On the lush north shore of Kauai, also known as the Garden Isle, sits a tropical paradise called Mauna Kai. We have been blessed with this fully furnished three bedroom two bath condo, located in the most desirable location on this property. The second story living / kitchen area looks on to some of the most majestic mountain views and flowing waterfalls on Kauai. The mountains are the back drop to the pool. The pool has a large gazebo with barbecue, sink and refrigerator.
This 3/2 condo has most everything one could want in a vacation home away from home. This includes a fully furnished kitchen with solid granite counter tops, dishwasher, free stand Kitchen Aid mixer, food processor, pots, pans and more. Linens for the king, queen beds and bunk beds as well as both bathrooms are also provided. Full sized beach towels are provided also.
Mauna Kai is situated between two of the most beautiful golf courses in the entire State; the Prince course and Makai course.
The unit is a leisurely ten minute walk to the fantastic Westin Resort, a wonderful place to enjoy food, a cool tropical drink and incredible views overlooking the Pacific ocean and Anini beach. The Westin is also a good place to whale watch during the months of January to April.
There is a trail you can walk down leading down to Anini Beach which is located at the end of Wyllie Road near the Westin Resort. For some, the short 10 minute drive to Anini beach may be a better choice, especially if you want to take along beach equipment. We have supplied some beach things such as beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, a beach umbrella and a cooler; all located in the front entrance closet.
For the best views for watching the sunset drop behind the famous Bali Hai, you are located just two miles from the St. Regis Hotel. The “Living Room” of the St. Regis over looks all of Hanalei Bay and is an experience which will not be forgotten.
Shopping is within walking distance at the Princeville Shopping Center with a grocery store, post office, shops and several different restaurants. Whatever reason brings you to the Princeville Shopping Center, a stop at Lappert’s Ice cream in a must!
For those who want a small sample of some of Kauai’s most beautiful scenery then take the drive to the quaint little town of Hanalei. This short drive will take you by the well worth stop of the Hanalei scenic overlook where below you will find the patchwork of taro fields. On down the hill please remember when you get to the one way bridges, local custom is to let five cars pass one way then five cars the other. The locals will think you are Ka’maaina.
Hanalei is the quintessential town one might think of when dreaming of the perfect tropical town. It offers many local shops and the most fun dining experiences for the vegan to the carnivore. Hanalei can also be seen as the starting point for one of the most spectacular drives on the north shore.
Heading towards Haena will take you by the largest reef in Hawaii. The beach is called Tunnels and the reef is large enough to be seen from space. While sitting on the beach after a swim, look over your left shoulder at the steep tropical mountain side with a waterfall situated in just the perfect spot close to the top. Even after thirty years of living in Hawaii, when standing there I can’t help but think of the fact that “I’m actually here.” For the beach goer, this is one of many experiences which well never be forgotten. As you may expect, this is a good day trip in itself.
On the way to Ke’e (pronounced Ka'a) be sure to stop at the Dry Cave. Don’t just look in! The experience of walking to the back of the cave is well worth the effort. If you plan to make it all the way to Ke’e, leave early!! Parking maybe a challenge.
Upon arriving at the end of the road you have arrived at Ke’e beach and after you have laid claim to your spot on the beach, grab your camera and keep walking to the right for about 15 minutes until you get to the small curve in the beach. While standing on the point, turn around and you will see the most breathtaking unforgettable view of the beautiful Na Pali coastline!
