, kayaking and trout fishing. Fontana Lake, with the highest dam east of the Rockies, Santeetlah Lake and Nantahala Lake offer many boating and fishing activities. You'll find cascading trout streams, biking and hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail, the Bartram Trail and the Tsali Recreation Area. There are beautiful mountain roadways, including the southern leg of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the curvy "Tail of the Dragon" at Deal's Gap. You can ride a historic steam-powered train or mine for gems. You can experience the rich cultural heritage of the Cherokee Indians. This central location offers an endless array of day trips to nearby Asheville, Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, Joyce Kilmer Forest, Cherohala Skyway, Chimney Rock and dozens of small towns and back roads.

  • Our daughter is working at the Nantahala Outdoor Center for the 2007 season and we wanted accomodations closeby. Stonewood Cabin was perfect! We were so excited to find such a cozy and comfortable cabin nestled on the side of the mountain just above the beautiful NOC! Stonewood Cabin had every amenity we needed...plenty of beds; a fully equipped kitchen (I only packed my favorite iron skillet); great porches with rockers and a swing; a hot tub; and many other thoughtful amenities. We had morning coffee on the porches while watching birds, squirrels and chipmunks raid the feeders. We cooked morning and evening meals in the well equipped kitchen. We sat on the porch at the "golden hour" watching the soft glow of yellows and greens filter through the leaves as the mountain swallowed the blaze of colors at sundown. We've not felt such peace and relaxation in a very long time. Most of all....we felt very much at home at Stonewood Cabin. Our stay was indeed perfect! Oh....I even rafted the Nantahala with my daughter! We made many wonderful and unforgettable memories Memorial Day Weekend, 2007, and have started planning our next visit! It will definitely include Stonewood Cabin! Thanks again for sharing Stonewood Cabin with us!

  • We just got back and wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at the cottage. I have been to the smokies many time, but this has to be some of the most beautiful scenery so far. There is so much to do within driving distance you never get bored. We toured the smokies, Gatlinburg, pigeon forge, Fontana Dam, drove The Dragons Tail (US129) and rafting at the NOC. The cottage had everything we needed and plenty of room for the eight of us. We specially enjoyed the hot tub in the late evening and the porch in the early morning. Thanks again for letting us use your mountain cottage; with so much to do I am sure we will be returning very soon. Manny & Family, Coral Springs, Fl.

    2003 was a good year at the cottage. So many guests brought family or friends and enjoyed the activities of the area. With room to sleep 10 the cottage allowed two familys to share the expense and enjoy a vacation. Some guest brought three generations together for a family vacation to remember.

  • We had a great time at this adorable cabin. It is very roomy and comfortable.It is so close to everything. We went to Fontanna Lake, we rafted down the Nantahala and the Tuskaseegee Rivers. We also enjoyed the Tsali Bike Trail and even went to the Biltmore House. It is a great cabin!!!
