Complete use of House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
Our home is steps from Pebble Beach which provides great access to snorkeling, hiking and is perfectly located to explore the Big Island of Hawaii. You will have exclusive use of a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, 2 car garage house with laundry facilities in the Kona Paradise Subdivision, 25 miles south of Kona. The home is located at the bottom of Kaohe Road, 150 yards from Pebble Beach. It is an easy, non-exerting walk (both directions) to your own private, community beach.
You can hear the whales calling (in season) and the waves cascading onto the pebble shore. We have splendid views of the ocean and the mountains from the house and lanai.
Our expansive wrap-around lanai is the perfect place to enjoy the cool ocean breeze, sip a delicious cup of Kona or Kau coffee, check your email and eat a delicious papaya after awaking to the birds chirping and the beautiful hillside beckoning a morning hike. This is paradise!
Our 2-story home is clean and spacious with an open floor plan. It is three bedrooms, two baths with the living room, dining room, lanai, and kitchen on the upper floor and the garage and laundry below. The spacious master bedroom has its own sliding door onto the lanai, a plush pillowtop king size bed, walk-in closet, ensuite bathroom, and full wall of windows facing the southern view and lanai. The house has been professionally furnished from the Stanley Costal Living Resort Collection, Pottery Barn & Pottery Barn Kids. The sunlit guest bedroom features a pillowtop queen bed and shares a full bathroom with the third bedroom, containing two twin beds. All bedrooms, the living room and lanai have ceiling fans. The house is not air-conditioned; however, all windows are screened, there are two sliding doors onto the lanai, and plenty of ocean and mountain breezes. The expansive covered lanai (15' x 30') is easily accessed off of the living room and the master suite. You will find fantastic views and an enjoyable patio dining table and chairs to enjoy quiet mornings or sunset dinners. A new Weber grill is available for your use on the lanai.
The kitchen has new stainless steel appliances and is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, table linens, cooking utensils, blender, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, hot water kettle, rice cooker, waffle maker and baking pans.
We are located 25 miles south of Kona and 32 miles south of the airport, off of Highway 11. It is a beautiful, lush and scenic drive past quaint towns and coffee farms. Pebble Beach is a tiny walk from our door. It is a private community, small black pebble beach that offers hiking trail access, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and diving access. We are also close to Ho'okeena Beach, Pu-uhonua o Honaunau (aka Place of Refuge) and fantastic Two Steps (Snorkeling), The Painted Church, and Kealakekua Bay (Capt Cook Monument). Volcano National Park is 70 miles to the south with great hiking and views.
You will love it here. Come enjoy the paradise!

Why Sharyl chose Opihihale
We have always enjoyed Hawaii and fell in love with the Big Island. We especially enjoy the Kona Paradise neighborhood because it is safe, quiet, friendly and one of few residential areas that has easy access to the beach and coastline. It is located in a beautiful, lush (but not rainy) area of the island near many coffee farms. Our home has excellent proximity to the ocean. You can hear the whales at night and in the morning the birds chirp and your eyes are met with beautiful mountain and ocean views. It is so peaceful.
What makes this House unique
We love the quiet tropical location of Kona Paradise. It is close enough to a number of great attractions but away from the tourista of downtown Kona. We know you will love the tranquility of our beautiful home and the incredible ocean sounds and views.

Great house, great view
We were very happy with the house. Lots of space, great view, great snorkeling down on pebble beach.Better than advertised. New Weber grill on the lani. Everything you need in the kitchen. We had 6 adults, and felt very comfortable. The beach chairs are a nice plus. It is a great house if you want to get away from busy Kona town. We stayed three nights, then stayed in Kona town for a week. Wish we could have stayed longer in the house. Mahalo for sharing your vacation home!
A wonderful setting for our winter getaway. Great views. Great location. Great facility.
Our monthlong stay just flew by. We were conveniently located between several locations including Kona, Volcano, and just a bit further to Hilo. Beachcombing and snorkeling were easily a daily event. Sharyl was a wonderful and attentive host, checking in without being intrusive. Another highlight was a great private cooking lesson provided by Leona from The Pure Kona Green Market. If you want to learn or simply taste authentic Hawaiian cooking, do it! We will definitely consider returning to her property should we return to Captain Cook. Mahalo Nui Loa!
Lovely quiet haven
Lovely home in a nice quiet spot. Would stay again
So many pleasing things about this home: exceptionally clean and well decorated, bedrooms are nice sized, lanai view is spectacular, quiet neighborhood, easy beach access.
I agree with other reviewers, the bugs can be annoying, the steep hill is very, very steep, and 35 miles south of Kona doesn't seem far to a city girl, but in Hawaiian terms - it's an hour drive!!
Negatives aside, it's a great location if you want to be away from the city and experience a quiet, beautiful, comfortable retreat.
Peaceful, steep hills and buggy
The neighborhood was very quiet and nice. The drive down to the house was crazy steep. Brace yourself for the ride, it's worth the view of the ocean area once you get there. Once at the house we saw that we had a double door garage to park in. While getting the key, one car rolled back a little ( scary ). So we hurried to open up the doors so we could park our cars inside and feel safe. The label above the right side door read, " RIGHT DOOR NOT SET UP!" Four ladies two over 60 and two over 50 with three cars and a bunch of luggage. One car was parked in the garage, one across the steep driveway and the other in the bush. Couldn't enjoy the evenings on the lovely spacious lanai because the hundreds of bugs took over. Awesome to wake up and have breakfast to an awesome view on the lanai. Everything that we needed was found in the kitchen and closets. Only found four rolls of toilet tissue for our Sun. to Thurs. stay, so we bought a pack when we went out to shop. The highlight of the stay at this house is definitely PEBBLE BEACH. Taking our own trash to the dump was not cool! It's a good thing there was just enough room to put the trash into one of the cars, pew! We would have had to pay fifty dollars otherwise. We made the best of it and had a fun time.
A comfortable stay in a peaceful setting.
The house was comfortable and conveniently close to the pebble beach. The lanai was perfect for meals and relaxing and we could hear the surf at night. The kitchen was open and well stocked with tools, dishes and equipment, easy for multiple people to work in together. Bedrooms were comfortably breezy and the bathrooms were clean and well supplied with towels.
Relax, watch the whales and dolphins, listen and see the peaceful ocean swells from our lanai and home.
