This was my 2nd time staying at the hideaway, and my husband's first time staying. We went for our honeymoon. I was a little worried that my city-born new husband would find the property a little bit too private for his liking, but I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he LOVED it! We enjoyed evenings on the private wrap-around patio; listening to music while barbequing, playing cards and dominoes. We enjoyed the wonderful outdoor shower; very romantic and water temperature was perfect. My husband made friends with one of the birds in the trees...they would often engage in early morning conversation, while I laughed. Cherrill and Jim provided us with all the staple amenities to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable; dishes, pots/pans, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot. Plush towels and linens, and for our excursions; a cooler, beach chairs/towels/mats, boogie board, etc. We even were able to log on to our Facebook with the provided Wi-Fi, and share our honeymoon pics with friends and family, as it was happening! We found it VERY difficult to leave, and are anxiously awaiting our next visit. We HIGHLY recommend this cottage for your Kauai getaway! Thanks a million Cherrill and Jim. Love always, Danielle & KenRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Exactly as described in the listing as well as in the reviews. In the cottage there is a journal with pages and pages and PAGES of people raving about staying at the Jungle River Hideaway. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and had THE most relaxing time of our lives. This was the absolute most perfect place for us. It truly is enchanting. There is no way I would ever stay in a hotel in Hawaii after this experience. There is nothing like this cottage. I cannot wait to come back. Cherril & Jim - Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us have the most perfect honeymoon. We loved this place! Jim and Cherril provide everything you could need (beach chairs, mats, natural and deet containing bug spray, etc etc) and are so friendly and hospitable. This place is easy to find and get to with a small rental car (no Jeep needed!) but fells secluded at the same time. You can hear the sounds of nature outside throughout the day and night. This place has a tin roof and it rains almost every night so use the earplugs they provide!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We spent 19 wonderful days in the Jungle River Hideaway in May 2012. Beautifully decorated and fully equipped, this is the perfect spot for an extended stay. The location is ideal for access to Hanalei and all the best north shore beaches. Jim and Cherril are wonderful, helpful hosts. We can't recommend this lovely cottage enough!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We love this place. Our own private cottage in the middle of pal trees, ferns and exotic flowers. Lulled to sleep with rain falling on the roof. Loved the lanai that could seat 10 people easily. Skip spent all his relaxing time in the hammock. Hearing the river and amazing bird songs was just perfect. Loved being so near Ke'e Beach and Haena beach. Simple to run into Hanalei, or to head south. Cherril and Jim provided everything you could want - full kitchen, outdoor soaking tub, welcome bottle of wine, coolers, snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach towels - and the list goes on. Great to buy papaya, mango and pineapple at the local farmer's market and then have them for breakfast on lanai!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

The pictures of this place can't convey how beautiful and authentic this cottage is. The big lanai was our favorite place to hang out, it's like bringing nature into your living room. You truly feel like you are in Hawaii. The cottage is very private. romantic, and incredibly relaxing. Jim and Cherril have thought of absolutely everything you could need and decorated the place beautifully. When returning in the evenings, it feels like coming home, including having the lights turned on for us when we forgot to leave one on. Jim and Cherril are very gracious and are full of helpful tips and suggestions when asked. We absolutely can't say enough about how much we enjoyed staying at the Jungle River Hideway and would definitely stay here again!!!!!! Mahalo Jim and Cherril!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I traveled to Kauai for a belated honeymoon. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. The location is tucked away and private, a perfect secluded place for love birds. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower and huge lanai. Cheryl and her husband have thought of every detail all the way down to the beach gear that they provide. We were able to enjoy free snorkeling every day of our trip which was one of our favorite activities. We would highly recommend "A Jungle River Hideaway"Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

I spent months searching the internet for a place to stay while visiting Kaua'i and I booked the Jungle River Hideaway after reading rave reviews. We pulled into the drive after long flights from the mainland, and as we walked up the path to the cottage, I knew we made the right choice. Cherrill and Jim have thought of everything! From coolers, beach chairs, snorkels, boogie boards, Kaua'i coffee and my favorite, the outdoor shower, there is something for everyone to enjoy! They provided bug spray and mosquito coils, which I was very thankful for, as it is the jungle! The rushing river can be seen and heard from the cottage, and you are invited to swim but it is cold from what we were told. We didn't have a chance to try it as we wanted to explore the beaches instead. We cooked Kaua'i beef on the grill one night, were able to do laundry, and felt perfectly at home relaxing in the hammock on the lanai. There is no A/C but the screen doors and fans provide plenty of ventilation. The bed is extremely comfortable and the whole cottage is tastefully decorated. Cherril & Jim give you complete privacy, but are available for any recommendations you need. It's quite impressive to realize that Jim did most of the construction on the property!! They both exude the spirit of Aloha and I couldn't recommend this Jungle Hideaway enough. Save yourself time and money and book this ohana immediately - you won't be disappointed, we sure weren't!! We will definitely visit Kaua'i again, and when we do, we will be staying at the Jungle River Hideaway. Aloha!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

I love this Jungle Hideaway, it's exactly as it says. We loved being in the northside of the island. This home has everything we needed, coffee pot, stove, a grill, refrigerator, beach chairs, snorkel gear and fins, beach unbrella! I loved that all we need to bring was our groceries and a rental car. Cherill and Jim even provided us with bug spray, shampoo, conditioner and soap! We completely forgot to pack it. We really enjoyed their stereo and the cds they provided. Hawaiian music in the morning while we get ready and FREE WIFI! I love that part the most. But I did come here to relax, so the other tip is that it's really close to the best beaches. Ke's, Tunnels, Lumaha'I Beach. Hanelei is the cutest town ever and Princeville is not far. Driving to Kapa'a is about 40 mins, but worth the trip and it's about 1 hour from the airport. Note: Must love sleeping to rain. Northside is beautiful and lush and rains a lot, we were lucky that it only rained once we got home around 10 p.m. Great little restaurants all around Hanelei. Java Kai, Dolphin, Tahiti Nuhi, Mediterranean Gourmet, just to name a few. The host is great on tips for Farmer Markets through out the week! Unfortunately we missed it, but I hear it's great! Worth our amazing 8 days 7 nights here in September. Thank you for making it home away from home Cherill and Jim!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Aloha - Skip and I stayed at the Jungle River Hideaway for a week in mid-June 2010 and we wish we could have stayed for a month. We loved the calm tropical seclusion of the cottage, yet the beaches and Hanalei were just minutes away. The cottage was just lovely and the lanai was like having a large outdoor living room. Cherril decorated it so beautifully and we loved the lanterns and comfortable chairs and couches. Well actually I loved them, Skip loved the hammock! The kitchen had everything we could possibly want! The river was brisk and cold, the flowers were breathtaking and the kindness of Cherril and Jim incomparable. Yes, we LOVED it!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
