  • Nice

"My 13 year old daughter and I stayed 4 nights over Spring Break. I wish we could have stayed longer. Cuneen made the stay seemless. The unit has everything you could need (beach towels, sunscreen, kitchen supplies, etc.). My daughter loved the loft. It has a porch off the bedroom and another off the living room. It overlooks the cluster pool. Except for birds and frogs, the place is very quiet. Usually we were the only people in the pool. There is easy acess to the beach and beach pool and we often had those to ourselves also. There are lots of great restaurants nearby. This is a great base for activities. El Yunque entrance is just across the highway. The ferry terminal for Culebra is a short drive. The bio-bay kayak tours are close. The food koisks are just down the road. If you don't feel like going off the resort there are restaurants, ice cream, bars and a casino down the hill in the hotel. We only used the ac at night, the breeze kept it cool most of the time. The second bathroom, was out front and was very clean, but we didn't need it. The beach near the pool has chairs and a small bar (open on weekends), but feels very private. We are already making plans to return with my wife and other daughter."

  • Paradise Found!

"My family and our friends (a total party of 4 adults and 2 children) just returned from Villa La Recompense and we all agree that we feel like we had a vacation in paradise. Everything was perfect - the villa really feels like a lovely home away from home. We loved the little beach that is right nearby and has good snorkeling (and is very quiet) - and couldn't believe what a short walk it was. Some unexpected visitors to the property included turtles and lizards and brightly colored birds - which delighted everyone. We became regulars of the patisserie (which is fabulous). We also loved the little fish stand just down the road that sells fresh fish in the morning - we bought gorgeous strawberry grouper and some lobsters and had a feast! The kitchen is very well stocked and the whole home is so open and has such great views and lovely gardens that there are many places to either gather with friends for a glass of wine, relax with a book, play a game of clue . . . I couldn't more highly recommend a place to stay. We will definitely return and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else."

  • Great view, facility, will be back.

"This unit is great. We stayed a week and had the good pleasure of waking up to its gorgeous view each morning, seeing a great sunset each night. I have no reservations recommending the unit to anyone, although admit it has some minor defects that can be easily ignored. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, pans, and utensils, and there are some pool toys and noodles for kids. The large grocery store (Kirks) is a half mile away .. it has 95% of the same stuff you'd find at a large US grocery. One Cayman tip is .. there's really no need to get Cayman currency. Everyone takes USD or credit cards. The TV in the picture above has been upgraded, and is now a HD flat screen with cable TV. The wi-fi worked perfectly and was fast enough for video and Skype. The A/C worked well, although the thermostat is a little touchy and needs attention. One thing to note, this unit is part of the Sunset Cove condo complex, so don't get freaked out if you read horrible reviews of the former name: Treasure Island. The condo complex and resort are next to eachother, and you can walk to the TI resort lobby, but they are generally very separate. Sunset Cove's pool is great, especially for kids, as there's a large area that's shallow enough for kids to touch, not to mention an additional kiddie pool. In the week were there, the pool was nearly empty all day, every day. Zero problem getting a chair at the pool or on the beach, there were dozens empty. Not to say the place was deserted, but it was clearly half empty, which was nice. In front of the condo is a protected cove, and the snorkeling was decent. We did go on a Stingray City tour that dropped us at a reef for a while, and frankly, the snorkeling in the cove was just as good. Also to note, I don't recall seeing a single insect, so having this gorgeous patio (without screens) worked out really well."

  • Perfect vacation rental!

"My wife and I stayed at Eamon's vacation rental in Sapphire Village for one week in mid August, 2014. Sapphire Village is a resort, located just minutes from Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie. The location is absolutely superb whether you want to relax at the resort which features two pools, a bar/grill pub style restaurant, a marina, and a beach, all within minutes walking distance. If you don't want to stay on the resort, I recommend you rent a vehicle; you can get anywhere on the island within an hour drive, allowing you to visit all the beautiful beaches. One thing to note is that the resort is built on a giant hill, so if you go to the beach, be prepared to hike back up that hill! The rental itself was perfect for the two of us. Unlike some properties listed on VRBO, Eamon's place is *exactly* as pictured. The unit was very clean when we arrived and had no bugs. The unit includes a full (small) kitchen, so cooking meals is very easy to do, and much cheaper than eating out several times a day. However, the grocery stores (Cost-U-Less, Walgreens, K-Mart, and Food Center) are all about 15 minutes away, so you'll have to plan accordingly. The rental is also well stocked with items for activities, including a small library of books (including a *very* useful Frommer's guide to the Virgin Islands), and snorkel gear. We had brought our own masks and snorkels, but being able to borrow fins for free was a very generous and unexpected perk! While visiting, we were able to visit Magens Bay, Hull Bay, Sapphire Beach, Coki Beach, Lindquist Bay, Turtle Cove (Buck Island) and Bolongo Bay. Of those, our favorite local snorkel destination was Coki Beach, the water was beautiful and the reefs were plentiful; however, Lindquist, Sapphire, Hull, and Turtle Cove were very close runners up. Many beaches offer water sport rentals (snorkel sets, kayaks, stand-up-paddle board, etc.), but Bolongo Bay was the only location that rented small sailboats (Hobie Catamarans). I rated this rental with 5 stars because it truly met or exceeded all our expectations, and Eamon (and Alice, the property manager) were both very helpful. We would recommend this rental to anyone considering visiting the island."
