Our lake home is a quaint cottage directly on a small lake in Spencer, Massachusetts. The lake (Sugden Reservoir) is small but fully recreational. We have a small sandy beach that is perfect for children, and the older kids love the swim raft. Kayaking is one of our favorite activities - we have one double and two single kayaks.
The house is relaxed and comfortable, not fancy but nicely decorated and it has most amenities you would find at your own house. Downstairs the kitchen, dining room and living room are all one open space in an L shape. The kitchen and downstairs bath are newly remodeled. The dining table seats 8 to 10 people comfortably. The living room is spacious and includes a large flat screen TV with DVD player, and a remote control gas 'wood stove'.
Upstairs the three bedrooms include a king bed, a queen bed and a bunk bed (twin over full).
Property Details: There is a full bath upstairs, and a huge game room with ping pong, foosball, full size air hockey table, bumper pool, dart board, stick hockey table, board games, TV with VCR, puzzles, toys and more. Great for those rainy days, or when you need a break from the sun!
We have wireless high speed internet at the house, but you need to bring your own computer, and there is no phone service at the house, so you will also need to bring your cell phone. I have Verizon and my husband has Sprint, and the service signal (for those two providers at least) is excellent - full bar coverage.
There's always something to do here - in the house, on the lake or at nearby attractions such as Old Sturbridge Village or Moore State Park. It is a very rural area, but we are also very close to Worcester, where you will find an art museum, fine arts theatre, shopping and more.
Nearby Attractions: We are also only 20 miles from the Brimfield Antiques fair. We are 40 minutes from Wachusett Mountain Ski Area, and also 35 minutes from Davis' Farmland and MegaMaze. A snowmobile trail goes right by our house across the lake. It is a great place for a fun and relaxing getaway any time of the year!

This house is amazing, quiet, with a nice backyard and all the equipment you will need ( except a dishwasher). The lake is really nice and you will have access to boat and a lot of games for outdoor and indoor. REALLY FAMILY FRIENDLY, we went with babies and a 4 years old child, that was a paradise for them, and also for the adults with a nice game room, full of surprises.Owner response: We are so happy to hear you and your family enjoyed the house and had a great stay. The only place we've rented that I didn't have to spend the first 3 days cleaning! It's all that is promised and more. Though it's snowy and cold outside it's lovely and comfortable inside.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The lake house was a great week. My co-workers and I stayed in this lake house while working in Worcester. The host, Linda, provided us with alternate directions to travel to/from work. The amenities were great and the location was very relaxing and comfortable. Linda and Family - We had a fabulous time, AGAIN! We can't say enough about your wonderful lake home. A five star hotel in any resort could not have thought of all the amenties you provide with this property. (Especially with our four generation family!) When we asked the granddaughters what was the worst part about our vacation at the Davis Lake House and our 12 year old granddaughter answered, "Leaving." We all agreed!! Memories are so important in life and we made many during our week at this beautiful lake house celebrating my husband's birthday. We felt so comfortable and at home. It was obvious that we were at someone's lake home not at just a lake house rental property. The pictures and descriptions are accurate. The house was very clean.The kitchen was well equipped, the linens were high quality, the beds very comfortable, the furnishings tasteful. Ther was an incredible amount of outside equipment provided to enable the renters of all ages to enjoy this beautiful lake. The lake was perfect for kayaking and paddle boating. Our favorite day time activity was sitting on the dock under the shade tree taking in all the lake activity and the nice breeze. The evenings were enjoyed sitting at the fire pit near the lake. The game room upstairs was awesome, something for everyone. Fortunately we had perfect weather so never got a chance to use it. That will have to wait for our next visit. Linda,the owner of the house, was available before and during our stay for any questions about the house and the area. It was a pleasure to rent from her.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I have stayed in 3 of the vacation rentals in this area that are advertised on this site and this is heads and tails above the rest. This house is so well stocked you will want for nothing. The house is located on a quiet street and is a peaceful retreat for your getaway no matter what time of year. This house is fully stocked. And I mean fully stocked if you forgot anything at home you can be sure they have it for you. Huge game room on the second floor if you happen to have a rainy day. We just loved it here. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us we hope to return for some R&R soon. We are going to need it after getting our new house renovated. This property was beautiful! It had absolutely everything you could possibly need. We had a great time ! PERFECT HOUSE ..PERFECT LOCATION! We had a wonderful time in our weekend stay at the lake house. I threw a bridal shower there, and spent the rest of the weekend with the bride and a few friends, swimming, kayaking, and enjoying the expansive game room. It was a great house for a small gathering. Every amenity you could think of is there. I packed my own salt and pepper, pans, knife, etc., and was pleasantly surprised to find that the kitchen was extremely well-equipped. It is also easily the most nicely maintained vacation rental I've ever stayed at. The pictures do not do justice to the property. The lake itself is beautiful and fairly private. What an absolute gem-- Our family enjoyed a wonderful week in this rental and everyone is looking forward to a return visit! The lake is peaceful & beautiful... a delightful place to kayak & fish or simply spend the day floating on a tube reading a book. The house has all the comforts of home (and then some!)... the care & pride of the owners is apparent both inside & out, making for a very enjoyable vacation for all members of the family, young & old. We stayed in this wonderful house during the summer and it was perfect, especially for families. There is a game room for the kids, not to mention a lake and dock. Good canoeing, country walks, very comfortable house. Often rentals are not as nice as your own home but this one is well taken care of and well equipped (the beds are good quality for instance). The owners have since remodeled the kitchen and installed a second bathroom. The largest bedroom looks out onto the lake. About the owner: I am a former teacher turned stay-at-home mom. My kids are ages 13 and 16, and my husband is a farmer. We have had many enjoyable times at our lake house and we're very excited to share it with other families.
Why the Owner Chose Spencer:
