The best thing about Mahana 1202 is the lanai/balcony with table and chairs overlooking the ocean. We spent a lot of time here just enjoying the view. From the 12th floor you might as well be on the bow of the Titanic ... because all you can see is water (and a couple islands ... no icebergs). No one can see you either, so you can sit out there naked if you want. I won't say if we did.

The 2nd best thing is the washer-dryer unit, LOL. So handy to be able to dry your beach towels and wash your sweaty golf/tennis clothes.

The 3rd best thing is the "OK, Google" device, which was pretty good at playing Hawaiian music upon voice command. Or maybe it was the Netflix, which we don't have at home but which enabled us to watch a couple series we were interested in.

The 4th best thing (I may be getting my numbers mixed up here) was all the valuable information Doug provided via email about eating places and activities. We took his advice and went snorkeling at Kaheliki Beach, which was GREAT! Lots of fish. Plenty of snorkeling equipment in the storage box so you're sure to find something to fit.

The 5th best thing is the hot tub on the property. Boy did it feel good after we had been caught in a few rain showers watching the Kapalua golf tournament. Also there is a tennis court, which is in good condition. It is shaded by a large Acacia tree which drops little leaves all over but that didn't seem to cause much problem. It is striped for pickleball also. But for real tennis fun, go the the drop-in doubles at the Kapalua Tennis Garden.

The worst thing about the unit is the overly complicated Cuisinart coffee maker. Finally by the 6th or 7th day we found the right combination of parts for making coffee without getting coffee and grounds all over the counter. The 2nd worse thing is just that the owners have a lot of STUFF. It's a fairly small unit so really not in need of a dozen decorator pillows, piles of serving trays and bowls of shells on every surface. Fortunately there were plenty of empty drawers in the dresser so we STUFFED some of the STUFF in there, which improved the feng shui of the place. The other worse thing is just Maui itself - traffic all the time!, at least in the Lahaina area - just have to allow travel time to get somewhere.

But those are pretty minor defects! And our week at Mahana 1202 was wonderful for sure.
