About Cheri for Daybreak Cottage
John is a 'many generation Mainer' ( Civil War land grant)and has always dreamed of having a 'salt-water farm'. We acquired 5.5acres on the bay 27. ago and were finally able to move here in 2001.He calls it 'paradise', and his many fruit trees attest to that. I like the flowers and he does the veggies and fruits. The yard is a good size for kids to be safe and able to run around. We have a resident horse named Mirage, Raj for short, who is friendly and likes an occasional carrot or apple. We also have 12 laying hens who gift us daily with the BEST tasting eggs ever! A swing set is waiting for the little ones. The family rounds out with our Jack Russell ROSY and Australian Shepherd MATTIE (Matilda Belle) We have lived in Maine for 50 years, previously the Bangor area. John has recently retired from an embroidery and garment decorating business and I am a retired R.N.and Polarity therapist. We also have a restored John Alden wooden sailboat which moors out front. We also have a mooring available if needed.

Why Cheri for Daybreak Cottage chose Surry
We chose Newbury Neck for it's beauty and quiet. Surry Village is surrounded by small Maine towns with much charm- you'll love exploring them or not !
What makes this Cottage unique
The view accross to the Acadia mountains is stunning and ever-changing as the sun rises and sets each day, always an awesome scene, very therapeutic.

Lovely Family Home
Such a very nice place for a family to gather, our stay was brief and we spent a lot of time over at Acadia which was just beautiful and only a 35 minute drive. My son who is a photographer took some incredible pictures of the night sky from the yard, just amazing!!! Also love the grand view of the mountains and ocean. This home definitely is suitable for a small or large group with all the amenities you need, plenty of room inside and beautiful grounds outside. We were welcomed by the owner who lives nearby who was very sweet. Would definitely love to come back with our whole family to truly enjoy all this property has to offer. Thank you for a most relaxing stay.
Cozy Maine Cottage on the Bay
Vacationing in Maine is awesome. We were looking for a quaint, cozy waterfront cottage and found it. Our hosts, Liz and John, were very welcoming and we appreciate them sharing their little bit of (heaven) Maine with us. We were able to enjoy walks on the beach, campfire and smores at night, fresh picked peaches and exploring Acadia and surrounding areas and of course eating fresh lobster. Because we are "seniors" one little drawback was the stairs. The bedrooms are on the second and third stories but they were very lovely and the beds extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed to prepare meals in-house or bar-b-que on the deck and the three baths helped with bathroom congestion in the mornings. Overall, a great place to spend some time in Maine sitting on the deck early in the morning with a hot cup of coffee or later in the evening around a campfire. For the outdoor enthusiasts, a good base camp for exploring the beauty of Maine. Thanks, again, Liz and John, you are perfect hosts.
The location is beautiful. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed and more. Just wish we had more time to enjoy it. Highly recommended and hope we can make it back again.
We would LOVE to have you again!!
Fun talking and laughing with you !!
Hard to imagine a more peaceful, enjoyable setting
From the spacious rooms to the breathtaking view, especially at sunrise, to the fruit trees and small farm, and the peaceful ocean waters, this home quickly takes your breath away and sets you up for relaxation or full action. Perfect for families woth small children. Great for a romantic getaway.
It is especially gratifying for us to see families with young children enjoy the space here at Daybreak. Parents seem to relax a bit more when they know the kids are safe in a large yard.
Great Maine Vacation
We loved everything about staying at DayBreak Cottage.
We loved our stay in Surry. While it is a bit away from Acadia, it is close enough to plan out day trips and far enough to enjoy nice, quiet time away from the crowds. Biking to Perry's Lobster is a real treat -- both for eat-in or take-out. It was a great spot -- we highly recommend it!
