Enjoy a cup of tea snuggled up in one of the bench seats. Cook a gourmet meal in the fully-appointed kitchen. Feel the warmth from the wood-burning stove and the radiant-heated floors. Appreciate the view of Mount Vision from the private deck. Take an outdoor shower. Read a book in the hammock outside.
This and much more is Yvetot Guest House. Designed and built from largely recycled materials in 2003 by our architect son to accommodate visits from our ever-growing family, it is truly a magical place that we would like to share. It is a mile up from the town of Inverness and close to ocean-side and bay-side beaches. Hiking trails abound from just up the street to the many trails in Point Reyes National Seashore.
The house, which is 800 square feet, comfortably sleeps six people but can accommodate eight: two in the master bedroom and four in the 'children's room' - two twin beds and two twin futons with sleeping bags in the loft. Additional sleeping is possible on the bench seats in the living area and/or in the loft above the hallway.
We just added a great hot tub and deck located on the North side of the property (behind far wall of bedrooms). Sweet spot, excellent views from the tub. Guaranteed to get our kids and grandkids here more often.
There are plenty of DVD's, CD's to play on the Bose music system (into which you can plug your iPod), books, games and toys to entertain everyone. Come and have a wonderful time!
(Mexico? Check out our daughter and family's place in Alamos, find under solipaso, it is very special, too.)

Retired GM executive, one feral cat, love this spot on the ridge and the guest house built for family and friends. Garden is special interest.
Chose the house and location for retirement...great decision! This spot is very special as sun, views, and 3 acres on the ridge top....very liveable!
Privacy, uniquely restful setting, and a very excellent job of design and furnishing .... our son is a talented builder and the care, attention to detail is obvious.
We had the best time. I almost considered not writing a review, because I want to able to book this place easily again easily. The owners are the nicest people and really care about the cottage and being residents of Inverness. It's a guesthouse behind a main house, but very private and secluded. The design in spectacular and the kids will love the loft bunks. We will be back for sure, soon!
We had a very pleasant stay at Yvetot. The house is extremely well designed, very clean, very comfortable and in a great spot. Mike is a very gracious and helpful host. We hope to be back.
We loved the house, the hosts, the location—everything was just perfect. Stayed here back in august with our two small boys. Everyone loved their time here. Thank you, Mike for making us feel so warmly welcomed. House is perfect, clean, loved by the family, has amazing views, everything you need in the kitchen, awesome children room that a lot of adults i know would also enjoy. Highlight of our trip was hot shower outdoors surrounded by fragrant air of beloved West Marin. Mike has recommended us places that they like to visit themselves around Inverness. And we had our first successful dinner with our kids at a fine restaurant, Saltwater, since they were born. What a treat. Great locally sourced food, good service, awesome location. So grateful for the recommendation. The house sits on a beautiful and well taken care of property and you get awesome views of surrounding hills from the windows, from hot tub and from lounging deck. All in all we had the best time here. Thank you again, Mike, for opening your home to us.
We chose Yvetot for a girls getaway and birthday celebration, and it was paradise! The setting is lovely, the location perfect for the activities we chose (we highly recommend the tour and cooking class at the Point Reyes Farmstead), the layout of the living area ideal for cooking and conversation. We were drawn to the playfulness of the kids room and enjoyed an old school slumber party with two of us happily in the upper bunk. And don't miss the outdoor shower -- a delight unto itself, and even more so with a cold beer after a long hike! We all agree that we can't wait to return and thanks to Mike for sharing this slice of paradise.
What a great place! A short drive to all of the activities around Tomales Bay and Point Reyes Station but also secluded at the top of a ridge with beautiful views and privacy! Especially like the outdoor shower! Not really a cabin but more like a modern, well appointed cottage that was very comfortable, immaculate and well stocked. Though on the same property as the owner, it is far enough away from the main house that you can enjoy the scenery and peacefulness that is right off the deck. I highly recommend Yvetot! Thanks Mike, my visitors really enjoyed your home!
Yvetot was the perfect, relaxing escape for a birthday weekend. We arrived to a charming cabin, with warm lights twinkling away in the early evening twilight. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and the cabin is wonderful. The views are amazing and waking up each morning to the sounds of birds chirping - well I don't think I have had such a wonderful sleep as I had at Yvetot. The home is beautifully designed, with a well appointed kitchen, great indoor and outdoor spaces, outdoor rain shower and more - we had everything we needed at our fingertips. Highly recommend!
