The house definitely has potential but could use some maintenance. Neither hot tub worked for us and, in all fairness, we didn't notify the maintenance man because we were just too busy. We had to call and get extra sheets and the housekeeper came and helped us out the next day. One of the bedrooms didn't have the twin bed in it that I had been told about but there was a roll-a-way bed so that worked out ok. There size of the home worked ok for 20 of us but would be better for fewer people. It's right next to a park where people camp but that didn't bother us at all. We were there over New Year's 2013 for a week...not sure I'd go back to that side of the island in the winter and it's not the softest sand of the beaches on Kauai...a lot of coral pieces. But it sure was nice to be on the beach and be able to have our entire family there with us! I would probably consider renting this property again because of the beachfront location and the price.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: I am so glad you had a wonderful time at the property and would like to rent the property again. Please feel free to call us anytime in the future if something is not working properly. We can get someone out to fix it in minutes.

We had a group of family that came together in Kauai for a long awaited vacation. The house had its ups and downs as most do but overall I would recommend this for your vacation on Kauai. Pros:1 Anini beach is awesome, very calm, not crowded, and is a good launch point for many of the activities you may want to try on the island. 2, The house was ideal for larger groups. Each portion of our group were able to set up their area in either the main house or the cottage that gave us the ability to have some privacy when needed. 3, Being steps from the beach is never a bad thing. We went with 2 young children and never had to worry about the waves or current taking them away because the outer reef did such a good job of breaking the waves and still had the ability to snorkel on the inner reef and see plenty of fish and even came across a couple turtles during our stay. Cons: 1, The house is located right next to a public beach that allows camping and it seems like the area on the other side of the wall is a prime spot for campers to set up. We didn't have too many issues with it other than the noise continued later into the night than we would have liked and the overall sense of privacy was not as high as it could have been being bordered by houses on both sides.2, the general feel of the house is that it is past its prime. Maintenance has not been high on the list between the broken handles on the outside shower, to the finish on a lot of the wood needing to be redone, to the hot tubs not working well or at all (cottage hot tub was inoperable during our visit), the rain gutters had not been cleaned to the point where some weeds were growing out of them. None of these issues were major but just gave the initial impression of it being run down. To comment on some other reviews; I read about needing a vacum and thought "why would I want to vacum on vacation?" Well in hindsight I do wish there was one available. Sand was a constant issue during our stay and it would have been nice to vacum the rugs instead of just sweeping. The other thing I wanted to mention was the fridge issue. We all arrived on the same day and went shopping as a family would do upon arrival. We didnt have any spoilage issues with our food and other than the ice maker in the door of one of the fridges not dispensing ice they both worked well during our stay. All in all a great location for the money as long as you dont expect champagne when you pay for beer.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children.

We had 18 people stay at both the main house and the Cottage for our wedding. This place was perfect for our special day. Right next to the main house is a little strip of beach that runs along side the main house and to stairs leading up to the Cottage, this was perfect for our wedding party to walk down to the beach. There was plenty of room for everyone. I would highly recommend this to anyone for a group vacation. The photos shown on this site reflect the actual appearance of the house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

11 of us travelled from England & 1 from LA to stay in the two houses for our Wedding. We had an absolutely fabulous time. The houses were both lovely and exactly as described. Everything we needed was provided, bedding, towels, watersports items. We had a fantastic stay and wonderful wedding day. The main house is right on the beach and made our day just perfect. Everything was in working order and any problems we had were immediately sorted out by the maintenance staff. We had organised everything on the Internet and were naturally worried if everything would be okay but we needn't have worried. All our guests loved it too! We will definitely be back, all being well the plan is to return in 2016 - hope it's available! Jan & Simon Hardy Portsmouth UK.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The Home is an incredible location on Anini Bay! This is a beautiful, safe beach, where everyone in our group did some swimming, snorkeling and walking. The home is very spacious and worked extremely well for our group. It is a nicely designed, well built house. We really enjoyed the house and plan to come back again soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/10

We stayed there in the first part of December, with 16 people. The floors were very dirty and sandy, one of our family noticed small shards of glass on the floor. The ceiling fans were very very dusty. The oven in the main house wasn`t working properly, and was missing parts on the front, so all of our cooking needed to be done in the other house. There was alot of rust on the sinks, and hard water deposits or corrosion on the taps. Hot water ran out very quickly, and it never got very hot to begin with. WIFI was off and on throughout the house. There was a kayak for teens or small adults, but only came with one paddle. There were pool noodles, and floatys....but there were underneath the deck, and no one could reach them. You are right beside a public park, and there are campers that like to party all night. And the chickens and the roosters!!! They would wake you up guaranteed every morning before the sun even came up. Being right beside a public park, they were everywhere, at least 30 of them. So if you`re looking for a good nights sleep, think again. This house is close to some beautiful beaches down the road. Snorkeling is good if you go out quite a ways. I recommend a good cleaning before this is rented out again. It looks like the pictures, but definitely not that clean.Recommended for: Families with young children.

Great location and great space. Refrigerators badly needed. We lost a lot of food due to inadequate refrigeration. Kitchen needs an overall upgrade as appliances are well past their prime. A large Ice Chest at the property would help. Also a vacuum cleaner is needed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: The guest called us and we immediately had a maintenance person show up. The fridge was extremely packed and there was nothing wrong with the fridge. Constant opening and closing of the fridge the first day appeared to be the issue the first day. Maintenance turned up the cool air without any issues and we did not hear back from the guest after that. All of the appliances are somewhat new to the home. Ice chests and vacuums are not standard for the homes on the island.
